Maddogg Comics

I like comics. I like movies. I like TV shows. I like talking.

Welcome to Maddogg Comics! My channel where I can talk about everything I enjoy and hopefully you do too! This is my hub for Monthly Hauls, Reviews, Retrospectives, Discussions, Theories, and Whale Watches.

Honestly, this channel was created because I didn't feel like anyone spoke like me or approached comics in the same way. They're supposed to be fun and entertaining. I wanted to create a channel where anyone can join in. No condescending opinions, just my honest thoughts.

@MadDoggComics you have yourself a new subscriber man to the “Wolf Pack” or whatever you want to call your subscribers but, I was wondering as Deadpool and Wolverine is easily my most anticipated film for the rest of 2024, I wondered if maybe you could do a where to start video on Deadpool as well, if you weren’t already planning on it with Deadpool and Wolverine coming out at the end of this coming month on the 26th

@MadDoggComics I’ve been wanting to get into Wolverine comics for awhile now as well as Deadpool and as soon as I saw this I realized, “damn that’s just what I need.” I hope you do one for Deadpool as well as I have been wanting to get into both characters comic book adventures before the film hits the big screen which I already got my tickets 2 months in advance as soon as they were available I pre ordered those suckers as it’s easily my most anticipated film of summer 2024

Cannot believe Tyresse pretty much claimed the character as his own, with probably no input. I think he did it for film rights.

My pick for the best starting points to The Flash are: The Flash by Mark Waid Book 1 which has the story called Born to Run which is a year one for the Wally West Flash The Flash by Geoff Johns Book 1 is another great starting for the character in which Wally West gets to see how much different the DC Universe would be without any of the Flashes The Flash Rebirth by Geoff Johns which is the first time we get told that the Reverse Flash killed Barry Allen's mother and framed Barry's father DC Universe Rebirth The Flash Vol 1 Lightning Strikes Twice by Joshua Williamson which intoduces the villain Godspeed

I agree with your picks for Superman (I own Man of Steel by John Byrne, The World of Krypton by John Byrne which not only collects the 4 issue mini series but all the pre-crisis Krypton stories, Superman Last Son by Geoff Johns and Richard Donner, DC Universe Rebirth Superman Rebirth Book 1 by Peter Tomasi, New 52 Superman Unchained by Scott Snyder and Jim Lee, and a personal pick for you with Dawn of DC Superman Vol 1 Supercorps by Joshua Williamson).

Finally gotten around to watching the complete video and I must say it had a lot of energy and the structure was perfect. I learnt quite a bit about each founder I never knew before(seriously when does Jim lee find the time for 9 kids.😂) and never knew Liefield was such a controversial guy. Woof woof.

When Cates' run first started out, I enjoyed it, even though it annoyed me that he killed off Galactus. That said, I was still invested. And when I saw Thanos with the Marvel Zombies, I was like, okay - there's a crossover event, right there. The entire Marvel superheroes could try to tackle that and probably fail. And then... this. I think Cates has had some personal issues, so I hope he's okay. But Marvel crapped on Hickman's X-books, so it should surprise no one that they crapped on Cates' Thor run. They cannot be trusted with good ideas - they don't even care about good ideas, really. It's a shame.

Happy to hear someone else call out the BS that is 4 issues to one trade paperback! For years it’s actually been cheaper to buy single issues than collected and it needs to stop!

That Wolverine by Miller and JR JR looks so good. I like some dumb fun sometimes.😄 I have noticed hate for Miller too but honestly my first independent book was from him, Kick Ass which to this day is one of my favourites. That book is deeper than people give it credit for and deconstructed the comic media in a way. I don't like everything hes done but still. I want to read Nightclub, basically his take on Vampires😱🙂 Great video as always😎

I wouldn't recommend Zeb Wells Spider-Man for a beginner. It gets a lot of hate, drags a bit and does pull a few threads from previous runs. As a big Spider-Man fan I recommend Brian Bendis Ultimate Spider-Man, JMS, Dan Slott is a great starting on point. If you are ok with classic material then definitely recommend Roger Stern run. I love seeing a young reader get into the hobby.🙂

I agree with the current series. It is good and has filled in some blanks as well. My favorites, a fan since 1974, are the issues in the original series where he faced the inbetweener (cannot remember number) 55-62 (Clea break up through Dracula), 77-81 (Urthona), Strange Tales 1-19 (Kaluu and God Strange) and finally What If 40.

I often make this comment about Tom King's writing. He uses a lot of words to say very little. He uses a lot of flowery language making it seem smarter than it is, when you could sumarize a character's thoughts and still get the point across. I didn't like how this ended. Putting aside what is the cold blooded murder of Ruth's father, there's a point about half way involving a very obvious metaphor for racism and him being responsible for what amounts to a genocide. In my eyes he had lost the right to live at that point. I found it very middle of the road. If you know Kara Zor-El he just wrote a good Supergirl story. There's nothing ground breaking here.
