Thanks for all the content in regards to both smokefire and now searwood. Waiting for it to be available in Europe still :/ Been all over the web to figure out what to get. Masterbuilt XT, Louisiana Founders Legacy edition, Pitboss pro series etc etc. There have been a lot of terrible stories, but thinking that if I buy a Weber then it won't be all that bad regardless. Worst part is that no matter which one I have mentioned above, they are all very expensive in EU due to taxes etc. I was even tempted to pull the trigger on the Smokefire stealth edition, as they are on a 30% discount sale. Just don't want to, after watching your vids... Rather just wait and get the new one instead.

Simon, you’re very welcome. After using this for almost 3 months, I can say without hesitation 2 things. 1. The SmokeFire is a better smoker. Rate it 11/10. 2. The SearWood far more than excels at everything the SmokeFire tried to do and more, from cooking to ash and grease mitigation. So I can live with it being an 9/10 smoker. Good luck with your acquisition! Thanks for checking in!

@@sambosplace thank you for talking the time with that comment. So as you rate the other one higher on smoking (at the moment smoking is not a huge priority to me), how do the two pits compare on flavor profile? I mean the smokefire is very similar to a regular grill with the flavorizer bars with the New one having one big manifold. Does it change up a lot on the flavor or?

  • @sambosplace

Simon, couple things. I could never figure out my SmokeFire as a true griller/searer. Some have, in fact, there seems to be 2 camps. Ones that do with zero issues what-so-ever, and the camp I was in where I couldn’t and had multiple hardware and PID issues. To buy a SmokeFire Stealth is a roll of the dice IMHO. Full disclosure, I now run a 60/40 mix of charcoal pellets and hickory pellets. 60 being charcoal. The flavorizer bars didn’t do anything for my experience on the SmokeFire. The long, horizontal flavorizer/heat diffuser bar on the SearWood works excellent and cleans up more tidy than the bars. The experience is closer to a charcoal grill. I did some videos on that and the double sided sear grate in the “Why you should buy” video. Flavor first, always comes from your seasonings. The smoke signature flavor of the SearWood is more comprehensive because you can do more, better…. The depth of the smoke rings with the SmokeFire was more impressive and for longer smokes, really imparted a solid smoke signature. I will never go back to straight wood pellets. The charcoal pellet mix is more efficient, burns hotter and really gives an earthy flavors quite similar to lump charcoal. ❤️it. I’m not affiliated with Weber nor sponsored. In fact, I think they hate me because I speak truth. But having said that, I’d wait for a SearWood if you can, and don’t look back. It does many things well. Cheers!

If you read the manual, they reccomend cleaning every 10 to 15hrs. I did my first smoke for 8hrs,all grease in the foil pan and ash in the black tray. Weber also includes a black plastic spudger for easily cleaning out the ash or any buildup in the main cavity. Cable management? What cables do you need to manage? Theres a power cable.... And the probe... I hope you aren't outting the power cable on the back rack holder. That's a great way to melt it. Love this compared to the Traeger. Also can use a spirit insert to use all the crafted Genesis attachments. Agree, the utensil knobs are useless.

Great review! The movie cut scenes are awesome.... I love my searwood. I have several different types of grills (Weber Spirit Gas, Weber Smokey Mountain, and a Santa Maria) What makes the Searwood special is its flexibility and reliability. My Smokefire, which I returned, would have a grease fire or meltdown of some sort any time I tried pushing it over 400 degrees. There are so many cooking options when you combine the Weber Crafted System and a rotisserie. I just did kabobs last night with the rotisserie kabob attachment and it was awesome. As you know, the cleaning is night and day compared to the SF and I am glad I don't have to break out the shop vac anymore.

Again - great video! My XL 600 is about 1-1/2 months old now. I have the rotisserie, front & side tables, cover, HF magnets, crafted frame kit ... I love this grill so far. For the cover I use a mini handi clamp to fasten it to the shelf. Has worked for a week now. I had the crafted wok already and found the wok rests on the flavorizer bar even with the reducer ring provided with the wok. It wobbles a little but works fine. Now for the griddle, I need to make 6 double smash burgers. I had a 28" Weber griddle and it just fit the burgers so I was sad to see the griddle you have that is recommended by Weber has less area than my 28" griddle. Then I looked at the Crafted griddle. Guess what? Two crafted griddles have a little more area than my 28" griddle. I have used these a few times now and they heat up very quickly. I have found two heat up faster and maintain temperature better than one.

@@sambosplace One more thing I forgot. Once I put the top rack in up-side-down and the handle could burn your hand if you held it. The top rack held the lid up ever so slightly and allowed heat out the front of the cover right on the handle. So got me thinking with my two crafted griddles the handle doesn’t get any hotter than when I’m not using them. Could it you need to reposition your griddle a bit to allow the cover to close tightly?

Hey if you going to do another brisket and you are going to use the bottom grates I just watched a KZread video from Steve Gow channel called Texas style brisket on pellet grill he had an idea that’s actually not to bad and you won’t have the mess to deal with.
