    Why didnt you test the Dreame L20 which is newer than the L10?

  • @TheHookUp

    Whenever I do a review video like this one it's always my policy to include the "winner" of the previous year's video which was the L10S Ultra. The X30 Ultra was the new Dreame flagship when this was published, so I included that instead of the L20.

    THANK YOU. Oh my lord my optoma HD141x fell today and it's been insanely frustrating to find a replacement. I got it on FB marketplace a couple years ago for 150 and loved the quality. Currently debating on getting a new color wheel which shattered when it fell or getting a newer model for 300.

    Thanks for the review and especially the security advice at the end. Do you have any review, or a strong opinion, about any of these brands: Hikvision TP-Link/VIGI Uniarch IMOU (made by Dahua) Could you rank them, or point out any brands that you would avoid? Thanks!

    The thing about gopro is you need to set fix the shutter speed when its dark, what happens then is that the codec handles the license plate separately and its super clear since it is lit while the rest of the image is just a blur. One issue still is that the codec can something try to help and read the license plate and change the letters to something else. What these camera makers should do is put the processing unit away from the camera so it can be bigger and use more processing power so the codec can make a better image.

    I am interested in a robot vaccum that mops etc. but the new worry is that hackers can take over devices and gain access to your internet services as well as listen in on what you're doing. This is something I hope they get better at preventing. Those in the Cyber security world know all to much about. I am wondering what are the best that work offline, having an online connection or a unstable internet connection around your home would they leave the device just dead in the water?

    Try the Reolink CX410. If you have street lighting, excellent night vision. The thing I dislike is the one screw adjustment neck, you can get it adjusted but it's a pain to point exactly where you want. I prefer the Hikvision 2 screw/bolt adjustment. We use Blue Iris with the CX410, no problems, just set the I-frame rate to 1, on both channels, the frames per seconds rate the same on Main, and the Sub channels.

    Great detailed walk through video! I would love to see an 'update' to this with a N100 mini PC (@2:55) that supports hardware encoding and decoding h.265 HEVC and an update on the software (@11:37) to see how those new features are working out.

  • @TheHookUp
    @TheHookUp22 сағат бұрын

    Are you thinking just from a power consumption standpoint? With something like the N100 you'd also need to use a CoralTPU to do the computer vision stuff, and at that point it's quite a bit more expensive than using an older gen6 and a cheap video card.

  • @ianjohnson3546
    @ianjohnson354622 сағат бұрын

    @@TheHookUp Thanks for the speedy reply! I wasn't aware that I'd need the CoralTPU, that's a good point. A little bit power - where I live electricity is extremely expensive but noise too, my preferred placement is in a bedroom and I'd prefer to buy new with warranty & support.

    20:16 just an FYI, but Roborock app also has per room customizable settings and a custom sequence. Sequence: Home page map edit symbol (top right above the map) or Settings > Manage Maps > Edit and then Sequence. Per room custom settings: Home page > bottom right ∞ symbol > customize (I don't understand why it's not in map management, same as sequence settings).

    I bought a 2.4gig version on one brand...it works great out of the box... another brand that was 5g (thinking it would be better) but you have to subscribe and/or use a card to record. The other major problems with these is the fine print in the subscription contracts. They get to keep all cloud data recorded. Everything, every minute of it, to use as they see fit. And...most are made in.... C h i na.... 🧐

  • @TheHookUp
    @TheHookUpКүн бұрын

    Recording hours of video to the cloud is not only bandwidth intensive, but also storage intensive. That's why free to use security cameras use local storage (like the SD card on the camera) instead. I'm not saying that whatever company makes them COULDN'T spy on you, just that it would be a poor business decision to do so. Also, the ones suggested in this video do not have a cloud subscription.

    If Tesla doesn’t seem to care about the quality control (year after year) in the vehicles then I certainly wouldn’t consider buying any of their products. They’ve established their threshold for “good enough” and that’s not good enough for me.

    I just picked up a l10s ultra, it is great...except for the mopping. It has a lot of complaints about the robot not dispensing water, and unfortunately, there is no way to tell how much water is left in it. More than half of the cycle is it just spinning dry mop pads, and it has no idea that it is doing so. As a vacuum... it is great though. But I may be returning it.

    @@TheHookUp I read a bit on the forums, apparently it has no water fill sensor to detect when the water is empty, the solution is to have it return to the dock more frequently to clean the mop pads and fill up. When I look at the tray that the mop pad is filling to wet the pads and clean them, it really looks like it is getting it dirtier. The only solution would be to clean the tray area every few days, which feels like it is more work than just getting a roborock s8 plus, buying extra mop pads/trays, and water containers, and swapping them daily.
