We all have different taste, and that’s a very good thing. Another good thing is honest reactors that don’t go “Ah” and Oh” and “love” everything to get likes. For some strange reason, Band-Maid always get compared to the metal cabaret called Babe Metal, although they have nothing in common. I do get that some like Baby Metal better as they are heavies and the musicians in the background are more technical. With that said, this is the first time I heard someone prefer their “squeaky toy voices” to the mature voice of a woman like Saiki. That to me is a mystery!

The donor who requested this song most probably did not take consideration that these two reactors, being very new to BM (having previously only listened to the instrumental, From Now On) have zero context with regard to the song, the concert, the significance of the concert and BM's history. Consequently, they could only react from an extremely narrow perspective. Having said that, a little research before reacting to the video as well as turning on the CC, might have might have given them more valuable insight into BM and the concert's significance. Anyway, I think they should now simply give up reacting to BM since the prejudice has already set in. Going forward from here, they can only hear Saiki's "weak vocals" and it won't be useful from any angle.

If you're into more dynamic song with more complexities, this is one of their softest songs where only fans or particular type of people who can emotionally relate to. They are one of those bands that you have to listen to at least 10 songs before forming any kind of judgement, because they are so versatile. And most of their songs have the catchy chorus but deceptively complex, of course some are more radio-friendly and easy-listening. Fans are so emotionally attached to this song and even though it's nowhere near complex or fast and chaotic like most of their recent songs are, sometimes it really doesn't matter much. It's a great live song.

I don't tend to hate your reaction...I'm not blind and toxic BM fan and You have every right to an "honest" opinion... This is definitely not a good song for first reaction at all, this is a special kind of anthem song (thanks to the fans), it's the end of a 3+ hour concert and the song has no special musical value. If this is how the quality of singing is valued, it doesn't make sense to refer you to Christmas acoustic, or the fact that the Japanese doesn't even have certain consonants in the language (L), therefore they can't even speak English fluently, less sing, Saiki almost cries half the song...because you're going to use Babymetal as a benchmark? Babymetal is not a group, but a corporate idol project, with all the machinery behind it... and you just love the idea of metal sound behind that project (half of the performances are fake, they often don't play live), there are no Babymetal backing vocals, only tracks (2 girls are performers, not singers!), and Su-metal singing is...rudimental? "First reaction" format can't set standards for comparison without knowing some background, but at the end of the day it's your channel and I respect your way...even though I personally find it wrong... Maybe it's more "honest": I like it / not my cup of tea?

I don't wish to throw any more fuel on this fire, (not your comments but the thread in general) but I would like to mention that there were multiple 'suggestions' for Endless Story in the From Now On comment thread. Hate? was there frequently as well and Domination (and others obviously) but Endless Story was 'suggested' multiple times. Nobody added any context at that stage. It's just like with most 'suggestions' we make in the comments; how often do we provide detail that has the potential to alter the perception of a viewer.

When you were comparing this to the same vocal pattern from BABYMETAL, were you aware that Band-Maid came out with this four years before BABYMETAL's song with the same pattern? It wouldn't be Su saying, "Wait, that's our song!" It would be Band-Maid hearing BABYMETAL and saying, "Wait, that's OUR song!" By the way, I love both bands, but Band-Maid did do this first.

From Japan I don't mean to say that this song is the last song of 3 hours and 30 minutes and 33 songs. I don't think it's because her ability to control the crowd or convey emotions is inferior. I'm just saying that there are people who can't feel it. When people feel that it's not theirs, they start looking for things they don't like and don't try to see the good in it. However, they should know that there were many ordinary fans who watched this song with tears in their eyes.

Well that was difficult to sit through. 😂 As your name says, Honest Reactions, so your opinion is your opinion. TBH, this song, from this show in particular, was not the best song for a first time listen to Saiki, as a new listener you will have no history or context to what's happening. This was their 10th Anniversary Tour Finale and during this song the Maids were very emotional and if the CC was on, you would have seen Saiki thanking the fans for their support and because of the fans, they have made here to their 10th Anniversary. They play this song as a song for fan appreciation. They even added a special verse for this show, just to immortalize this moment with thank you in mind for the fans. "For making today Possible. For letting our voices join together, Thank you! From now, always. We'll never forget this view shared with you." The crack you heard was her emotions coming out... BTW...this was song 33 on the night on a 3hr and 40min concert, where Saiki did sing 29 of those songs. As for the English, she does have an accent, but English is obviously not her first language and I'll give you her English is not as good as some of the Japanese singers. But heck, some singers in the US can speak proper English either...Context. I like Baby Metal, One OK Rock, Lovebites, Nemophila, Maximum the Hormone and a whole bunch of other groups/singers/bands. But I don't compare them side by side to throw shade on one band. Do I prefer some over the other if were ranking them, sure, but I don't criticize one over. Especially since other than being Japanese, all of them are different. Whether it be idol/metal, hard rock, metal, speed metal, death metal and some crossover. And saying one member of another band should do this a song for another bands member...that's disrespectful. Especially since most of these bands are friends and support each other. Honest opinions can remain honest...but really...you could have just said, "I did not like that song. It's just not in my wheelhouse." "She sounded like she was straining on this song. Hey let us know if there was something going on with her voice". BTW...again for context and not trying to throw shade on any band, as I love all of these bands...Single show setlist...Baby-Metal setlist shows 10 to 12 songs. One OK Rock, 16 to 18 songs. Band-Maid US tour 18 to 22 songs and in Japan usually 22 to 23. Well, I hope you continue with Band-Maid as they are a wonderful band. And if you don't, it's OK and thank you for reacting to the Maids. PO!🕊 🤟😆🤟

There’s no reason for anyone to have to judge a band or a song only after experience (i.e., knowing that this was the last song of along concert or the emotion resonance of the 10th anniversary, or any of that stuff) and certainly no reason to say anything other than one’s honest opinion. I respect your judgement on the song and understand why you didn’t like it. I don't understand why they hate Saiki so much. Her ability to control the audience and convey emotions is great, and she is outstanding not only in her performances but also in her live performances. It seems that they hate Saiki just by looking at her. When they say that it would be better if the vocalist was Sue, or that her English pronunciation sounds like she might be sick, they are probably expressing their honest contempt. To me, it seems that they are looking down on the Japanese live culture itself. Being honest is fine, but being rude is a problem.

THIS was the product that got them noticed and then they largely abandoned it. It's not "WomanMetal", it's "BABYMetal". Basically, the product dies with Yui Mizuno leaving in 2018. There is no sign that "kawaiimetal" is going to flourish, either, despite claims to the contrary. There are some similar acts but nothing truly like this and the concept is more likely to fade out of popularity a s a "gimmick", which the Japanese music industry is famous for.

Two of the best shows I have ever seen. . .and I appreciate how different they are. I am so tired of people not realizing how difficult singing is and don't consider singers musicians. . .Give me a break. Ever tried singing live in front of hundreds or thousands of people? I am drummer and a choreographer. I can tell you dancing at the level some groups do it can be way harder than playing an instrument as it is more physically taxing whilst being just as exacting. Most people who dis it know nothing about it, and could not get through 2 measures of dance choreo without f'ing up! Now try singing at the same time. Its fine if choreo w/ rock/metal is not your thing, but to imply it does not take the same dedication effort and ability as it does to play an instrument is not narrow minded. . . it's just ignorant.

Hey all, I believe BAND-MAID Hate? is out sometime this week so perhaps this ends up simply being an outlier of a reaction. As for which songs should be listened to and in which order, well Endless Story, Hate? and Domination were all suggestions in the comment section for Band-Maid (From Now On). So, everybody is going to have preferences, and expanding on that everybody is possibly not going to like everything. Now, I love Endless Story. I think it stands alone without any explanation and it was actually the first song / video I showed a friend, and her first comment was 'she looks like she's barely holding on'. She noted body language and crowd interaction and felt the 'gravity' of the situation. That was her perception, and she loved the performance more because she made the connection rather than me giving a back story. Now that is not going to be everyone's experience. Some people want to know 'this was the last song of a marathon set and Saiki is really emotional'. That might alter the way someone reacts it may not. In the end I'm not fussed with a reaction if it is how someone honestly feels in the moment. Now, I may respect the opinion and honesty but yeah, delivery was very rough. No reason honesty can't be couched in a little respect for the artist, and the comparisons between various bands . . not cool. Apologies if that comes across as too harsh especially after making the point of being honest and respectful. All that said, on to more BABYMETAL, BAND-MAID, Hanabie and whatever else comes our way. ~ Tabitha
