Can you recommend someone in the Houston or San Antonio area who can repair a VTL MB300 amp and Apogee Diva speakers?.....asking for a friend in San A.
Do you know what the preamp wasfor the ts a 20?
He is absolutely right!
I have the little S12's and they are so punchy and amazing in a small room - I think these speakers would blow my mind - always difficult to demo at a show.... I think the choice of bass tracks you demoed was a bit poor....if you want something more usical I will happily send you my play list. All the best - just love your spear brand and attention to acoustic engineering excellence....
Thank you! Jason Doug Dave and Pete the Greek!
Glad to see another great store open in Houston. I wonder if anyone remembers Houston Audio Concepts from back in the '70s. IIRC, they were located on what now is called Farnham St, the curve between what is Shepherd to the north and Greenbriar to the south. Mark (don't remember his last name) was the owner, and I bought my first decent system from him: a Denon turntable and cartridge, a Holman preamp, a Threshold amp, and Maggie speakers. Mark had the same philosophy as 3mA, no pressure, come in and listen as many times as you like, etc. Very nice folks. I think he eventually moved to Austin. For the last (almost) 40 years, I've been lucky to be a customer of Dallas Audio Concepts, which carries excellent equipment and has the same approach. Best regards to all the guys in Houston, and I hope to get down that way someday to see the 3mA store.
Yes they were here when I moved to Houston and I bought stuff from them. Nice place and my go-to store in Houston until they left and I found 3mA
It is going to be another win based on that glimpse of part 2. No question those coil packs needed to be replaced. So that's a win for the future owner.
You guys raised some hell last night! Keep it up
Dave did share a bunch already in the membership area, but just wait...
I would be interested in comparing these speakers with the new Clarisys Audio Piccolo. I currently have a Magnepan LRS+ in a small room. The LRS+ works very well in most respects but there is room for improvement, especially with a bit better clarity.
Luckily, as a loudspeaker developer, I can immediately see the potential of such loudspeakers and where their limits are. High-End means that a loudspeaker has no limitations in terms of sound. Unfortunately, these do not meet this requirement. 🥱 But at least they put a lot of effort into it and the Magicos look great and are impeccably crafted.
Speakers 4 rich people.
The new MK3 Magicos are simply incredible
Both speakers are overkill, sound compressed in the room. It's not the gear but the room. Question is what is the cubic feet?
Bella/Linda.😅✡️✡️✡️✡️✡️✡️
i like the way Acoras image the sound,,,sounds much more unique than most speakers,,great imaging really
I bought mine on Amazon.
After seeing this presentation, I was fortunately able to convert my order from a set of Dali Rubicon 6 to a set of Dali Rubikore 6. I haven't been able to listen to it yet, but I'm sure it will be fine. Can't wait for them to be delivered....
If Mark L. is involved, the results will be tremendous. He has been on the leading edge of high end Audio since 1974, Would love for him to delve into the specs., etc. ( harmonic distortion levels, even ordered, uneven, etc ) Met him at the Sterophile 1994 Doral show in Miami -- he had the most impressive display and room at the show --Not, pure audio, but a $250,000 home theatre package , showing the latest blockbuster film--"CliffHanger"-- it was beyond incredible,, after wrapping up business with the Sensei of Japan, stopped in the bar for a quick beer--lo and behold-- spent 2 +++ getting buzzed wih the icon, Gordon Holt-- - what a wealth of knowledge and a very nice guy-( May have been the Johnny Black )-- peace out my fellow philes, tsgnd
Mbl all day sounds very natural The Magico / Boulder sounds like mega overpriced hifi 😢
Best audio pron site on the web! Thanks again AudiophileJunkie! Once again I find the MBLs just sound better in every way - more open, more life-like, more tonal juice and nuance. QUESTION FOR JASON: A common knock on the MBLS is that as omnis they give "too diffuse, vague, imprecise imaging." They are just effects generators by spraying the sound around. What is your comment on the MBL's imaging. I've owned MBLs myself, used in a room that is very good acoustically (designed with an acoustician, and has a good amount of flexibility in how reflective or non-reflective I make the room). I owned the MBLs while I also owned plenty of other speakers at the same time that I'd switch in, e.g. Thiel 3.7s (VERY precise imaging!) and various others. I found that I was able to set up the MBLs to image with similar precision to the good box speakers. I never found it "more vague" or too diffuse. In fact I found the MBLs tended to carve out distinct spatial relationships if anything even more profoundly. (I often listened from between 6 to 7 1/2 feet from mine, in a fairly well damped room). I'm sure plenty of people hear more diffuse imaging in show set ups, but you've heard the MBLs plenty, so what's your take on their imaging precision relative to many traditional speakers?
Excited to my system back online in the next 2 to 3 months. Never been big on Audio research.
Hi, I am an old nan who bought 2 of them, The original in 1980, followed by the Oracle Delphi MK1 + tonearm Sirus + Koetsu Black. There is only one thing that bugs me , it is replacing or re-installing the belt. I think its a pain every time you have to do it. Why no tools or even good videos are not available to perform this task. If you know a video that clearly explain an easy way to do it, please let us all know how to do it.
MBL is not on the exhibitor list for THE SHOW in Costa Mesa next weekend. Too bad, I would like to see/hear the MBL Extremes and would gladly drive anywhere within reason to audition them.
MBL are leagues better
The Acoras sounded perfect-ly "nice". Too bright for me, no depth or soul coming through. That room looks like it could suck the life out of anything though. I dont know how you can relax in that room. The MBLs were better, a touch of soul coming through. The colors of the room were better and more inviting for music listening.
In the Acora room, do you recall how far apart the speakers where from one another and the distance from speakers to the listening position?
Love your show my brother. Hope to see you at THE SHOW in Costa Mesa, CA. Next weekend.
Once they make a $1500 to $2000 version for small/medium sized rooms, I'd be interested. Until then, Magnepan it is!
I've listened to Acora's at three different shows in much larger room than this one. They are very dynamic speakers, but I'm not impressed by their imaging or their tonality. Love the MBL Extremes. They are great for live musical recordings and in particular with large orchestral pieces. Thank you for providing us these presentations.
Imaging at shows is great with the Acoras, but that's something a KZread recording can't highlight
Thank You!

Awesome. Thank you Audiophile Junkie. 🤩🥰👍
🖤super sweet stone. very limited supply in that colour too I hear.. Laguna sunrise? Sunset Fire!! Amethyst cabinets on the horizon..🤗
i experienced ILUMNIA in a Brussels High-End expo , the Magister was really that woaw effect ! the sound/energy penetrate to the soul and bones without hurting you're ears ,and they have a discrete very sexy design ! yes there was many (very)- good other speakers , bud you see from where the sound comes ! and some are way to massive for me ! by ILUMNIA you are attracted by the sound experience and you go to search from where this feeling and sound source is...
Stunning! Looking.
Man, those speakers sound good!
Marbleous. 😊
I just realized I'm staying at a hotel down the road from 3ma, going to try and sneak over tomorrow afternoon
I might be there so say hi
I would take some Alsyvox Panel speakers matched with all new Apurna TM Gear and be done for life ! The bottom-end really comes alive with this amazing new gear ! OMG... At PHP Audio Fr.
Yeah Alsyvox are great
Absolutely gorgeous speakers! I was lucky enough to hear the grey pair at PAF last year and they definitely rock.
Is the subwoofer at the back used when recording this clip?
Very nice video. Hard to say on KZread but I am not a fan of a lot of “room sound” which could be heard in the MBL demo. Probably great in person.
"ready to rock"...I see what you did there.
Omg so jealous
Heavy-duty speaker 🔊 Gorgeous granite finish
So this seems like the same store they had about a month ago, it was the weekend of the new show in Dallas. It is like they finished the store. I would love to come this weekend
Sure... Come on down... Hit me up if you want to come to my house as well. Many of the guys from the channel will be there too.
@@AudiophileJunkie I just called them and told them I will be there. 🙂
Be sure to say hi
Can I come? I would love to hear these systems before Lone Star Audio feast
I will be there
Cool, went into 3mA awhile back .......... Definitely out of my range......... but awesome rigs. I want to go back probably this weekend to hear the Magico. I am about to upgrade here in the next 2 weeks
