    Why do I have to have a why? or some theme or meaning? why not just wanting to tell a good story? You shouldn't have to have any message you want to convey, other than doing something that people will enjoy. If you do have some thing you want to convey, a message, then that's fine I guess.

  • @creadevlabs
    @creadevlabs16 күн бұрын

    Telling a good story could be the why behind the game you're making. And usually a story has something to say, even if that meaning may be more subtle and not in your face. Sometimes the why is making a fun game to play with friends. Games like Mario Kart or Mario Party come to mind here. There isn't much of a story to these games, but they are fun to play with others, which is their purpose or why. By the way, thank you for your thoughtful question! I appreciate you challenging my point of view here.

    @Uhfgood Storytelling calls on the empathy of experience. (Not sympathy of emotion from the audience; but subconsciously fulfilling a lack, or yearning inherit of every human, towards fulfilling the characters motivation.) A story always asks a core question about this motivation that anyone can empathize with: who am I, why am I here, where am I going, what am I willing to change to get what I want, etc. The storytellers job is to utilize characters who each have a unique perspective to help answer your story's core question, otherwise known as theme. Your characters don't have to be humans or even sentient conscious beings, so locations and robots can be characters; but they must be personified, (that being,) their motivations must be grounded in the empathy of human experiences. I understand why the creator approaches their architecture from the top-down, emphasizing the why. However if you don't have a fundamental grasp on explaining literary concepts, everything that is said can come off as wishy-washy pseudo-spiritual creatively lacking mumbo-jumbo. This isn't an easy concept to start with, to read more on characterization I'd recommend reading David Corbett The Art of Character and the Character Compass. I've recently bought Tarn Adam's literature on AI Proc Gen and Storytelling Proc Gen and can give feedback in a month once I've read them. I mean no disrespect with my comments. I'm just trying to be straight to the point.

    Great video! I've been looking for something that I could use as an alternative to google tasks as well as inspiration for structuring inactive projects or as I like to call them: "Future Adrian's job." I'm interested in the possibility of linking project deadlines to the planning app which I'm assuming would also automatically sync with Google Calendar. The biggest strength tools like Obsidian is their customization, and the ability to automate the small parts that you can use to procrastinate actual work. I also like the potential with the tasks management about possibly using obsidian as a form of a reminder app. If there's promise I might even make a project out of learning how to develop android widgets for Obsidian and stuff! (No promises). I'd definitely be interested in a complete vault setup tour that also includes breaking down the plugins! One piece of advise that I think would probably make this video nicer for the algorithm as well as referencing to would be adding chapters to your video. Personally I'd set them up something like: 00:00 - Intro 00:51 - Into the Vault/Project Structure 03:35 - Managing Tasks 04:41 - Calendar Structure/Day Planning 06:14 - Time Tracking 07:12 - Utilities 08:32 - Project Management

    Why tags instead of properties?

  • @creadevlabs
    @creadevlabsАй бұрын

    I use Dataview in a few places, and I prefer to use tags instead of the double colon for my queries. I also like using tags as I can use them to categorize things without having to create unique properties for different kinds of notes. I can also apply multiple tags in the single tag property, so things can have multiple categories without having to add different properties.

    I'm wondering to know how you measure your increase level in productivity. I ask because for me, productivity is a way to reach goal in a more effective and efficient way. IMHO, Obsidian pull us in the Tinkering mode like Notion where we take more time fin tuning the product and doing the work. I'm wondering if Elon Musk use Obsidian to be more productive :D I struggled like you and I think having a dedicated tool that do the job perfectly for each task is best. Google calendar for calendar things. Things 3 for Tasks and Bear for Notes. That would also be Todoist or Tick Tick for Task and Obsidian for notes. I often use Obsidian for tasks but in a more project management way so Obsidian is not my day focus task manager. But having a system where we put properties and things like that for notes is in my opinion a wast of time and is more oriented about productivity procrastination than productivity itself.

  • @creadevlabs
    @creadevlabs21 күн бұрын

    You're absolutely right that tools like Notion and Obsidian can become distractions with their proclivity towards endless tinkering. They are not the best tools for everyone, and that's just fine. I for one enjoy the process of experimentation, and it may be this doesn't end up working for me down the road. But I never know until I give it a try.

  • @creadevlabs
    @creadevlabs21 күн бұрын

    As far as measuring productivity, I measure it based on whether I'm spending more time fighting with my system or getting things done. So far my Obsidian system has been running smoothly. It's there when I need it, and gets out of my way when I need to get to work. I've been able to get more projects and tasks over the finish line as a result. The important thing is to experiment and find what works best for you. No one else is better suited to that task.
