  I almost went up there to Morgan... I knew it was going to be crazy with lots of people but I had no idea it was going to be THAT many people! The Big Boy always draws a huge crowd. Fortunately I was able to see it pass by in Centerville as it traveled to SLC.

  Umm, no -- the diesel is there for two main reasons: first, to suplement the meager electricity the steam engine generates; and second, to provide dynamic braking assistance to spare the steam engine of the braking load. Last year the Big Boy was returning to Cheyenne when a freight train ahead of it had engine problems and was unable to make it over a hill so Big Boy was called to give the stuck train a shove and it did just that. The drive wheels on the Big Boy broke traction a couple times and slipped providing positive proof it was putting out huge amounts of tractive effort. And yes, 4014 was able to push the stalled train over the hill permitting the train to continue with reduced power.

  The manual has "latching" and "initiating device". Both mean the samecthing with different types of blinking lights.

  this has been going on in my room for 2 years now. so the story is a day before we left to go to the bahamas, the master bedroom one false alarmed, then after we left maybe in that 1 week the detector in my room went off because it has that blinking green light when i returned back from my trip meaning that unit has falsed alarm. it has happened once 3 years ago when i was sleeping it was like 4:00 am in the morning.
