I help music lovers over 40 become the guitar players they always wanted to be.
Because you are never too old to learn how to play your favorite songs. There is no better time to start than now!
Have fun, relax and feel good about playing the songs you love!
Hi, I am Kevin Depew. A couple of years ago my wife Vicky suggest I take my guitar lessons online. Since then I have helped hundreds of folks over forty learn guitar with my weekly lessons here on KZread.
I create an easy going environment with a relaxing, no pressure approach that makes it easy and really enjoyable to learn.

You do these instruction videos so well. Awesome job. Thanks.
Thanks Jerry! You can find the tab to this one inside the members area complete with play throughs for strumming and finger style.
@Relaxandlearnguitar thanks, I know, I just like watching the instruction videos you post for non members. It shows the difference, what a good membership teaches up and above the non member videos. Some of them I pick up things I missed or didn't notice before.
What model guitar is that Martin? Thanks
It’s a D1-R. My favorite guitar by far. You can find them used. I bought this one in 99.
@@Relaxandlearnguitar thanks. Sounds nice. Looking to get my first Martin so a used one may be good option
I enjoyed doing this one and hope you do to! To get your free Classic Country Song lesson including downloads for the tablature, strum pattern and chord diagrams click here: relaxandlearnguitar.com/classiccountry/
Fractured my left thumb many years ago. So prolonged pressure from barre chords can be very painful for me.
I would imagine!
First 1:19 Second 1:57 Last part 2:36
Thanks!
Thanks Richard!!
Good Work!
Thanks!
Great video, a damp cloth is what the makers recommend, you don’t need chemicals unless the guitar is really filthy. I use a product called Fast Fret about once a week to put a small amount of oil on the fretboard without removing the strings. I also use it on the bridge periodically.
Thanks and thanks for the share
Your #1 in my book 😊
Thank you so much for your support! Happy to help.
Hi Kevin. I absolutely love your teaching and even though I have bought another KZread instructor’s lessons, I’m seriously thinking about buying into yours as well. One thing I have to actually get off my chest though. You have a habit of starting to play, then stopping and start talking. I, in the meantime, will start playing along with you to try and pick up the lesson, and when you stop and start talking, that makes me lose all concentration. I know that at any time I can just stop the video and rewind, but it becomes frustrating after too many times. You are very congenial and very talkative, and I will just learn to live with it, and just rewind.
Hey there. Thanks for watching and I am happy to help. Feedback noted. FYI- in most of my lessons inside our membership I play and sing the songs as a play through. Often times on KZread I cannot do that due to copyright.
@@RelaxandlearnguitarThank you for responding, and noting copyright issues, that I can understand. I also love when you sing along and play.
Kevin Are you guys ok? It’s been like 2 weeks without a video. I don’t get any alerts and don’t see any. Hope you’re all keeping well?
Hey Ryan. We are good. Had a death in the family - Vicky’s brother passed away and some other things going on so took a quick break. I have been posting on our community tab and our new video will be out this Friday. Thanks for asking. Appreciate your support!
@@Relaxandlearnguitarthat’s terrible to hear. I’m so sorry to hear that. God bless you both and the family.
Thanks from a french fan!
You're welcome!
😊
Thank you, that was a great tutorial 👏 I never dreamt I would be able to play this beautiful song, but thanks to you I picked it up in minutes!
Glad I could help!
Great tutorial! I have a few minor variations in the version I play but picked up some great changes!
Rock on!
Once again, Kevin excelled in this lesson. Another song added to my playlist. Thank you Kevin
Awesome, thank you!
Thanks for the lessons. Love em. I always take Willie Nelsons and Frank Sinatra advice "Make each song your own!" 🙏
Also I learned it from the song book when it first came out.
You are welcome. Thanks for watching
How do I do this in E? I cant figure it out
Check out this video for that kzread.info/dash/bejne/pn93mcitgJCwnqQ.htmlsi=1__KxBG5p8W2i50o
@@Relaxandlearnguitar Thank you sir!
how can a bowed neck be fixed?
Probably depends on how bad it is. I would definitely have someone that knows what they are doing take a look. Could just need an adjustment
Very clear instructions, thank you .
Muchas gracias por hacer éste vídeo, intentaré aprenderla como he aprendido algunas de las canciones de la Creedence que has hecho vídeos. Enhorabuena por otro gran vídeo
Thanks! And have fun with it
Gracias profe muchas gracias
You are welcome!
Great lesson! This song is so beautiful I will give it a whirl. Can you do a lesson on the song "Third Rate Romance" by the Amazing Rhythm Aces? with help on the weird strumming pattern? Either way, I really enjoyed this lesson! u4ea
Thanks. And I noted your request.
@@Relaxandlearnguitar Thank you Kevin! ;-)
Awesome classic. Thank you Kevin....
My pleasure!
That was a great lesson. Slow - easy - clear. I’m 72 and started learning 10 years ago. Still learning how much I don’t know. That was so fun. Can’t wait to play it. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
3 week newbie here, with a piano background. I sounded like a pine knot in a saw mill before I found this channel. It had me feelin' lower than a hog's chin on market day, but now I'm happier than cat at a fish fry! In fact, I'm so happy, I subscribed!
Welcome to the challenge. Your sug makes us happier than Maggie with a bone. :)
Finding the "Relax and Learn Guitar" channel has made me happier than a gopher in soft dirt. You have lessons for my favorite songs, and have a talent for 'splainin' thing reeel easy like, but most of all your personality makes me feel likin' we's kin!
Love your comments! Thanks for watching and we are happy to help
Hi Kevin, another great lesson... ! Thank you very much.. But I miss your wife !?
Bravo
I love your relaxing lessons! Thank you!
Glad you like them!
Thanks - love this lesson
My pleasure!
Great transitions very clean cover
Thanks a lot!
So, I have been wondering for a while what song I could put these walk ups and downs or making a song with these three chords that include these three chords. I would like ideas/suggestions from you because you have lot more experience.
Walk the line uses several walk ups and downs and I believe there is an a d and e in there. kzread.info/dash/bejne/hmxnt6yAfbq-Z5M.htmlsi=2kQeZnOy3i6zOfos
@@Relaxandlearnguitarthanks for the advice. Do you know of a way to change the D to a B7 chord? Is there a way to walk up or down from either a A or E to a B7?
Do We have tab for this? Thanks.
I provide tabs for all song lessons inside my membership.
