I am a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Practitioner & Western Pharmacist from Australia. My Father is a TCM Practitioner in Malaysia and I grew up learning TCM from him from a very young age. I later gained my qualification from Australia and then further my training in China for 3 years.
Here I share simple and easy-to-make recipes, health tips, and traditional wisdom for holistic well-being. My goal is to make TCM more approachable and practical in everyday life.

Wonderful and full of information-- Thank you
My pleasure 😊 glad that the video has been helpful 😊
@ChineseHerbalPantry, can we use beef bones or chicken feet?
@momiji, yes you can use either of them. Beef in general is slightly warming , so the recipe will become slightly more warming than my original recipe. Chicken feet might make the soup a little more oily.
Love from 🇮🇳 ❤
Can I add dry Logan?
Hi @christinechow, yeah you can add dry logan. A couple of notes about adding logan, it is slightly warming, but it should be ok as it may compliment the 'coldness' of monk fruit. It can calm our 'Shen' so it can be helpful for anxiety or stress. However, it is quite sweet, so not suitable for people with diabetes. Before we adding ingredient, it is best to understand the property of the herb, why do you wan to add it, and is there any precautions. Hope this helps! This is what my membership teaches. I started Silat and Escrima in 1993. In 2008 I switched to Tai Chi. I know how to use 156 Herbs. I tested them singly and with some formulas. Right now I am Fasting and drinking Licorice Root and Korean Ginseng Shakes! Mike.
Ty for your recipe. Recently I found that seasoning at the beginning makes the soup taste much better.
@Christinechow, my pleasure! Yeah adding seasoning at the beginning will make the soup taste better! However, usually I prefer to add it at the end, as I find it easier to adjust the level of seasoning after all the flavours of the herbs released, especially for beginner or new to a particular recipe. If newcomer, they won't know what the herbs actually taste like, adding the seasoning at the start may make it too salty or otherwise. It is nice to know how the herbs taste before all flavouring, it is learning process to learn the quality of the herbs before adding too much flavouring!
"Kanji" is ancient Tamil word ,it's after boild the rice filter the water is called "Kanji" ,full of protein easy digest.

@ChineseHerbalPantry I have to earn money first before I can enrol on your course as I want to learn more of TCM. ATM I am redesigning all my specialist budget cookery books to get republished for successful global sales I am paying a professional company to do. Until those payments are completed I will not have the finance to enrol onto your course but will in the future. Many thanks for simple easy to follow tutorials on TCMs. Out of all TCM videos you are the best teacher I find. ❤❤❤

Thank you for this recipe 🙏🏼 I would love to see you do a video on blood deficiency, as it is so common with women. Lot's of love from Perth WA x
@emily, thanks for the suggestion. Will see what I can do!
❤can I use fish?
@venternicky, yes you can use fish 😊
@venternicky, oh but if you want to use fish in instant pot, the fish will fall apart though. If you want to use fish, depending what fish you use, either at the last 5-10 minutes and make sure don't overcook it!
Please share a tea recipe which can be taken with food and does not hinder with nutrients absorption.
So after I drink the tea. Do I eat the berries? Or do I have to?
@deebrantley, no you don't have to eat the berries as after brewing, the berries lose their flavor and we assume the nutrients are in the tea. I don't usually eat them but if they still look fresh and nice to eat , I would too. It is a personal choice 😊
Loved it….thank you so much…great hearing the different properties of the beans
@terri, so glad to hear 😊

hi Shirley, sorry I wasn’t sure how else to send a comment. Do you have any recommendations for interstitial cystitis.
What do you think of a TCM doctor prescribing me herbal powder with Hua Shi? I didn’t know it was talcom powder until I looked up the translation 😭.
We South Africans like lentil, tomato and onion soup. We love 🫘since I live in Taiwan 🇹🇼 I do love these herbal soups!!! ❤
@vwnternicky, oh lovely to hear! 😊 I love lentil, tomato and onion soup too! 😋
I’m working on a Tea blend of Rasberry leaves , Dong Quai and Bergamont , That’s how I landed on your channel actually Please do let me know your thoughts on my blend 🫶🏾
Is it possible to make this using cold brew?
Well this help so no longer need glasses?
This is not Kanji, only half of the process, find original Kanji recipes in India. Thousands of year old in tamilnadu. Best of luck friends. Finally it's a fermented dish and not hot rice soup.
Can we exclude the black bean? Will it have the same function/benefit?
Safe travels. What is good TCM for reversing type 2 diabetes and lowering cholesterol levels please instead of taking chalk based medicines for these long term medical conditions? BTW if I go on one of your courses can I study for a qualification in TCM please? Thank you for sharing your TCM expert knowledge and travels.
Thank you! Diabetes and high cholesterol are complex diseases. There would be no one herb that I could recommend for everyone. Ideally, please see a TCM practitioner who also can work with a family doctor to manage these together. As for my course, no, it is NOT for qualification in TCM. It is a beginner course for general public who wants to learn the basics of TCM, and learn how to cook with herbs for general wellbeing. Please look for credited courses that are recognised by your local regulating body if you want to be qualified for TCM. All the best and thanks for supporting my work here! 😊
@@ChineseHerbalPantry Thank you Shirley for getting back to me. I shall visit a TCM doctor and study a course for a TCM qualification with a regulated body either online or in the UK local to me. It is something I grew up using and therefore knows it works. I have decades of experiences in TCM as a patient and is why now I want a qualification in it to practice on the public with. Again thank you for your sound helpful advice. Keep your good work up and pump out more TCM and Western herbal medicines to know the comparisons for which herbs work for whatever specific medical or mental health conditions on people and how to prevent ill health using herbs only.
@@theraconteurproductions5847 that's so lovely to hear that you want to become qualified in TCM! I'm sure you'll enjoy the TCM study! I have a few TCM practitioners took my course and found it very helpful too. This is because TCM qualification courses usually focus on complex herbal prescription but they don't teach much about cooking with Chinese herbs. So after your graduate, and you feel that you need to learn more about cooking with Chinese herbs for everyday use (not for clinical health condition), then you can come back to consider my course. All the best for this journey!
@@ChineseHerbalPantry Thank you Shirley. I like to see more videos you cooking TCMs for more common health problems please? You simplify TCM and I like it as very easy to follow. Your videos I think are brilliant.
@@theraconteurproductions5847 thank you for your kind words!
