I saw your review for Vitara, and I enjoyed it a lot because it was comprehensive. After that, I started searching for your review for S-Cross. I'm planning to get one of them, but I'm not sure yet which one! If you're the one who's going to buy, which one will you choose and why?
The mini first came out in the 50s
Easy mistake lol 1959 I believe
Thank you. Good, clear review! 🙂
While I love my 2018 Mustang GT convertible so much, I would dearly love to have a Healey BN2 Le Mans. Or just a BN 1 or 2. Just , lol. More than just. I had a tri carb I never got back on the road (divorce) . ALWAYS wished I had.
Looking easier for BMW/Mini now, Fiesta cancelled so no more Fiesta ST, i20N cancelled
2 very good hot hatches so you are bang on although the Mini is a rather good car and hoping I can drive the JCW at some point. Hot hatches generally are a dying breed as everything is going SUV
I'm genuinely curious about how good this could be as a daily. Looking at spec the high end trims come with gear you'd usually find on *much* bigger cars (massaging seats! in a Mini! AR navigation, 360 cameras, heads up display etc) along with a pretty comprehensive suite of driver assist systems. If the ride and noise are on the right side of civilised (and from the bowl test it's looking good) while still letting it drive like, well, like a mini then as weird as it sounds a Cooper S Sport with level 3 options coming in just under £36k might be something of a bargain with the way car prices have gone recently.
I really like everything about the car, while the boot is not that big you could do a weekly shop, a single suitcase or several soft carry on bags. It’s certainly bigger than my R53, comfortable and as you saw at 100mph not that loud (you would probably have music on as well) if you can drive 1 or an extended test drive I would consider it. Still feels like a mini as well
Good review. I really want one of these. I have a 1.5 F56 but I’d love the 2.0. It’s one of the few new drivers cars you can buy for reasonable money.
Engine felt nice and responsive with a good amount of torque, fun if you want to push it. Not sure on PCP payments but Minis seem to hold there value and especially as it’s not electric
Loved the review, Im so jealous you got to try this XD, i miss my 2016 f56 so much and have regretted getting rid of it ever since. this new model might be the next one in my garage.
Glad you enjoyed it and hopefully in the very short time I had the car it gives you a feel of what the car is like. It was good driving the new Countryman electric followed by the cooper S.
The looks are growing on me but such a shame no manual!
I had a feeling the JCW was going to be offered as a manual but cannot find where I read that so maybe a dream lol. If the cooper S feels this good the JCW should be great to drive. My R53 is fun to drive and I’m certain would be quicker but this feels so much more refined and really like the interior. Styling is good just different and does not look as aggressive as previous models.
@@DamoDrivesThey've been running an F66 JCW at Nurburgring recently and that's an automatic. Pretty sure the 1 to 6 will be the last manual.
Nice review and car looks good although visual distinction between Cooper and S is less apparent with no bonnet vent and tail pipes. Big issue for me is that F56 had manual capability on all automatic models, either through gear lever or paddles. For latest gen, with removal of gear lever, need to buy Sport trim at extra £3,500 to get paddles. Also not keen on removal of rotary controller, climate control knobs, etc.
I prefer physical buttons although a lot of things you won’t change once set. Audio controls can be done on steering wheel so maybe not as big a problem ! I would need to live with 1 really.
Styling wise similar although those who know will know what it is although most none car people don’t care that much 😂
@@DamoDrivesI'm sure it will sell well. BMW have probably researched that most current drivers use the touchscreen anyway and that many DCT owners probably aren't even aware of the manual option or have never used it. Would be great if you're able to review the new Cooper 1.5 now with 156hp and 0-62 in 7.7 secs. Pretty good for a base model.
Have you any knowledge on updates to the suspension, chassis or anything that has changed to improved handling or ride compared to the last generation. I appreciate that the petrol version is essentially the same underpinnings but was assuming the new gen would get some sort of upgrade. Cheers.
Hi Tim thanks for taking the time to comment, afraid I did not get enough time to find that out as I was unaware i was going to drive it but I can say it felt very composed and handled everything the 2 circuits I tried it on very well.
@@DamoDrives Thanks for the reply, best wishes.
Like your review ,I've owned 4 swifts to Date ,the current swift I own is a sz5 mild hybrid.its a great reliable, fun to drive little car , I like your in-depth explanation of hybrid system it's good to know 😊
It would be more interesting for the viewer if you would show the car you are talking about in between instead of just filming yourself.
I completely agree so sorry I can not do that but each person only has access to it for 25 minutes (that included setting up the cameras) it’s great to get access to the cars but having them for longer so I can do them justice and show them in more detail
Must have really compact catalyst converters!!🤔
Sorry, there is wireless Chargen, even in the 2019 Model.
6 YEARS later and STILL no cars have actually been produced! What a load of shite! Was it some giant scam or money laundering scheme?
It’s sad it’s not out , I have been lucky enough to drive a few TVRs since and they are so much fun
i dont think you understand what this compound is for
Going on instructions and video from the company but happy to learn , what is compound for ?
@@DamoDrives its a cutting compound it cuts through lacquer or 2k solids to get rid of orange peel bad paint jobs etc, you cant just use it has a normal polish
Polish went on after this! I followed the instructions online and on the pack it came In ( multi pack of clay, compound and polish) when should this be used in the process ??
Remember carl building this and seeing this drive about lowestoft... i loved the rat passat he did
Nice car but you would need your head examining to pay £55k for a Mini. Price comparisons with other cars, particularly the well equipped Korean and Japanese brands, is pretty meaningless when you have to add so many options to get to a like for like basis.
Cheaper than the BMW ix2 spec for spec mind you. It is a lot of money though
Great review, buddy. It's good to see you back. Look forward to the Aceman review as and when, one of my possible future models, if I take the electric plunge. Hope you're keeping well.
Hi Darren glad you enjoyed the video, would love to have more time with the car to really understand it and give more detail. Aceman in theory should be a good car as it’s a bit smaller than the countryman. I also drove the new petrol Cooper S (video should be out next week) and similar and different
it is not 10 percent more more like 40-50% more ;) as you are going to make half less in full * tank*
finally real test
nice review damo... but vegan isn't good for the environment... and recycled interior is IMO just a way of make us feel good for having cheap mashed up plastic chemical materials :)
It would be interesting to find out the actually impact but I could imagine it’s incredibly complex to quantify (in the same way battery impact vs ice)
@@DamoDrives Exactly, and its very difficult to get a non biased view, and co2 and global warming is a con anyway... its pollution and poisoning we should all try to prevent. Thats why personally I've been more looking at cars or tech for their actual value (cost and function) rather than eco cred nonsense which everyone can just argue about. After having an ev + diy solar for 2 years now, personally I'd not go back, the reduced maintenance, smoothness, relaxation and ease of driving with 1 pedal etc... and I used to love the revving up and changing of gears etc while driving smooth and fast. So personally I won't be buying any new ev's, or any car, but looking to 5+ years old, and only Teslas. Once people understand how the charging charging curves work, and the best bat % to not leave the car in for any time to prolong the life etc, simple change the mindset a little, i think its great if you have off road parking+charging at home. If you don't have your own charger though or work place to charge, I think people should just wait, and upgrade their living first, get out of towns with no drives or space around them. Oh and the eco nutters who keep pushing this as its saving the world with fake CO2 are just driving people away I think.
That fake engine sound would drive me nuts. Hard pass on that. If you must fake an engine found use a RR Merlin. Otherwise looks pretty decent but there are other EVs out there which are equally decent. Would I own one? At the right price and I wouldnt pay a premium for its mini ish ness. Its way overpriced. Maybe as I already own two EVs my perspective is a little different.
I would have liked more time with the car as I’m sure you can turn of the fake sounds. Price wise it was really well specked , top build quality and comfortable but £55,000 is a lot. What EVs do you own ?
@DamoDrives A Vauxhall Mokka-e and a Fiat500e. Which are a comfy lavishly equipped Cruiser and a rocket powered go kart!
EVs, look good beside the Bentley and horse box BUT, Fingers crossed you can spend 3hrs at petrol station, lot of charging stations get the copper nicked, then the range, Battery worthless after 7 years, a lot of fires with the current charging tech, insurance is soaring, Nah, my 1.6 has 13 years on it and will last another 10 for running costs
Wow you've bought into the anti EV propaganda. 7 years? Laughable .
My R53 is 22 years old with lots of character but I do like the new styling and build quality.
@@howardbowen-RC-Pilot didn't mention the hrs to wait at petrol stations Which aren't in LEZ zones so nice filter to I hope, or the amount of vandalized power charges, my point was its fine if you do less than 100 miles and charge at home, reasonable I'm sure.
Exactly the chemistry dosn't want to be kept above 80% for long, or empty also and in cold weather you need to keep a charge, and alot of people have damaged their cars (including dealers) and then 7 years etc is very true. Our 2013 11 year old 24kw nissan leaf still has 86% but this isn't typical, there are simple habits just like with ice cars and oil changes or checking levels that people don't do and are surprised that things get Fucckkdfdfed.
Avoid EVs
Your not a fan of EVs I assume
@@DamoDrives No not really, I just don't like the way they are being forced onto people by government.
exactly, if you don't have a drive and can't charge at home they are useless.
Is that a golf😢
I used the tool but when mine dried up it had white compound that won't clean off even tho I clean it over and over with a rag and water
Quick detailed chemical guys
You can't classify a compact anything as a family car, they're way too small.
Did you figure out what had gone wrrong with thee car im curious
Yet again the review is done on a car with thousands of pounds of extras . Why do they never test drive the basic model
Where'd you get that wind deflector I'm looking for something like that
What’s the MPG?
Great video. Thanks!
It’s a motorway car designed and built for munching the miles at a speed most of us are not accustomed to here in the UK. It needs to be driven at motorway speeds and for extended periods of time. If you don’t drive a lot of fast miles this is not the car for you. Check out some of the petrol versions. The 430i and 435i (xdrive) are as equally enjoyable to drive and own. Watch for the options packages fitted to some of these models. There are some very nicely specified cars out there. If in the market be patient and make yourself familiar. The LCi cars have some equipment available in them that rival the later model at bargain prices.
More speed in the corners equals collisions with other road users, yeahhh I’m gonna be a killjoy cars driven like they have been stolen should l be on the roads
Sadly, no shop like 1320 MINI in the USA.....Great job guys !
do you get many mini’s in the USA ? Or is it tuning them is not very popular.
What’s the color of this car?
I paid about $11000.00 for my 2012 Roadster S cabriolet and I don't think that I could be any happier. It is a great little drivers car. Its fun on steroids and a real looker in all black with matching trim. Super fun car and insane in the twisties. If you find one, I recommend you purchase it. You wont be sorry. It is worth many many miles of smiles. CHEERS!!!!!!!
My friend is very happy with it, was a bit out of my price range so I have a R53 Cooper S with quite a few mods. Rather have a convertible but still fun
Hey what offset of those Wheels if you know thank you
8J but not sure of the offset ,
Damo says don't buy that one it's had a bang in the door...
??
@@DamoDrives A round 50 miles?
Sre you even using any pressure it looks like your just barely touching the paint?
This giu shouldnt be doing thia
BROTHER NEVER EVER WORK IN THE SUN NO!!! Omg good luck the chemicals in the bottle actually become harmful in the sun in the shade and the car needs to be cool to the touch. Rule of thumb if you can’t do it in the shade don’t it it
You know nothing about cars or how to drive. All a bit self-indulgent. Was that the point?
Thank you for the feedback
never work under the sun ..NEVER
Very enjoyable video Damo, thank you, 😎.
Glad you enjoyed it
I'll put it this simply...I had a Mark 1 from new - totally stock - and I really miss it. Think I might just have to revisit ownership again soon.
Remember following the build. Cool af
