So I'm kind of curious, did you ever watch the Monster anime? It's probably my generic stock answer in the off chance if someone asks me what my favorite anime is. I also think Gungrave is far better than those Netflix game adaptations but that is besides the point.

As someone who has dunked on ubisoft from the sidelines like everyone else. Having barely played any of their games. I want to open my mind to playing these games: assassin's creed, far cry, splinter cell, ghost recon, at least the ones people consider good.

Great points throughout, i wish Dirt Rally (1+2) would've been mentioned in there somewhere. Even though everyone nowadays jumps on the "Richard Burns was the ONLY GOOD Rally game" hyetrain, i really do think Dirt Rally is way more polished than other contemporary Racers, even if it's not the same type of racing.

I hated the driving sections but luckily cheats made them bearable... the FPS sections wear absolutely Golden. Eh, eh? I sold my copy years ago, unfortunately needed money. But my roommate had never played it so I just bought a copy today to share this jewel of a game.

I'm surprised you mentionned the Charge version of the weapon as the weakest. In my experience, obtaining it and a few good mods for it made every single other weapon redundant and turned my gameplay into "shoot all nukes in my gun, throw all the stuff I can, shoot again...".

Its because we KNOW that UBI can make good games. Its just that they are always either playing it WAY to safe making the same thing. Or chasing a trend until it fails. Ive been playing AC Origins which was the last title to make them PUSH into a new direction. If feels as tho after the 2 big winners. AC2 and Origins. They haven't pushed risk.

I could not agree more on how bullshit the movement system in this game can be. The level of visual fluidity Rockstar achieved is commendable, and there is a very palpable sense of weight whenever you dive into walls, strafe, etc. Problem is there are so many instances during normal play where Max simply refuses to do as he's told and will end up killed as a result. I've lost track of the amount of times I've died during Last Stand mode because I couldn't turn fast enough, had no rounds left in the mag, the enemy had gone behind cover, or gunned down because Max simply can't get on his feet quickly enough from hitting into a wall from a shootdodge. This sorta shit has no place in a momentum-based action shooter.

After playing Silent Hill 2 way back when, I finally played Silent Hill 3 many years later, only to find it a largely inferior and lackluster sequel to what I personally consider a near-perfect odyssey of personal horror. Don't get me wrong; Silent Hill 3 isn't a _bad_ game in my view, but it largely pales in comparison to its predecessor. Then I played Spec Ops: The Line, and later Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. I personally consider them to be an honorary Silent Hill 3 and 4, respectively. They're both equally riveting tales of personal horror in my view, and as far as I'm concerned, the three titles - Silent Hill 2, Spec Ops: The Line, and Hellblade - are a sort of unofficial trilogy for me. But that's just me, though.

Then I remembered that Ubisoft got me too with the same damn trick. Mario+Rabbids: Kingdom Battle is one of the most fun tactics games I've ever played. It's sequel, Sparks of Hope is, well... a Ubisoft game. Something about seeing the "Sign in to uPlay!" prompt plastered on top of Mario of all people just broke something in me. And I am infuriated. Also Driver: San Francisco was so original and so cool, and we will never see it again 😢
