Helping beginner photographers find their way with photography and get better. New photography videos are released every Wednesday! Thanks for stopping by!
i am kind of in a weird spot. i was shooting heavy dslrs years back before i stopped and wanted to get back into but my behaviour changed aswell and carrying around heavy cameras isnt all that appealing anymore. right now i m using an old iphone 5s as a tiny point and shoot for when i m around and its a lot of fun and creates nice photos too. my initial plan was to get some mirrorless fuji or something but now i m actually considering just getting a new iphone. the thing is: 1. you can take great photos with every camera. you can take contest winning stuff with the worst cameras you can think of. 2. the best camera is the one you have with you is so true. i wont carry around a dedicated camera when i m on my way to work or when i do groceries or whatnot but you re missing so many opportunity shots there. 3. i rationalize and realize: why do i want to take photos now? because i enjoy it and it should be a hobby. by no means do i plan to make this a job or go ''professional'' ... do i really ''NEED'' a ''professional'' camera for a hobby? well... if i am truthful, the answer is probably no. overall it might just be the best call to just get a new iphone instead

Canon t3i. This is more for after your first camera. You will most likely need to know what f stop, shutter speed, iso, etc. Takes great pictures and cheap. I would recommend a 55-250 lens and an 18-35. That's just my opinion though.

Dunno... 21% of battery usage the end of the day by filming pro raw, 4k30? That's nowhere near normal phone usage... and it still made it to the end of the day. Doesn't sound that bad. But battery health... yeah.

Thanks for the video, a friend just bought the 15 pro and we noticed that the colors are weird sometimes. For example violet gets a blue touch, if something white is in the frame (eg a white paper), the colors are more accurate. Is there anything in the settings that can help to make the colors more natural?

Thanks, for lens tip and contrast with tap the "Sun". Did not even know that was there. I found myself always adding Contrast about 10-15, and sometimes increasing Black Point 10 using the Apple edit on 15Pro. Thanks again!

1. Raw files are big. Takes a lot of space. I switched to jpegs after realizing that I don't need all the raw data all the time. So switching to Raw is not a need. 2. Focus mode on Spot? Modern cameras these days have great subject tracking. I have mine on tracking all the time. I just go to spot when needed. So this is also a no. 3. Center weighted? What if you want to expose on your subject who's not in the middle? It's better to keep it on Matrix because it exposes everything in the frame. Therefore, not a need. Instead of saying these things as "Camera settings you NEED to change when getting a new camera", it's better to teach beginners what these settings are for and when to use them.

I love my 50mm 1.4 GM, it is currently my favorite of my three GM 1.4 lenses (24/35/50) I usually travel with two cameras and leave the 50mm on the Sony and combine it with my Q3.
@Cthames1236 күн бұрын
Whats your body that you use your 50mm, f1.4, GM? You have a nice collection of G-masters lenses. I have the 24mm and just got the 50mm, f1.4 that I had been pining for, for some time. With your Q3(28mm), seems you have the wider focal lengths of your 24 and 35 covered for your travels, but isn’t there an equivalent APSC super 35 crop in mode in the Leica Q3, 60MP sensor that lets you really time crop and extend the focal length out to 90mm? Now, given the GMaster lenses are clinically razor sharp, and distortion free (awesome), but why not use your Q3 60MP, (crop until you can’t crop any more), one camera be all end all for travel?
@Cthames1236 күн бұрын
Also, Leica is not Sony but would like to hear how you would compare and contrast your Leica Q3, with it’s 28mm, f1.7 lens to your Sony 24mm, f1.4, GM lens.
@t87h216 күн бұрын
@@Cthames123 I own the A7 IV. The Q3 cannot replace the Sony, and the same cannot be said for the Sony. The Sony is a workhorse and very reliable, the 50mm in particular is razor sharp and produces great colors. The Leica is most impressive because of its great workmanship, it gives me more emotion, allows me to take more thoughtful and slower photos. The great thing is that you can see an almost perfect image through the viewfinder without any editing. 50mm 1.4 and 28mm 1.7 on 50mm crop are not the same. An example: I had the 50mm and the Q3 with me on a trip to Barcelona, and I used the Q3 a lot more. I recently photographed a wedding at the registry office, and the 50mm did 90% of the work.
@t87h216 күн бұрын
@@Cthames123 The 24 mm 1.4 is brighter, and I would say that in combination with the a7IV, night shots are better. The Q3 seems like 26mm-28mm to me, so not quite as wide. The Leica's images have more three-dimensional depth and you can see that through the viewfinder. Since I own the Leica, the 24mm is less on it, but the Leica can't take night shots as well as the 24mm 1.4.
