Playing Nine Sols right now. Gameplay is very good but the bosses are kinda underwhelming. But the Bosses in BŌ: Path of teal lotus look dope tho.

I think only Ghost 1.0 is a metroidvania, and as the video mentions, it has a roguelite mode. Roguevania is actually becoming a term too.

I make it a big deal (didn’t want to do it. Many games these days are cross between the two. Dead Cells is great example. Rougelite but can’t get to other places very easily without other gear found elsewhere. Trinity Fusion, (incredible game!) does the same. Quite a few.

I think they priced themselves out for a lot of people. The genre is typically defined by its brevity and repeating gameplay and exploration. Asking $50 for it was kinda steep.

Pirnce of Persia is undoubtedly the most underrated GEM in years, if not decades - its gameplay is insanely perfect, level design and platforming is top notch, and boss battles are epic ❤

Nine Sols arguably has the best plot Metrodvania has to offer thus far so it's my game of the year . Most Metrodvania has weak/ convoluted story , or story that's too shallow you don't even care . Nine Sols, however, tells a gripping story while keeping all the best part of Metrodvania.
