I'm disappointed the University of Illinois didn't get a D1 program. They had the support but couldn't get government funding for a new rink downtown.

what is typical players level go like D3 prep school showcases, my guess it's AAA and AA? I womder as it's hard really to compare AA and AAA even due typically US market has just one AAA team per region, unless some club is playing unofficial AAA bracket but don't count as AAA team.

another solid video. I was a little surprised at the low numbers of D3 commits as I would have thought D3 teams would have been packed with MN players but D3 schools for the most part are private and very expensive. All the D3 programs in MN are very expensive. WI has a nice state university system with multiple D3 schools. I know this was just for the boys side of things but I'd be interested to know the girls numbers as it seems like 1/3 of the PWHL is from MN. As a parent here in MN and former player, I've heard a lot of parents and coaches discourage their kids from going and playing juniors, even after HS. "its a waste of time, just go get your degree. If you weren't drafted or recruited D1, it wasn't meant to be." or something along those lines. That is changing a bit as the numbers come out that it typically takes 1-3 years of juniors to get a D1 scholarship but that mentality is still very prevalent around the rinks here in MN.

Not mention the Upper Midwest High School Elite League is a fall league where the best varsity players in the Midwest play each weekend from August-Oct. This gives them a high level of competition and an additional 20 games before the HS season starts. These Elite League teams compete against them selves and also Ann Arbor, SSM. And honestly I’d say it’s a toss up on who wins those games. It’s amazing hockey to watch.
