    At the risk of nobody reading this essay: 1. Thank you for all the content released, it takes a lot of effort to put out 2 hour, detailed videos and it can be a very ungrateful job. 2. Hope you have a good time with whatever you decide to do next and hope it's not the end for the channel. 3. I completely understand what you're saying. I have 13k hours on DotA 2, have been playing since invite only beta, have organized community wide events, official leagues, been a coach and participated in both ranked and league play. I stopped playing altogether a year ago due to changes I really disliked and I thought were mostly put in the game to appeal to new/lower skill players. It's been years of these changes and at some point I think they just reached critical mass and game became so bland and unfun that I thought quitting was the best idea. My life's been much better since. 4. I like to play Tekken on occasion, but it isn't my main game. I have struggled with getting consitent fun out of the game since T7 and while I still occasionally open T8 and play a couple of matches it is as you said: very difficult to enjoy the game at times. I have never had these feelings about any other fighting game: they're always straight up bad (in my opinion) or great and fun (at least most of the time). Hope they do realize they will not live off casual players for long as you can't really shove a fighting game down their throats and make them play it. Eventually they too will consider this boring and unsatisfying. STAY STRONG

    Okay, so it is basically rock, paper scissors. You can duck, unless she does a mid, you can step unless she does a tracking move with them, you can block, but you will never stop being mashed, you can block but she can do a low. Really annoying character. No wonder why people are toxic torwards the character when only thing you can do is predict, KBD if you can even do it or eat endless plus frames moves.

    🤔 this video is saying Lidia looks op and is gonna be busted and she’s not even top 15. Also people hating forget that tekken 7 made you pay for frame data and that this game is in a vanilla state. Tekken 7 was in arcade for about 2y, this game didn’t come out in arcades, only a few days on beta. Don’t get me wrong I have a lot of problems on tekken 8 but let’s not act like tekken 7 was this perfect game with no problems (terrible balancing even in the end, frame data needing to be payed for, also had things u had to pay for which was useless which people always forget, etc)

    I agree with you wholeheartedly. It's so sad because I love Tekken so much. This game is far from balanced. Match ups no longer really matter. As a lars fan, I understand that he'll never be as good as Kazuya, Dragonov, or Feng, etc... battle pass is trash and shouldn't even be there. I also hate that certain characters receive so much grace. I land on the ground, and they still catch me with a low or a mid, days later to continue their combo. I've backed away from the game too. I made it to Fujin with King. But got demoted to mighty ruler and pretty much lost interest. Especially after king got nerfed. Most of all, the "pros" praise this trash game and call it balanced. Then they keep blowing Arslan. Saying he's the best hands down and he keeps winning everything. That's bullshit. There are too many good players. I believe it's fixed too. This is why I despise mainstream because everything is a lie. Thank you for being real.

That stupid time jump in Tekken 3, combined with that stupid ending where Paul Phoenix gets screwed over was the start of that I.P.'s downfall! Tekken 4 is definitely the shark jump for this I.P. The stupid Mishima family feud is basically the problem for this series. Especially when they introduced Heihachi's FATHER! The Mortal Kombat 1 reboot is better than Tekken 8!

    Tekken 8 is still very young. As the more casual playerbase moves away from the game, the remaining economic incentive associated with Tekken 8 will be related to the more hardcore fanbase. If this, more hardcore, fanbase doesn't like the state of the game, it is likely to see continuous changes for the next 5+ years.

    Heat isn't going anywhere and when was the last time you saw them REMOVE an attack during a games life? Because rewokring heat and straight up deleting moves is what it will take to make the game actually good. Not to mention the garbage backdash which will absolutely not change because bamco hate movement.

  • @TheDudere
    @TheDudere19 сағат бұрын

    @LegendaryPlank Over Tekken 7's lifespan they basically made all the changes you are suggesting they never made. Movement was buffed after release, moves were nerfed to the extent that they were no longer used much (effectively "removing" them), and completely new moves and mechanics were added to the cast of characters up until the very end of Tekken 7's lifespan. Heat will probably always be in the game,but it's strength and functionality will likely see major changes over the next few years, particularly if the remaining playerbase doesn't like it.

    I am a defensive player too and intiially I hated T8. And I still prefer T7. But v1.05 patch was a big change to good direction. They are listening to feedback. v1.05 nerfed demon paws. Now you can’t repeatedly spam them as they don’t have pushback anymore. -9 on block in your face. Throws no more are homing. High power crushes lost tracking. Heat bursts can be stepped too (v1.04/v1.05) and some most overpowered ones lost range. Defensive play style got buffed. I wish they would still do something to the +17 heat engager. Many characters can follow up with big plus on block mid (with heavy chip damage) and all you can do is block 2 times in a row and then they are plus for the third mixup. Would be much more interesting if heat engager was only +5. There would be some risk involved in pressing your slowest plus on block mid in that case. One thing that I hate is stance based characters. They even had to give Jack a stance now. Overwatch had a very good diverse cast, felt like they mixed all game genres together. A characters for everybody. There’s room in T8 for a T7 style defensive characters with no stances. Just good old fashioned neutral play. Not every character has to have the same mechanics.

  • @LegendaryPlank

    Not to sound like a dick, but I always considered you to be one of the most perceptive Tekken content creators, and honestly I'm a bit disappointed it took you this long to see this game for what it is 😅. Personally, being a long time fan of the franchise, I saw the writing on wall few years back, and realized Tekken is never going to be the game again that I fell in love with. From casual perspective, its story was ruined. From game play perspective, it was obvious to me by the T7, that Harada and the team were creatively bankrupt. No future vision of the franchise. T7 to me was like a well executed horror monster cross over movie. Like Alien vs Predator or something lol, but instead of horror monsters it was T5 gameplay + 2D mechanics sprinkled on top. Yeah, it's fun the first time around, but the fact they were doing it, means the creative energy is gone and franchise has come to its end. So, I've stopped playing the game and turned it into spectator sport (and T7 was good spectator sport). But then as soon as they revealed the heat mechanics and went all aggressive with "aggression", I knew T8 is going to be a shit show. The game is atrocious to watch, can't even imagine what is it like to play. I've tried watching EVO on Aris' YT, and ended up watching the 3rd strike, at least that is fun 2D game, unlike this identity crisis mess we have in T8. You are right, the game is fundamentally broken on design level, and no amount of patching is going to fix it. I'm just sorry for you, other members of community and competitors for having to through rude awakening...

    Sadly didn't get to catch this live, but it's great to see you branching out - and picking my favorite character! I've got a few pointers if you're open to them: 1) As mentioned by a couple of chatters, your best anti-air option is usually light gladius (236LP). The fact it absorbs an upper-body hit makes it a strong option for punishing not only jump-ins, but _most_ degenerate approaches on the ground as well. You'll learn the exceptions as you play, so don't sweat it for now. 1.1) Generally speaking, use gladius to stuff jumps that come in at a low angle, and 2HP to stuff jumps that come in at a steep angle. Gladius can work for steeper jump-ins, but learning to vary your options is always a good idea. 2) Marisa's fastest button is her crouching light punch (2LP), which you can hit 2 times before cancelling into light dimachaerus (214LP). For example, if you're trying to check someone while they're up close, a good hit confirm to start practicing is 2LP > 2LP xx 236LP on block, and 2LP > 2LP xx 214LP on hit. While not perfect, you won't run into players who can consistently punish it until high Diamond. 2.1) For slightly further checks, get in the habit of using standing light kick (5LK). It's only one frame slower than 2LP, and can be cancelled into specials (and naturally combos into 214LP on hit). While I guess you can hit confirm this, it's not going to be easy, so don't waste your energy learning that at this point. 3) Drive Impact, while extremely high reward on hit, is extremely high risk. It's best reserved as a once-a-match, if not once-a-set reversal and/or mixup option. You're catching people with it a lot right now, but you'll want to nip that habit in the bud - otherwise, you'll hit a pretty hard wall later on. 3.1) Your best bet for a non-super reversal is going to be either OD Gladius (236PP) for highs and mids, or OD Scutum (214KK) for lows. 4) Beware of modern players. While they have fewer options than Classic controls, they have one very important strength: one-button supers. Their reversal supers essentially become rage arts, whereas yours are still gated behind a long, relatively complex input, meaning they can react to your offense at the same speed you can hit a jab.

  • @FGCfoof
    @FGCfoof2 күн бұрын

    As for more basic, cheesy tips, I have a couple of those as well. 1) After 214LP, a VERY slightly delayed (as in 1-3 frames), fully charged 6HK will hit the opponent extremely meaty, leaving you +6 in their face 2) 5MP > 5MP > fully charged gladius is a good blockstring to punish people who try to Drive Impact out of your pressure. 3) ... 214PP > 236LK is a strong and simple way to end combos midscreen, if you're using 214PP, since it leaves you closer to the opponent than gladius.

    One thing that can help with super cancels is that if you do for example a quarter circle forward kick and the move you wanna cancel it with is a super with double quarter circle foward you can just do a second quarter circle kick because the quarter circle from the first kick is also counted as half of the super input.

    Oh, and regarding the input you said was annoying around 45:00, most 2D games don't have the same kind of direction strictness that 3D games have. So when you're doing Back + hold HP, you can tap the direction and the button, then keep the button held down while you move the stick anywhere else, including the motion input for the Forward, Down, Down-Forward + PP superman punch. So you could do the combo like this: - Back + HP - while holding HP, hold Forward - while HP is finishing the charge and about to swing, slide to Down - when HP connects, slide to Down-Forward and press PP

    I'm just starting this since I couldn't catch it live, but there's one thing I want you to know about how combos work (well, maybe two things): 1) A combo being "natural" depends on the amount of hitstun/frame advantage you have, whether it's a link OR cancel, and the frame advantage changes based on how it connects. Every attack can be affected by both counter hit (+2f), punish counter (+4f), being done out of a Drive Rush (+4f) and connecting against an opponent in burnout (+4f). These effects can stack, and you'll see the pop-up notifications on the side of the screen to tell you when they occur. There is an option in training mode to show the Frame Meter (general settings > The Frame Meter And You), which shows all of this in detail. For instance, Guile crouching medium punch (down + MP) is 0 on block and +4 on hit. On normal hit, Guile's only option is to link to crouching light punch (impact frame 4, or "4 frame startup" in 2D lingo). But if that crouching medium punch connects as a counter hit, then it becomes +6 on hit. This lets it link back into itself since it's i6, and then the second crouching medium punch goes back to being +4 on hit. If Guile does Drive Rush into crouching medium punch AND it connects as a counter hit, then it would be +10 on hit (+4 default, +2 from counter hit, +4 from Drive Rush). These rules are true for most attacks in the game, with a few fringe cases like connecting later in the active frames, or attacks that behave differently vs standing/crouching opponents. 2) When doing juggle combos (which are not necessarily the most damaging types of combos in all situations, mind you), there is an invisible Juggle Counter behind the scenes which goes up as the juggle continues. This might sound confusing and opaque since it's not referenced anywhere in the game, but in SF6 the JC is much more lenient than in previous SF games. Most moves that look like they "should" connect will connect, and most moves done out of Drive Rush will reset the JC back to 0. It is NOT necessary to know the below information in order to do combos, but I figured you might be curious. Every attack in the game has 3 values: - What it sets the JC to when it starts a juggle - What it increments the JC by when it is used in the middle of a juggle combo - The highest value JC it will connect with. Most Super and Overdrive moves have high juggle limit values so they reliably work at the end of long combos. For instance, imagine you have a move with starting value 2, incremental value 3, and maximum value 5. - You start the juggle with this move (JC 2), immediately connect with it again (JC 3), immediately connect again (JC 8), and it whiffs through your opponent the next time. - If that move had the values 3/3/5, then you could start a juggle combo with it (JC 3), do it immediately once (JC 6), and then it would stop working if you tried it again. Again, this level of understanding is NOT necessary and any combos you find people sharing will already take everything into account. You can look up some videos by Bafael on Street Fighter 4's juggle system to get an idea of how this system generally works, since SF6 uses the same general idea.

Ability to threaten Anti air after grab jump out (Like Cammy). Someone like Ed or Rashid, Juri, Ken, or Cammy. People say Sf6 is balanced. It sure is if you're one of those characters with access to the stuff above. Marisa got a MASSIVE nerf to both utility and ability to punish certain mechanics going from season 1 to Season 2 (you could hold scutum in the corner when burnt out and catch DI's. I hope Namco will balance heat in the near future (cuz thats imo the biggest problem of the game), if not, let's just hope tekken 9 will be more "skill demanding" than tekken 8. You covered evertything; nice video, truth was spoken.

    This game is about how sharp you are, reaction checks, like a real fight. Also situational awareness (how much meter both yall have, where are yall on the screen relative to the corner, burnout, health, and each character’s gimmick), these determine decisionmaking

    There is no problem. You simply don’t like a new game and can’t adapt to new mechanics cause you’re bad or unwilling to try. The pros have adapted after LEARNING and you are either refusing to learn or even give the game a chance. I’ve seen what T7 vanilla came from almost 10 years ago, and the fact you’re calling me kid just means your being a salty grump with a few decent points but mainly just being a salty person with a stick up their bum trying to dismiss anyone else’s points.

    @@FrameWhisperer Tell me you’ve never played a vanilla launch of a fighting game without telling me you’ve never played a vanilla launch of a fighting game. I agree with the chipotle stuff but gameplay wise you just need to take a break and stop being salty. I checked into your streams and other videos and more than a handful of even your community seems to notice your salty attitude and how you’re behaving lately. Genuinely appreciated your help in T7 learning the game. The reason I even brought up views is because it’s night and day with your attitude and I had to check the name and go back to even see if you’re the same person. Wish you the best but not gonna watch someone I respected decline so hard.

    @@Angeldemonhybrid172 My attitude changed because I started hating the game. Then I tried for weeks to rediscover my love for it but found it impossible. That's why I'm stopping. I don't wanna sit around and be negative either. Life's too short, and I think Tekken is objectively trash.

    Man, it's INSANE seeing people get mad about tier lists and "this trash game with no player expression" in stream chats. Do yourself a favor: ignore everyone like that and play who you want, just like any other game. Cool to see you playing SF6. It definitely has Modern Gaming™ problems like battle passes, and it sometimes degenerates into a crouching medium kick drive rush simulator, but the game's a ton of fun.

    @@FrameWhisperer Yes, but it's not a very good deal since you need to buy Fight Coins and then use those to buy the character (or other item), and you'll always be forced to buy them in wonky quantities that don't line up properly. There's another currency called Drive Tickets that you can gain from doing small challenges (like "look at one combo trial this week"), but you can't buy characters with Drive Tickets. Near the game's release they would sometimes give out character Rental Tickets, but I think they're less common now.
