A couple of frugal Vermonters that were able to retire early and enjoy life.
We bought our 22' Airstream International AS brand new in 2002. As of 2020 we've towed "The Luv Sub" over 81,000 miles in our nineteen seasons of camping. Our channel will take you along on our travels, show you some "How To" videos based upon what we've learned, and highlight the fun and fellowship that comes with attending rallies with the Wally Byam Airstream Club. Occasionally, we'll throw in a random travel video or two as well as our "Cooking with Cindy" playlist.

I'm having some difficulty in pulling and locking the hook arms into position, onto an open awning. Just mechanically difficult. Anyone else have difficulty with this operation?? ? Can the arm be adjusted? Lubricated?
We have been going to this campground for years. Unfortunately it was flooded last summer and has not reopened yet this year. Too much damage. We are waiting for all the repairs to be done.
Nice campground tour. But those Loons! ❤❤ Dinner looks delicious!!
Rich, 60 bucks a night is pretty pricey-then charge me to take a shower.? What gives? That’s good enough front
Thanks for watching! We agree but the lure of Lake Winnipesaukee was too great. Obviously, you're paying for the real estate. We did use the showers because we jumped in the lake and didn't want to set up our wet bath. I haven't had a shower that fast since knob year at The Citadel...
We love Ellacoya SP! Often visit in the fall. I always have to go to Harts Turkey Farm in Meredith.
Thanks for watching! OK - Harts Turkey Farm is on our list. I was trying to explain N.H. Turkey Farm restaurants to Cindy and she was confused. My grandfather had a special, reserved table every Sunday at the Green Ridge Turkey Farm in Nashua. I need to re-live those memories...
I keep telling you that you need to make a cookbook of your recipes.
Thanks for watching! You never know what projects are underway at the global Luv Subbin Headquarters. Let's just say that Cindy has been working on a super secret project for over a year now. Just don't tell anyone... 😀
I love loons. Their cry is so beautiful. Enjoyed the information about the ability to watch them on KZread! Hey! You could call the rub "Luv Rubbin" ........ but people might get the wrong idea. 🤣 Maybe try a cast iron pan on the stove? You could get it hotter than you can a non-stick pan. - Michelle
OK guys, Luv Rubbin is the best idea on the planet! We are still laughing. We actually do have a product coming out (not food related) that we will send to you for evaluation if you want. Stay tuned...
I was just looking into that place for a future trip. You read my mind!
Thanks for watching! We really love Ellacoya and the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. If you can get in, book it! We also have a hike video on our earlier KZread visit (the one with the Bowlus).
@@LuvSubbin Yep, I think we saw that one. Cindy identifies the mushrooms right?? 🍄🍄
The Loon is one of my favorite sounds in the woods. Have a safe and Happy 4th!
Thanks Cotton Tales! We could not agree more. On a beautiful Vermont lake with a full moon, nothing is better.
I just read your response to Cindy. Her question: are there loons in Alabama?
Or only War Eagles... 😀
@@LuvSubbin no Loons in Alabama. The first one I heard was in the 100 Mile Wilderness in Maine 2018 at age 60. Nothing like that call.
@@LuvSubbin I have Bald Eagles fly over our farm usually in January - March. They nest a few miles from us on Lay Lake. Every time I see one I think of y’all.
I would buy Luv Subbin rub. You are the best. ❤
Thanks! We may not be launching a rub line in the near future but I highly recommend pulling up Cindy's recipe from the video's description and trying it out.
Don’t sit on the cows.
That's actually a secret nod to my Citadel classmates. A tradition when we got our class rings was to ride a rotating Coburg milk cow statue in downtown Charleston. I don't think that happens anymore...
@@LuvSubbin Funny! 🤣
❤
First agen is that a thing 😂
Thanks for watching! We'll, I guess we second...
Thanks so much. I needed to learn this. Great lesson. Liked and subscribed and printed your checklists. 6/24❤
Thanks so much for watching and the super nice comment. We use our checklists every departure and arrival without fail. Safe travels!
Nice explanation! 🎉
Thanks Denise!
So I hadn't heard of this product before this video. I watched about 1 minute of your video and someone else's about it, so I'm shooting from the hip a little, but it's basically a step up transformer used to correct voltage drop from your hookup, right? Amazing to me that people are so bent out of shape about it. It'd be really easy to test this to show what's going on. Just set up two RV's, clamp meter the feeds to both... introduce the autoformer to one. See if the other changes. If no, myth debunked. Of course we know already, but maybe it just needs to be demonstrated.
Thanks for watching! You are 100% correct - it is just a transformer with some circuitry to turn on and off the boost. Hughes chose a very unfortunate name for it. An "Automatic Transformer" is an entirely different device that can indeed be dangerous and the N.F.P.A. advised against using this industrial product in campgrounds. Too many people confused the "Autoformer" with the "Automatic Transformer". We've used it for 15 years and am firm believers in it.
Our TV is a diesel so I seek out the high flow pumps at truck stops. Still need that entry/exit strategy as well as they are not laid out all the same!
Thanks for watching! Yes, we are gassers so our stations can be more challenging. That's why we love the Flying J RV lanes and hope that more stations adopt similar set-ups.
@@LuvSubbin Hope so, I’ve squeezed in a few times when I didn’t plan well much to the dismay of everyone else!
Great video. I agree ripping off non-residents like that is unconscionable.
Thanks for watching! South Carolina would never be so rude...
I just want to wish you both good luck, we're all counting on you.
Brady bunch go to Hawaii
Thanks for watching! You got it!
It is already hitting 100 degrees here in Texas. We are heading to the mountains in Colorado in a couple of weeks. Then onward to Canada after that. Stay safe and cool and I hope to see you guys on the road again sometime in the future.
Thanks for watching! We loved our time in Texas and was there last in June/July of 2019. It was hot! Colorado and Canada sounds like a good plan. Safe travels.
We brought a kiddie pool to cool off our feet!
Thanks for watching! A Kiddie Pool sounds like a good idea. I'll never forget camping at the Finger Lakes Wine Festival. One of the campers emptied out their pickup's bed, lined it with plastic, and filled it with water for a "Red Neck Pool"...
Cut a little cross into the reflectix for your window and insert a suction cup , one in each corner and it will stay!
Thanks for watching and the excellent suggestion! I'll try that.
Sorry, not for me! I’m also from southern Vermont and I refuse to support the state parks other than where I live. A disgrace. $84 with no full hook ups. It’s exactly what Massachusetts wants. I’d rather spend three weeks on Prince Edward Island. You do you. Great video though. Hope to see you at sporting events at MAU!
Thanks so much for watching! We totally agree with you. In a moment of weakness we wanted to relive our fun times at Salisbury. We'll be booking a Vermont State Park just after the 4th. BTW, if ever you want to talk Airstream, we're usually at Madison's on Friday afternoons when we're not 'Streamin...
😮
Thanks Tina! It's a hot one here on the northeast. We're back at the house now and thankfully things have cooled.
We are at Glacier National Park! Cool temps here. West Glacier.
In Texas when it's below 95 in the summer, we call that a cool front🥶🤣
Thanks for watching! That made us laugh. It's like here in January where if it creeps above freezing we're excited.
Rich, I took your advice and got a 30 amp Hughes auto-former two years ago, works great, thanks
Thanks Camp Fire Rob! It has worked great for us and Cindy's parents before that. I know of a number of electricians and electrical engineers that understand what it does and swear by it.
Thanks for the video guys as always. You might want to try letting your wood chips soak in a bowl of water next time and they won't catch on fire as fast and will give you a lot of good smoke for your fish, chicken, steak, etc. Keep the videos coming. Happy trails...
Thanks for watching! That's a great point and I've done that in the past. Maybe I need to revisit that.
I checked out your 30A Autoformer link. It returns multiple results. Are they all “autoformers” or is that just the manufacturer’s name? We’re interested in the one that you’re using and recommending. We still have our Smokey Joe we bought the year we married in 1985! Need to start using it again. Way lighter than the Blackstone 😀
Thanks for watching and bringing up the issue. I think we have made the necessary change if you wish to revisit the link and purchase. BTW, we bought our Smokey Joe in 2002 when we got the Airstream so it is going on 22 years of grilling awesomeness!
Is the sun shade new? Oh, we will have to check out the video. 😊Wait, what? you had a Narrowboat? When was this? There definitely were balloons being filled with water. LOL. WOW. That is huge differential between resident and non- resident price. Good thing you were there to let them know they were going to hit a tree. --Michelle
Thanks guys for the awesome comment. Interesting Luv Subbin fact: when we did narrowboats in England in 2013 we got a KZread account and posted the videos just for other family members to watch. A few years later, we looked and one of our videos had 30,000 views and we had 300 subscribers. That was a big push to make us think we could do RV KZreads. If you're bored one night, check out our narrowboat playlist. kzread.info/dash/bejne/k3mc0term8u4h9Y.html
I bet that fish was delicious! Great tips!
Thanks guys! It was spectacular!
For those wondering, due to our love of Salisbury I have written respectful letters to the Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation voicing my disappointment with the absurd out-of-state fees. My letters were met with the expected "no response". For context, I just went to book a site at a Vermont State Park. $20 for Vermonters; $28 for out-of-staters. That is fair, reasonable, and welcoming.
That is interesting. Here in NC, TN, VA, SC, and WV we don’t have that type of thing.
@@edyost6433 Maybe that's why we love the South so much! A few bucks here and there is no issue. But quadruple the price? Total bummer for what was one of our favorite places to camp.
We live in Missouri and there is no difference between residents and non-residents. There should not be any discrimination so people can afford to travel and see other states. Or all states need to implement those type of penalties for being from another state. Knowing how Mass is to keep away non-residents, we will definitely shape our travel plans so we will not leave unnecessary monies in that state. It really should be illegal to discriminate by almost quadrupling prices. On a different note, those dishes all looked amazing!!
Really love having our sunshade that we learned about from you both many years ago! Never travel without it.
Thanks so much for watching! We're glad one of our earlier videos led you to purchase one. It really helps.
That's so true about Massachusetts not wanting out of staters. Thats ridiculous!
Thanks for watching! It is so disappointing. One State Forest with no hookups tried to charge us $54.00/night for boondocking! I don't mind a reasonable charge for out-of-staters but Massachusetts is out of control. People from the Commonwealth are treated better at our state parks...
As usual, I come away with some useful tips and tricks. Regards,
Thanks so much for watching and the super nice comment. We always hope that people will not only be entertained but find some nugget of value in our videos.
@@LuvSubbinI can’t tell you how many times I rewatch your posts for some issue that I’m encountering with my trailer. I have a 2007 International 25’ pretty similar to your trailer and have been helped out in many instances, so thank you for what you do. I also love your reviews of campsites, which is super helpful. PS I’m always on the lookout for you on the road, haven’t seen you yet, but always on the lookout! Appreciate you both.
@@jamesnowicki5345 You totally made our evening with your awesome feedback. We're glad you find value in what we do. And you never know when you might bump into us. One of our favorites was at the I-95 Rest Stop in Florida when one of our subscribers came running up to show us their checklists that they had developed from our website! We certainly hope to see you down the road...
@@LuvSubbinI live about 1 mile off I-95, exit 109 in Maryland so I’m always traveling up and down between Christiana Mall in Delaware and Baltimore. I figure it’s just a matter of time till I spot you. I did see the peanut mobile once, so you never know. 😂. It’s about time to do my wheel bearings, so I reviewed your video and will be using it for reference. I like the way you put things when you say this is the way we do it, you may have other ideas. That is such a different approach from most which I really appreciate. Also, when Cindy restates points it is really helpful in getting the information across and understood by those with a little less mechanical aptitude. 😊 Keep up the great work.
Like the sunshade idea
Thanks for watching! It's from Zip Dee and really makes a difference. It's super easy to install.
Shades of 2003 in Burlington. Only with 4 amps electr
Thanks so much for watching! We remember that Rally and how unusual it was for Vermont. I'm not sure International will ever again sell a rally without at least 30 amps (and probably 50 amps with sewer). BTW, I (Rich) will be following in your footsteps as I will be the Region 1 1VP in August...
Yep, the name of the game is staying cool! Thanks for sharing! Safe Travels
Thanks for watching! Our Airstream served as a "lifeboat" much like the LEM did with Apollo 13. We had wonderful air conditioning as our house roasted.
I tell you what, those Fenway sausages looked amazing! I was shocked you did not have a beer with them! Hot and humid here in Alabama and we have cut back from a 12 hour work day to a 6 hour work day on the farm. Safe travels
Thanks Cotton Tales! You're probably chuckling as we Vermonter have to endure a few days in the 90's. BTW, the beer must have been out of frame. I was enjoying a wonderful Massachusetts lager from Berkshire Brewing...
Great video. What temp are you looking for when you check your bearings? What temperature will concern you that it’s too hot?
Thanks for watching! The probability of all four bearings failing at the same time is next to zero. What I'm looking for is something different. If all four hubs read 120F, I have no issue. If one hub reads 120F and the other three read 70F, then we have a problem...
