I like that this track doesn't require the listener to think of the 'you' as a lost love but it really is a message to yourself. Im on my last day of rehab for opioides and my counselor tasked me to do self mirror talk where the person i see in the mirror is the one who has done all the good things that made me the man i am today and the successes ive had which im proud of and the one speaking to myself is the troubled kid who dealt with trauma and took part in the destructive behavior. Cant think of a better song to match the premise of what she asked me to do. 'But when it's time, Ill fight for you. Cause you know you are, why I've come so far.'

Ive benn listening to The Midnight 2012-2013. Nocturnal is the greatest album. Its easier to talk about the songs that arent so good because they are few from The Midnight.

Play in in you car and let the bass go trough your body. The song gets even better. Drive by night. The start of this song is acctually 10 of 10. Highest raiting music!

My 1st song that I heard for this Genre a few years ago, was at my buddy's house and he had some music station playing on the tv.. and this song came on and it was the end of the night and I was wasted waiting for the wife and kids to get around so we can leave and I was such in a daze and bam this dropped and I was instantly in love lol I KZread it all the way home on repeat 😂

The first verse is truly incredible, from 1:00 to 1:25. That feels almost like a dictionary definition of The Midnight - They keep reinventing the 1-2-3m progression over and over again. I cannot understand how they find new ways to be interesting over this chord progression! Ok, granted it is perhaps the most beautiful string of triads, but still! Also, my god can they hit ones heartstrings with (albeit somewhat cliché but..) razor sharp lyrics that evoke nostalgia and memories of young love. Add the atmosphere, and I wouldn't change a thing about those 25 seconds. Chorus, intro and the rest - Not great. But I only need those first verse 25 secs. And I will enjoy them over and over again.

A while back I asked a girl out for a drink at a local pub. We talked all afternoon. I was 17 at the time. Then she introduced me to a bridge kinda close to the pub where we were. We talked a little but it was a nice walk through the city at night while we chit-chat about various things. Started raining a bit. It was kinda nice. Fell in love with that gal on the spot. Pussied out and didn't make a move. Fucked up in the meantime. Went out with another chick. She saw me with her. Didnt even say hello to her cause I was embarrassed with myself when I saw her. 15 years later. Got a wife and two kids. Still thinking about that girl from time to time. Idk why this one reminds me of that walk though...

I wonder if they are going to mention how similar the opening drum riff is to "She's a Maniac" by Michael Sambelo.
