I wrote a whole term paper about this (for harnessing energy) while in high school in Georgia in the 1970s. No one was impressed with my paper. Teacher probably didn't even read it. I still think it's so cool!

On average how long does it take the tide to come in, what are the chances of someone getting caught by 5he incoming tide?

I like the time laps. My cat loves sitting next to the windows to. The only criticism I have is that cats love to look out of windows. Please keep your curtains open part of the day especially when the sun shines on the cat window perch. Cats just love the sun rays on them.😸❣

I've always wanted to see where the planet's highest tide is so thank you. I grew up on the shores of the Bristol channel in south western England where we have the world's second highest tidal range: 15 metres. It was always a challenge to get water from the sea for the moat of your sandcastle at low tide because it was about a mile away it seemed .That and the quicksand!

Although it isn't as high a range, due to the flatter terrain, when the tide goes out at Cark Airfield, the sea is 5-6 miles away and you literally can't see it.

As the Earth rotates relative to the moon, the water closest to the moon is pulled by the gravitational force of the moon on the Earth causing high tide. The same is true on the direct opposite side of the Earth at the same time because of spherical equilibrium forces. When the Earth rotates 90 degrees relative to the moon, the side closest to the moon attracts that water while the short side water is pulled to that force causing low tide. Bad explanation put pretty cool :)

So inviting, look at the work the water has done to undermine that cliff face, and then I imaging all the little creatures in the tide pools. Reminds me of my childhood on the shores of the Great Lakes.

I became interested in tidal changes and started snooping around KZread for time lapse examples. If you pay close attention the tide itself surges in stages. Regardless of the constant tidal forces. In a changing tide there will be a point of resistance as water seeks it's balance, similar to a Balance Bean scale as it equalizes. Although the tide is ever changing and never truly equalizes it is my best analogy and it is incredible to see it when you look for it.
