My grandma's dog named Battle died last Wednesday. He's been with me and my brother since we were young. He was put down because his liver disease was causing him pain. You never forget how their claws sound on a hardwood floor when they rush to greet you coming through the front door.

Hi Clifton, love your playing btw hill people/ hill billies/ hill dwellers, can be evidenced from the place names of Old England. Our ancestors built hill forts to defend themselves and they cut the forests and cultivated the land beneath the forts, and they were buried in burys/ burrows/ barrows. My surname means anyone who lives in or below a hill, is at least 2K years old, most of the hill forts around here are suffixed -den, and many of the towns and villages are suffixed -bury.

Stabb is a pretty common German last name. While some Jews use the last name it's not specifically Jewish. Staab's history isn't well documented but what I did find just identifies him as German with no mention of being Jewish. His wife Diana Uvedale Ashton seems to be the daughter of a Reverend which leads me to believe there is no Jewish connection there. I did find mention that Staab played piano at a meet up in his home town of Chicago for Lincoln during his presidential campaign which is interesting and definitely lends credence to the assertion that this is a protest song of sorts.
