A dedicated gamer's KZread channel celebrating gaming. The good, the bad, and the two polygon. Logical Leveling talks about everything gaming: news, upcoming games, and reviews. As well as some of the more obscure topics, like the impact of a certain game and why a game failed. If you're a lifelong fan of video games and everything about them, this is a home for you.
So join the community! Subscribe, comment, and get involved. The goal of Logical Leveling isn't just for me to talk about games (though that is fun) but to find like-minded people and have a discussion. So let me know if you disagree or why you do agree on a video. I'd love for Logical Leveling to become a home base for people who like to get into the nitty-gritty of the gaming industry. If that sounds like something you want or would enjoy, then it's up to you to make it happen!

Fifa17 is a good game and it was the first using frostbite engine with the fifa franchise. It is 1000x better than next iterations... so frostbite may not be the main culprit with EA games being so bad now
+1, totally agree (im esports player and coach for about 12 years), im glad i played with and coached players and teammates and today they are in a pro ladder makes me proud of them and myself. <3
While developers do care about the game, their bosses often don't and actually just want consumers' money
Developers and bosses are both part of the corruption that the industry is running on
Not releasing HoN as F2P was biggest mistake ever made.
This is beyond true. For as much as people praise indie, mostly for good reason don't get me wrong, but most stories involve small studios almost getting bankrupted if they didn't get a hit, Pal World is a good example since the devs of that game needed to switch engines mid development so the fact that game came out as well as it did IN BETA!!! Is insane, not only that but they still may be under fire from Pokémon over brand confusion. And although no man's sky is a different scenario, when that game released to the public eye hello game's reputation was in the gutter and had warped the studio's intentions when they honestly wanted to make a fun game and their efforts paid off since some people are saying that the game is better the starfield in terms of space exploration, environment etc... Of course, this does not fully pardon the business side of AAA and AA games like you said with fallout 76 and cyberpunk sadly, but I don't think people really understand what they are dealing with either.
greed killed HoN
I am literally watching this because I was wondering how hard it would be to fix bugs in The Last of Us on my own. It's my favorite game of all time, but there are many imperfections here and there.
Thanks for all the good advice, i‘ve been thinking about going pro in val for some time and i‘ve decided that i wanna try it. I am currently top 2% global and i am will start my socials as soon as my finals are finished. When i finally make it to the big stage, i will greet you in an interview.
amazing scripting, thanks brother
Make a new version of HoN please!!!!!!
Dota2 killed Hon 😔
How does this prove that new IPs are too risky? They created a new game based on one of their existing IPs. If anything, this proves that slapping on a familiar product to sell one of lower quality does nothing but dwindle the trust your consumers have.
I've played a number of early access games (e.g. Planet Nomads) And when I give feedback/suggestions for features I try to make my ideas as clear as possible and often include illustrations and references to other games for methods used.
madden player here smh game is awful
HoN just fumbled the launch. It went to being a huge Free 2 Play beta, into like a $40 Buy 2 Play title. A lot of people couldn't afford it, and League of Legends dropped, entirely free 2 play and advertised itself, literally on its website, as "Like Heroes of Newerth but free"
HON was 20 dollars on release. I was there.
Theme hospital.... Now that's a game I almost forgot about. 🤣 Was a great game.
Sleep. E..at p..lay ...
The fact that LoL became the dominant game over HoN is a crime against everything I hold dear 😢
I played HoN 14-15 years ago while it was free to play, I think it was in a beta. I was a young kid that just wanted to play something else other than Dota and HoN was a next logical step. I was super sad when they announced that the game needs to be bought now, because I didn't really have money to buy it. Buying anything over internet was a much different experience 14-15 years ago than it is now. A friend of mine recommended me LoL back then. It was a much worser game than HoN at a time, but everyone of us jumped ship to it because it was free to play. 14 years later and I still come back to and play some LoL with a buddy of mine. Really makes you wonder where HoN could've been had they just released a game as a free to play. I can't stress it enough on how much of a better game it was than all of its competitors at time. Also the savage vibe it had was amazing.
The Movies and Black & White are the greatest games ever made! How could they not be successful?!?
I found out that you can play it again its awesome
Project Kongor baby :-)
When Microsoft puts its hands on something, it'll vanish .... where's Rareware For God's sake !? Now Lionhead .... who else !?
No, the Frostbite Engine is not to blame. It was made first and foremost to support FPS games and it excels at that. It's not the engine's fault that EA forces it down the throat of all of its studios regardless of genre.
It's not good for sports games
Word of warcraft mod... For real dude?
Frostbite is 100% dogshit
Not look at how good bf3, bf4, bf1 look even bf hardline uses frosbite and they look really good in quality detail.
@@Interestingworld4567@Interestingworld4567 it's outdated and from a by gone era the games that you mentioned are great but it's time for EA to make another engine for Fps,action, sport games
For sports games, yes
Why is it a masterpiece? I don't get it. I played it for like 2 hrs , roam around killed a few things , felt pretty boring , didn't feel appealing, dropped and never picked up again. I don't understand why its treated as like the best game ever by some. It has no story if am not wrong. The combat is souls like obviously which not all people like. What exactly is there that makes it good and worthy of all the praises it gets.
Black and white was the best game.. we wait for 3
Good riddance, Hon was never a real platform on the moba scene.
EA's downfall can be chalked up mostly to the fact that they stopped listening to their consumers, got greedy, and tried to shove their greed down their customer's throats... Another huge issue I always hear from every single person I've talked to about EA is that their customer service is basically non existent. Yeah they have some people who you can chat to for support, but almost every time you reach out to customer support for anything that has gone wrong, the problem isn't solved and the customer is left feeling more frustrated by customer service asking them to restart their computer for the 100th time. Lastly, and it seems like most of the big game devs are starting to behave like this now, is how they hype up a game with trailer videos and a bunch of paid influencers, for months or years before release, then they release a game full of bugs or that doesn't live up to the hype, and then they don't bother putting in the time and money to fix it, while putting all of their focus on hyping up the next game. This is what happened when china took over the smart phone games market, they pump the hype, get people to click on the game, make a few purchases, then they dump the game and focus entirely on hyping up the next garbage game.
Bro you hit it right in the head. CFB 25 right now already had it's first patch update due to bugs you can't do this you can't do that because there are issues in the game. We should've known it was going to be the same buggy mess that persisted in Madden for years still a buggy mess.
I love HoN. I hate lol. I play dota2, But it just makes me depressed its not HoN.
bro the servers are back. project kongor
Thanks for taking the time. I'm a nobody of a scrubby indie dev. And there is a lot of misinformation floating around online about game dev. As understandably frustrating as bugs can be. This is literally the first & only video i've found actually discusing what bugs are and why they happen. We don't have to excuse the bad behavior and shady practices of game studies. But we also can't keep saying the technical realities of game development don't matter. Because that approach only leaves us angry and without answers. That and most of the discussions we're having are pretty technical in nature. if we want better games? Part of that means we have to inform ourselves. So we can make better and more accurate criticisms of the games we play. Again, thanks for putting this together. Take care & have a good one
Cuz it was too hard and too fast, unlike LoL which is more noob friendly and can be played by everyone
Milo, oh Milo, what a fiasco and scandal it was. A true Kinect system seller. False project that dropped down so hard that it killed even Kinect and the developer.
Valve company of idiots they can do this game the better game but they do not vaste in time for this game it was foolish decision when i see this game first time i can't wait when i play Artifact and now i so sad for cancelled this game
Best Monkey King character on any MOBA game. Sad to see you go.
u can still play it brother
Can somebody please tell me, how is the combat better and more forgiving than the rest of souls games, how is it more accessible?? Someone has to show me a video or explain how and what changed, because for me it's the same like other dark souls.
3:01 br no chat haha
thank you for the insight, every time i learn more about how much devs are abused i feel even more scared of working in the gaming industry ;; but im also a stubborn advocate and love games too much, so i hope i can stand up for myself and coworkers💕 -ngl finding out gaben is a narc dashed my dream of working at valve and making vr less photo dangerous, so idk what ill do with myself but it sure as hell wont be meta lmao-
Few other developers have done open worlds right: Zelda & Elders scrolls. Still, Elden is indeed a masterpiece but it also borrowed from Breath of the wild. It build off that game and paved their own way.
Elder Scrolls*
Because I went to TI, I got artifact for free. To me the monetization was heavy but justifiable. To think people had to pay for this game and then pay for the cards like I did, well it is no wonder it failed.
Hon alive. Check project kongor. Hon > dota2> lol
Imagine if valve created HoN instead of s2. Also icefrog is the biggest factor. He is the only one that can do it
Add ufc5 to that list now SMH
You sir just convinced to play play even more HoN !!!!
Lets just say that it wasnt the fact it was a new ip . It wasnt even a totally new ip... They just looked at the end goal and thought YES and lost themselves on the way
That 30 dollars change everything
It's crazy to me that The Movies was a flop. That game is really fun and sucks you in.
Do you think it is possible to pursue Esports while in college?
I think nothing is impossible, but "you can't have a cake and eat it"
Yes just sleep 6 hours a night and spend all your free time playing i work full time and still get 4000 hours a year playing
