Good job!
Do you think it would be possible to use this for making the skin on a folding kayak?
Specialist...
Terrific! My lugs always wear out beneath the big toe first.I will try this once i'm there
Was kind of hoping it was how to fold up tough polythene for emergency purposes. For something as good as was made in the video buy online, and it comes in a few days? Then have heat welded seams, but best done in a factory because of fume control?
What isn't cheaper than a starbucks coffee...
Love the texture!
Thank you.
What power input does your cctv camera take? I'm looking into making my own using a Panasonic SD5 WV-CP504, but the power input is this 3 prong one I've never seen before.
Hi. Thanks for the comment. I’m not sure about power consumption but the voltage is 12v DC which is standard for CCTV. The pin configuration might be for DC pin1 / 12v pin 2 0v and AC pin 1 / pin 3 24v.
Absolutely brilliant neil
Thanks Mark. Posted a video at last😂
Super drybag
How many Starbucks ups of coffee did not cost for the scissors? Gaffer Tape? Ruler? The international method of determining cost. Nice!
Love it❤️And I can answer your questions. Tape = 1 SC (Starbucks Coffee) ruler = 2SC and scissors were second hand and cost a surprising 0.75 = SC at a junk sale.
@@neilsimmondsmediaproject hahaha. That’s awesome! Thanks for indulging me
Your mom told you to carry scissors in the "ice pick" knife stab mode? damn man I wont mess with your mom!🤣
That made me laugh. Well done. If you could see my mother 😂 bless her! As a ninja assassin though? You’re more likely to get Donald Trump to join a monastery in Tibet.
@@neilsimmondsmediaproject 🤣cheers
tyvek is a good start..... but i wouldnt trust tape..... need to find a good way to plastic weld the seams shut.
Something to keep in mind is that some tyvec is chemically treated to be mold and mildew resistant and you might not want that in contact with the things you're storing in the bag.
No actual demonstration that it's waterproof.
This same method using a very permeable fabric would be a guide on how to make grow bags.
Have you seen the NightHawkInLight waterproof tarp videos? Do you think that kind of treated cloth be viable for this purpose?
Hi. Thanks for the comment. I haven’t seen the videos. I’ll take a look later. You could use any fabric. But it comes down to waterproofing. I’ve made a few that are not at all waterproof, on a sewing machine, just because they are great for storage. So simple to make. 👍
You have to be insane to trust piece of tape to hold warerproof.
Hi. Thanks for the comment. You’re probably right. I did give a warning about not using them in critical situations. Cheap and cheerful. You can of course up scale the principle from tape to ultrasonic welding of vinyl sheeting. Costs a bit more though. 😂
You looked like a firefly in those yellow clothes dad but you’re still the best dad in the world (even when you look like a firefly) 😂
This is by far the best video you’ve made so far (and I also love how 8yr old me was in the end!) 🎉❤
That looked awesome dad ❤😊😂
I hope you enjoyed that tea dad, it looked really nice (apart from the fly in it 😂)
I did!
Very creative invention dad well done 👍🏻❤
Hi dad, you’re doing so well at KZread ❤ Keep it up 👍🏻
Hey, thanks
What is gaffer tape? Im in the us and all i can think is that it might be like duct tape.
Hi. Thanks for asking. It is duct tape. We even have a company in the UK called Duck that make gaffer tape! The best stuff to use is the specialist tape made for joining this type of membrane. But it’s not cheap.
due to lack of trae skills dind't know shiny surfaces are hard to glue
Thanks for the comment. The glue has more to grip if the surface is rough. 👍
Although I haven’t used my Trangia for years, I recall that using the frying pan as a lid on the pots reduced boil time significantly
Hi. Thanks for the comment. You are of course right. But I left the lid off for effect, to see the water boiling. 👍
You my friend are a complete GEE KNEE OUS I think I'll try this on a pair of Topo Athletic that I just wore down. Thanx for the video my Running 🏃 Brother 👍 ⚔️ ✝️ 🇺🇲
Thanks for the comment. And many thanks. God bless you kind sir.
Great video! Yes, more repair videos would be great!
Brits do it best. 😊
Thanks for the comment. Kind of you.
I gotta say, I thought you were crazy when you held up the new rubber heel, but it looks like you did an absolutely wonderful job. Congrats
Thank you! 😊
TOP VIDEO, PERFECTLY EXPLAINED.
Thanks. I ought to make a few more. I’ve been making films about alien evidence. Not that I believe in aliens, plenty of people do!
This is exactly what I've been looking for. Many thanks! Will try it, i wear the outside of my shoes very quickly.
Thanks for the comment. And happy scuffing!
Brilliant! Thanks!
Cheers. Thanks for the kind comments.
Hi handsome. Great channel and cobbler diy. I would like to know what do you drink & snack on durring your shoe repairs? Do you prefer English tea over Gatorade lime flavor?
What a great question. And the answer is…… Tea. Earl Grey. I have never in my life even thought of drinking Gatorade. How about you? Which would you drink?
I would like to resole the whole of the shoe. The heal in your video looks excellent. Any ideas on how to find what lm looking for? Even just starting with a brand would be helpful.
lol. middle of the ocean. haha yeah they got a whole island of plastic there.
Hello Neil SImmonds, I would really like to have the same product ingredients. In my country currently none or very few have this material (tyvek). Can we exchange information about these materials or also discuss other outdoor products?
Thanks, poor people like me could use this.
Thank you, this was exactly what I needed to learn!
Nice thanks! I have a pair of salomons and they're like new excep the tread is worn. The way the show is constructed it looks like one could replace the tread. To your knowledge do they sell the tread to be reglued on or do I have to use some generic tread?
Sorry about the very delayed response. I just used a cheap generic heal repair patch. They’re still on now. Two years later. And have lasted longer than the original!
the new rubber looks factory on them and matches.good show
Thanks for taking the time to comment. 👍
thank you for this video. i was considering getting a US surplus dry bag for like $35, but this seems like a fun project that i should try out my self. even If it doesn't work out, great i got to practice some DIY stuff and learn more about waterproofing.
That’s the spirit! And thanks for the comment. 👍
Any ideas for court shoes/ tennis shoes that wear out on the ball of the foot?
You could try having a go. Not much to loose if the shoes are going in the bin anyway. Keep the repair patch thinner than a heel. Let us know how you get on.
can duct tape hold any weight at all?
Some. But the idea of the video was to show how simple and cheap they can be. It’s easy to make a very technical and complex version with a high spec if you have a big budget and all the equipment.
Where's Colin, and why aren't you wearing a safety tie?
Tyvek can be ultrasonic friction welded as well as impulse sealed or stitched or all of the above...
Thanks for taking the time to comment. I’m going to try stitching next. Wouldn’t have a clue how to ultrasonic weld.
Earned my sub. Great content.
Thanks. Making some more content next week.
Very cool
Thanks for taking the time to comment. 😊👍
This is why I'll never use starbucks. They're too damned expensive.
🤣 You're right!
