Watching the interactions, chemistry and body language between these two, they ARE very much married in a way - that's the vibe that shows. I know Catriona is married; I pity her husband. From what shows here, I don't see that she is or maybe can be entirely his, and I would think he probably feels it. As for Sam, I pity him, because he and Catriona have been "married" AND very intimate in their roles for so long that I don't think he's ever going to find someone who can measure up to Catriona in his subconscious or build a relationship with him that will measure up to the fantasy, choreographed, but amazing "marriage" partnership he and Catriona share on Outlander. Even while I enjoy the show, what I see between them that they might consciously not be aware of themselves, makes me sad for them in their real lives...
The Duke is man than every woman would like to have in her life. I love the way he looks at Daphne.

honestly...I think they were a couple in a secret 'love' affair at the beginning (maybe in the first few months) but they soon ended it...WHY...well first of all I think they didn't want to jeopardize their work..series and working together (so they finished it before it got too deep and complicated..my opinion is that she did it primarily and maybe even series production put some pressure in order to prevent any future chaos in the cast)...second- they are different characters and with different lifestyles as Cait once said herself (he's adventures..into sports..loves nature and I think he's a better person and more emotional and much more sincere...and for her- she's city lady who loves fancy restaurants..red carpets..fashion shows and in my opinion much more calculated despite her 'nice face' and great smile)...and in the end- yes..I think they had different priorities considering marriage and children (she wanted that and he at the time probably didn't but was willing to be in a relationship) so that sealed the deal against their relationship....I think you can even notice the shift in their love scenes and especially kisses in the series (from the second season onward..that's right from the time she started dating Tony which is probably other half of 2014)..you can feel he's making a hardly noticeable distance during kisses as the time progresses but if you are paying attention you'll notice it...all those stories that they're together still are madness...as I said- they probably were at the very beginning but not for long...she simply turned her back and found Tony with whom she doesn't share any emotional affection in the public which I find very strange for people who are in love even if they don't want to do it in public...that's ok BUT ALL THE TIME..at least once to see that fire...but I think that describes her real character and emotional state and being...everything else is just acting😉

Boy, ten years down the road things are so different. They give off a totally different vibe. But I think they still are good friends in spite of all the changes. It will be interesting to see how they are together in the last interviews before the show ends, looking back instead of looking forward as we see here. It's really poignant. They've been through so much alongside each other. To not be able to look forward to being together during work may be really hard. Probably more for Sam, since Cait has a family of her own to bring her comfort. I dread the end of the show. It's been really special to me.
