    Your proposal is awful. After the 2nd group game, many teams would be effectively eliminated, leaving 3 more meaningless, boring games. Having 3rd place teams qualify makes it way better since the last group stage game will always matter since any team could still advance.

    I would like to show my proposal for the 48-team cup: Similar to what FIFA proposed, it starts at 12 groups of 4, but only the best 2 of each group qualify. The 24 remaining teams will be divided into 3 groups of 8, each playing their own, separate knockout stage. The finals will be played by the 3 teams who win the knockout stages of their respective group, where each team will play once against the 2 others, making three final games. In the end, the team with the highest Goal Net (goals scored minus goals received) Wins the cup! This system requires 96 games, 8 games less than the proposed 104 of FIFA's plan. Whaddaya think?

    I like the fact that its always been a natural cycle in Football for Greats to retire or lose their prime form and the public being disappointed at the lower quality of the new era. It's always going to be hard for people to accept that they will never see a footballer like Ronaldo, Messi, Cruyff or Beckenbauer ever again

    New subscriber here! Could you make a video about the actual deserving footballers who should’ve won Ballon D’or if the European rule never existed? Surely Pele and Maradona would have a couple

  • @wrldelos
    @wrldelos2 күн бұрын

    It was told a few years ago that Pelé would’ve won 7 Balon D’ors if he was eligible, for Maradona (personal opinion) I’m pretty sure he only would’ve won 2, ofc u might disagree

    I very much like the uniformity of 16 groups of 3, with the top two emerging. This keeps the number of max games the same and if done correctly the doubling of numbers of groups can be used to remove “groups of death.” So the extra game for top teams should be very comfortable match up for them. To me, the biggest issue I see with major tournaments is how lopsided the brackets are which often result in underwhelming semi finals and finals. I also believe the issue raised about this format inviting teams to collude on the final can easily be remedied in a number of different ways, perhaps even ranking teams simply based on their goal differential.

    He’s right ruud scored goals from half way 1 or 2 times in his career ronaldo could do that majority of his career beat 3 or 4 players and score

    The day Manchester City completed the treble was the day football (soccer) died for me; PSG completing the quadruple would have further dug its grave (can't thank Dortmund enough for preventing that). This whole European Super League idea, if it's not completely dead in the water, will spit, piss and shit on it

    Great video ! One little thing about the 84 final you didn't mention. The Snapish goalkeeper Arconada who made a mistake on the Platini's free kick is very famous in France as we still name those kind of mistake where the keeper let the ball slip beetween his hands or under his belly an "Arconada" in French. Really great video i loved it !

    Great video but a tad disappointed you didn't mention how Spain qualified in the first place for the 84 finals. On the last game of the group qualifiers Spain was ranked second behind the Netherlands with only one game against Malta remaining. A win alone though wouldn't suffice as Netherlands had the better goal difference. They battered Malta 5-0 and 6-0 having scored 22 while only conceding 6 resulting in a goal difference of 16, thus everyone assuming the Netherlands would surely qualify. Spain needed a victory by no less than 11 goals to qualify, so even though Malta had lost at one point 8-0 against Ireland this was still thought to be unlikely. Yet in the most legendary game in Spanish football history Spain won the last game of the qualifiers 12-1, ending up with the same goal difference as the Netherlands but more goals thus qualifying. This game is remembered in Spain to this day while the actual 84 euros and the run to the finals is mostly forgotten.

    I agree, Before 2008 Spain was considered like England are now. They won one trophy and had been dosappointing at Tournaments Players such as Santillana, Quini and (less so) Butragueno are forgotten due to this.
