A nice informative video but you really need to work on your production (producing) and your lighting since "still" dramatic lighting is really not effective for an instructional video as your focus, framing, and depth of field do not aid the illustration of your instruction. For instance, some close-up (CU) cutaways of the pins fitting the holes would illustrate the point rather than dark moody wide shots. I mean the concept is good but the execution is really not as illustrative if you had put a bit more thought into what the pictures should be showing. Although you did state that this was "assembly" and not setting up the tilt kit you neglected to mention the concept of balancing a camera for the CG with the "camera rig" being used to minimize the strain on the units. Perhaps learning how to storyboard a product video would help you to "see" and enhance what you are saying in the future. Good luck.

Thanks so much for tuning in and for the in-depth and lengthy explanation on how I could help improve my video. Appreciate the pointers and will definitely take the points into consideration. I guess with all my videos the original intent was just for me to shoot in a manner that was fun and not overly critical for my own enjoyment based on the concepts that I like, hehe. Didn’t think and expected anyone would really see it beyond that, but thanks so much for pointing these out to me, appreciate it 😊

@@QippysChannel I am glad you took it that way and not as a "put down" which it was not meant to be. I have several videos myself that I have just hated what I have done so much that I can't get them out. I have one on making a miniature smoke cooler for the new crop of handheld smoke machines to make fog not smoke. Fog is so much more interesting and useful for almost everything while smoke ultimately becomes a diffusion filter. So I have been using L brackets and have been looking for the tilt kit for some time and your video told me what I needed but it could have been much more which is why I commented. Basically, you did a master shot and you needed to leave your lighting and base set where it was and reset your props to match your opening. Then watch your video back linearly and just take notes as if you were a second (or third or fourth) cameraperson. What would you have been shooting with multiple cameras? Is there a better angle for instance to visually emphasize your point? Take this shot list and shoot the cutaways in order and with as many takes as it... well takes. This is one of the reasons the best KZread videos are about 3-7 minutes since it will take 5 hours to stage, block, light, and shoot your master and cutaways shots. The rest is just your edit. Then do your edit with the MOS cutaways and follow the same playback and notetaking process, this time for a layer of graphical information such as LTs and perhaps still graphic cutaways where they might be applicable. If this were a documentary you would do a pass for music Foley and Nat sounds as they might be applicable but for this sort of project just some audio sweetening is helpful as an acoustic "stage." I just watched a great tour of a German submarine where the creator used various underwater sub-related sounds under his narration. Music has its place but only if for starters the mix levels are right. I mean in this you could have sweetened the audio with the sounds the devices make when you put the batteries on them but you didn't bother... boo. So this is an easy guide to approaching your next project. Good luck

It is NOT focusing by wire. The LM means Linear Motor, which is the means of focusing.

  • @QippysChannel

Thanks , but the term focus by wire specifically means that there are no physical connections that connect the lens focusing mechanisms to the actual lens, like traditional older af and manual focusing lenses, in terms of motors of course it is a linear motor 😊

@@QippysChannel that's not necessarily the reason why it's not compatible... Full frame lenses are compatible with crop sensor cameras the issue is that the lens mount is not designed to attach to the M50. The M50 uses the EF-M mount and this lens is the RF mount.

I like to just leave the cage on and pick up the camera and just shoot. Regarding the record button on the KB, that's a nice to have, but it's not like you just can't puch the record button on the camera, I'd much rather have the Arca Swiss and the contact points for my Peak Design straps.
