I randomly found your channel and thought your overview and perspective was great. I'm glad the Jays decided to move these guys and recognize they were not the path forward. I'm probably in the vast minority, but I still have confidence in Shapiro/Atkins based on their track record and I would give them another shot of it were up to me. I thought their methods were solid in Cleveland, it takes time to change an organization.

Atkins still needs to go, his defense first and lack of getting top players in free agency, is the reason they are in this mess. Not to mention, he's the reason the farm system has been decimated. He's done a poor job, in my opinion.

Lack of getting top players? Gausman, Springer, Bassit, Ryu, Semien etc, were all big free agent signings at the time they were acquired. I agree he needs to go but its not from lack of spending.

Atkinson needs to go because he failed to recognize two important points. First the team has a hitting problem it’s been apparent for at least a year and a half. He failed to add bats as a priority last trade deadline . Didn’t add anyone significant in the off season claiming the core players would hit? He didn’t fire his entire hitting coaches who have been abysmal. Second in the off season Shapiro says in an interview that in all the years in baseball he has never seen the health of a pitching staff that was apparent last season. Did he bolster the pitching staff in case of injuries ? No he didn’t so the rash of injuries should have been anticipated. Last but not least this trade deadline plus the draft restocks the farm system which he has decimated . They ranked near last in the entire league! For all these reasons he needs to be relieved of his duties!

It's a two way street. It's up to the free agents also if they want to come here or not. You don't think the Jays didn't talk to free agents over the off season? They typically don't announce publicly who they've spoken to. They spoke to Otani and look how that panned out. Players will go to the highest bidder.

Astros have the 2nd best record in baseball since June 1. Their window is just about closed. They are not thinking about next year, they know that the team will be in the wilderness for 3 or more years as they rebuild but they have a shot to go deep and their management is bold. The trade makes sense for both sides. .

I was skeptical of Atkins from the start given the poor record of the Cleveland Indians while he was a part of that executive. They then forced Anthopolous to leave which in my opinion may be the best Jays’ General Managers in their history. If the Jays want to return to the winning seasons Atkins has to go.
