    The human brain is constantly trying to find shapes, patterns and recognizable objects in everything we see. It's the brains built-in survival mechanism. That's why when you look up at a cloud on a cloudy day you can see dogs, cats, cars, etc., etc., in them.

    It cannot be overstated that the heart of Dark Souls' level design is a (3D) metroidvania. From Symphony of the Night to Super Metroid to Dark Souls to Hollow Knight. The interconnected spaghetti maps adds so much depth to these worlds.

    To potentially save someone else from pulling their hair out on ApplyFriction section, make sure at the end of code you change value of Rigidbody's y velocity check to 0.01f. Don't know why it works like this, it just does.

    I keep coming back to your videos because of how clearly you can explain a concept. People can learn a lot from you. Not just about game design but how to get a point across.

    I am so happy to start this pixel art journey with your videos! I'm only 20 minutes in and I feel like you've skyrocketed my skill level in minutes. I'm coming from an art/sculpture/technical drawing background and your process makes sooo much sense to me.

    320x180, huh. Yeah, I flubbed and did the divide by half thing and never thought about how 720p might look. Very insightful video.

    Hello! Got question about the art sprites in games. There are the tiles where character stands on. But can this tileset thing be used on bigger sprites to assemble more of an art parts or these are better to do as 1 big sprite pieces? Such as background trees, bushes to make repeating chunks?

    Hey, just started watching your videos, best tutorials going on here. Do you have any videos showing how to import a multi-layer side scrolling background from Asesprite into RPG Maker MV so I can watch it scroll? Having trouble finding that info. Subscribed.

    Hey noob here, i just created my first idle animation, but i use game maker as engine not unity. when i import the sprite it adjusts to the framerate of the game (60), means its like 3 times faster than the original since the animation originally has 20 frames. how can i fix that?

  • @overdrive112
    @overdrive1125 күн бұрын

    i turned down the speed instead of the framerate and it works visually, but i think something will mess up sooner or later bc of that

    you can draw lines with code can't you? for the border you dont need to have a tileset if it's a basic color this can be done completely with code cant it?

    As you created the stairs-block, you shifted the upper edge in one pixel by accident. This makes this line appear thicker when you place this tile in your tilemap test scene, touching a full block there.

    Hey hey! Can this sprite tile making logic work also when my videogame has 32x32 tiles, but I assemble the tiles from 16x16? Like i make a tileset with smaller pieces and can mix and match and build it like lego? Would such also work in a videogame programs or tiles have to be 32x32? Or can sprite sizes vary between sizes in a single game? I like the aesthetic in games with the black in the middle version and the tops and sides are lit

    I really enjoyed this tutorial just by the way it's carefully explained, although I did have some problems with it, namely the black box where the image should've been transparent. If you know possible causes and/or solutions it would be much appreciated.

    Not sure if i may have missed something, but using your state machine and going from air state to idle state after being grounded doesn't play my idle animation rather just the first frame of idle. Running to idle is working correctly, but I cannot find any reason why it wouldn't do the same for air and idle Edit: So it seems my only solution is to fix the animator.speed in idle state on enter to 1, as the speed is being set to 0 by air state. For some reason when I would enter walk state after being in a 0 anim speed idle, it would set it back to 1, so I'm not quite sure what was causing an issue as it should work both ways as it does in your video, but I'll still throw the solution out there for those that may run into the same issue as me
