I've always wanted a 90's Softail with the Evolution engine. I haven't gotten the Softail but I've been fortunate to have ridden one and I loved how smoothly it rode. It was like flying down the highway on a cloud to me compared to my Japanese "cruiser" which is more of a do it all machine, high performance, solid braking, viable cruiser, suitable for 2 up riding and fairly comfortable. That's the '82 Yamaha XJ1100J Maxim. Well, I finally had the $ and the opportunity to buy a Harley-Davidson and my first ever V-Twin at the same time and the seller was less than a mile away from home and the bike is a super clean well cared for '94 Dyna Wide Glide. It has much of the look I was going for in wanting a softail and someday I will still work towards getting an Evo Softail. The Evolution big twin and the Sportsters are the only HD engines I ever want to bother with and with some tooling on it it will be all the performance I want or need from a cruiser. For now I expect it is a stock machine orher than the Arlen Ness air cleaner. If I want a speedier V-Twin for now I just picked up another bike I've wanted for decades for the look and it came from the factory with a good 30+ horsepower more than the Evo 80 from a Honda Shadow VT1100C. I'm diving headlong back into motorcycles amd riding and actually getting my adult sons into fixing bikes and learning to ride on the old '73 Yamaha Enduros I've had kicking around for decades. Now once they're up to stepping up to a bigger street bike I have 4 of them that are completely capable of long distance rides and we're decided on making the 700+ mile ride to Sturgis soon. Probably next year so we can ride with the CVMA chapter I'm looking to patch into as a full member.

Any engine , not tuned correctly , will foul plugs. So the guys that told you that, Are admitting. They don't know what they're doing. Changing the sprockets for deering for cruising 70, Is very simple. I think this will have to be my last video, for some reason.I take it very personally when someone trashes a shovel head. It's weird, but it is what it is.

As much as I love HDs, I am more and more convinced that a good use ADV bike is the way to go for traveling. Don’t care to go off road but the main roads are getting really dicey across the country and the weather is always a potential challenge.

I live and ride motorcycles in Florida. We get some monsoons during the rainy season. Some storms dump 24" of rain in 24 hours. I have ridden in storms that the carbs on my BMW 600/6 were underwater. I rode in water up to the carb on my Sportster before turning around and heading back home.

Hadn't heard from you for awhile, glad to see another video. I'm looking for an older Harley for myself. I sold a big metric dresser last year because of my strength waning with age. Time for an evo with a lot less weight,Heritage or a dyna. You'd think they are gold plated with the way they are priced locally. I rode a 72 FLH that i had stripped down to just a wide glide style for years. My brother in law owns it now and won't sell my old shovel back to me but let's me ride it when we are in FL. Visiting . Be safe out there and tell the Mrs i said God Bless you both ❤

Regularly check the caliper temperature after a ride. No it shouldn't be warm if you didn't use it a fair bit. Hot is dragging. The stock brakes on my '99 FXDL with EBC HH pads would catch out anyone who says Harley brakes are cr*p. In the UK HD parts are twice what they are in the US which is already 4 times what they should be.

Did you happen to see Dave Perewitzs build for born free this year?? It's a pretty cool build.. he found a original Ness digger frame and put a first generation twin cam a engine & transmission into it. Motor went from 88 to 124" and he installed a baker 6 speed gearset into the 5 speed case.. of course the paint is killer but the entire bike is really cool. Has carbon fiber wheels and all kinds of really great parts.. Perewitz hasn't done a completed video of it since the last video was right before the bike was leaving for California, but on his and Jody's channel they've showed some videos of it.. just discovered that they had a channel recently and they have some pretty cool interviews on there with all kinds of people

Like Jim k. , I started on 57 side valve (and still have her) and was a dealership mechanic not a parts changer technician for 21 years and retired in 2000. I sold 2 shovels a 73 and 78 in 1992 and got my EVO that I have still today. Over the years I had the opportunity to service, repair and ride most all of the different HD bikes including the twin cam. We had to put a new cam bearing and adjuster from Jim’s till the Motor Company came out with the factory upgrade but like most things growing pains happen. The EVO is the winner. There were minor setbacks when she was introduced also but nothing the Motor Company made before or in my opinion since is finer than a “V” twin EVO. They run like the wind, top ends last and last, maintenance is a breeze (red lock tight) and repair is a snap. All the parts you could ever need or want are still available and affordable. Finally, this motor will hold value also. My Dad’s favorite saying was if you have to make payments for your fun, your fun owns you not you owning your fun. Make payments on more land only. Sincerely, Pops Fitch Post Script: I’m a young man also……69 years young. God Bless
