Every summer ends up being a rot girl summer for me 😅 most of your rot girl summer recs were already on my tbr and idk what that says about me. Now I'm even more excited to read them! I'm currently reading Toad by Katherine Dunn and it feels very appropriate for rot girl summer. Completely unhinged but I'm really enjoying it!

So excited for intermezzo, conversations with friends isn’t my fave Sally Rooney, but I would say I preferred it to her last (which was still very readable and carried on with themes of the first 2). So excited for your rot girl summer 😂I’m currently in mine
You are such a delight and so funny, and well-read as well. I love your vlogs/videos/whatevers. This 67-year-old girlie is a big fan and a subscriber. Keep up the great work, Rae! Oh crap, can a 67-year-old woman be a girlie? 🤔Please advise.
Thank you so much Julie! I so appreciate this kind message 🫶Absolutely you are one of the girlies 💅it’s a state of mind so in my eyes you’re part of the gang x
@@whatraereads I'm honored. Love you.
The Passing film is actually based on a Classic book by Nella Larsen! :)
Oh thank you! I will check it out as well as the film 🫶
I love seeing more of the UK (just moved here)
So glad you’re enjoying it 🫶 hoping to go on more trips around the UK soon (specifically a London book related trip!) 💕
As always, a fab vlog! Thank you for taking us to Leeds!! I visited a few years back for a gig and I loved it! The corner exchange is SO pretty as well! 🥰 I hope you enjoy Rosewater, it's on my TBR to read this summer! Also, Pet sounds really good too!
So glad you enjoyed it gal! Such a lovely city with a laidback vibe 🫶💕
As an expat living in NZ, I love that you show different cities around the UK. It’s great to see what they look like now. Thanks for this.
You’re welcome! I want to explore the uk more so I’m hoping to go on a few other city breaks soon 😊
Glad I found your channe, I love finding other UK booktubers! Also I LOVED The Heart Principle, but its a little more intense than her other books, so bear in mind!
So glad you’re here! I’ve never read any of hers before so I’m excited to see if I enjoy it, i don’t really read much romance other than Emily Henry tbh x
You'll love Stiff, Mary Roach is hilarious. She has a handful of other books if you enjoy it. Haha, that's right, don't let Goodreads be the boss of you! I just read Pet and LOVED it!
Mary Roach has such a unique way of writing dark subjects, or weird ones. I lived for it (which is weird to say because it about death lol) I’ve definitely been keeping my eye out for her others on vinted, but I’m also gonna check the library for more of hers. I think I might read pet next. Currently I’ve been reading a lot of Irish lit fiction and I’m loving it, but I need a little change 😊
I'm so grateful @Savidgereads suggested your channel! You are a breath of fresh air. You mentioned the rail system needs some work and I'd love to hear more on this topic someday. I'm from the US and always assumed the trains over there were amazing. I hope you have a great day and thanks for all the book recommendations , tours of the town and laughs. Always a day brightener. :) Also, I'm making some homemade granola in my outdoor sun oven now thanks to your inspiration.
Simon is the sweetest! Thanks so much for your kind words, I truly love making videos and having this little community and it’s always lovely to have such sweet people give me feedback like this 😊🫶. I feel like our trains used to be okay, but since 14 years of Tory privatisation they’ve become ridiculous expensive and the service is shocking. I’d love for them to be publicly owned but I’m not sure we will get that anytime soon 😢. You’ve inspired me to make my own granola now! I’ve had a recipe saved for ages and still haven’t gotten around to making it haha 💕
Leeds was cute! Loved the colourful bookshop, brill choices of books as well, hope you enjoy them! (Rosewater in hardback is fully it btw). -Hormonal acne gang (can never be free of that shite…) ✌️
Such a gorgeous little city, it had a great vibe and the people were all so friendly and kind. Reminded me of a mini Manchester. Glad I’m not alone with the hormonal acne 😭 literally a constant battle
@@whatraereads constant (and from early teens as well, what a dream… 🥱)
Glad you’re feeling better and out of the slump. Mary Roach slaps. She’s great. Can’t believe Holdfast was closed, I hope you’ve called your lawyers 😂 Zomg. That shop with all the bookmarks! Rosewater is ace. I’m very keen to read Pet this summer. Fav vid as always.
Thanks Simon! I feel like it takes me so long to get over a cold/flu 😤 - I was shocked the book boat was closed but tbh we just had a laugh about it and I’ll definitely check it out next time 💕
omg that coaster
They had so many good ones. I almost came back with a bag full of Taylor themed stuff 😂
@@whatraereads that sounds like the opposite of a problem
Definitely interested in a vid of celebrity bookclubs. You've mentioned Gone girl and good thrillers, not sure if youve read it and if i just link gone girl to it as i read them at the same time but - girl on a train? Not much of a thriller reader, but agree with another commenter, hunting party isn't so good, although a friend of mine has recommend the guest list to me as worth a read.
Yes I read the girl on the train when it came out and loved it! (Hated the film adaptation thought 🤣)
@@whatraereads I just spotted the book club video. Am new to your channel and watching all our of sync! I have fallen into the habit of if I love or even just really enjoy the book, don't watch the film, so I've managed to avoid gone girl, girl on the train, memoirs of a geisha and virgin suicides (just the ones off the top of my head). Oddly enough usually ok if the other way around (like the film will read the book)
@@jillybeanh67 hope you enjoy the bookclub video! i am totally the same re books adaptations. If i'm a fan of the book i find that the adaptation isn't really as good. A good adaptation i see recently was the film Eileen based on the Ottessa Moshfegh book
just found your channel and am obsessed!! not to plug my own work but I edited an anthology called Peach Pit: Sixteen Stories of Unsavoury Women that I think would be right up your street!🧡✨
Thank you so much! Omg yes I know that book it’s actually on my to buy list so I will 100% check it out 🫶
Oooh Ann Patchett told me about Tom Lake before she started it because it takes place near where I live. She sent me a postcard to tell me about it. State of Wonder is my favorite fiction book by her!
Love that! In definitely interested in reading more of her books, so I’ll check out state of wonder 🫶
Love my cameooo 💕
You’re joining KZread next
She served 💕 Looks and all. And ts did her thing too 😜 Glad you had fun at both! Kept it very real with the bracelets, that would have been me too, lol - nope, it’s not happening…
Thank you gal! It was such a wonderful show and experience 💕
