From 13:57-14:03 you open and slam the tailgate. I notice a wobble on the tire itself. Is that okay? I just purchased and had this kit installed. When I’m going over bumps it shakes and makes a noise from it rocking back and forth. Does your do the same and is it noisy when you go over bumps?
@Dr_Flankensteinn4 жыл бұрын
I have the same and it does the same, I would not recommend this tire carrier. It literally shakes and flexes the entire door. I have video of how loud it is too. It seems like it needs the RUBBER BACK STOP which I couldn't see in this video - I had 4WP install mine I was the first one they did - it took them 3 tries just to get the door LEVEL when it closes.

Tell me, how did you go about taking care of the title/vin issues from all of this? I have a '48 CJ-2A replica body that I'm dropping on a 1993 Geo Tracker frame which I own the title to. Do you think I would have any issues with the cops? They're pretty laid back here in NC and I wouldn't be driving it all over the place, mostly around my small town, but I'm worried someone would make a stink about it because the willys replica body came from thin air with no ID.
@michaelheinrich443 жыл бұрын
in germany, vin is also called 'Fahrgestellnummer' which means chassis-number. Therefore the frame, axles and motor is relevant. The body isnt. But maybe the manufacturer name is changed to your name then.

Nice video. Thanks a lot for sharing it. I have a question since I just got the same tire carrier and I'm waiting for it arrives. I saw that you removed the Tailgate Bumpstops and didn't replace it for a long one. I read on the JL wrangler forum website that we need to have a bump stopper to keep the spare tire very firm. www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/tailgate-bumpstops.5667/ How it's holding since the installation? Do you think it'll really not need the bump stopper?
@macgyvsahr3874 жыл бұрын
It did not come with a bigger bump stop. We found that once the tail gate latch was adjusted tighter the whole tailgate and tire had very little shake. It just survived the Rubicon with no shaking or ratling.

@ForesthillOutlaws Жыл бұрын
That Asian piece of crap frame is fully boxed and dramatically stronger than any stock frame of any of those jeeps of that era. That said a longer wheelbase, plus a stronger frame allows for many more suspension options and axle and tire choices. Hope this clears that up. I love American made steel and products but definitely no reason to trash on someone’s project using excellent steel as well.
