    I have had really good luck with my MPS. Had 2 holosun enclosed fail, but for the cost, if the MPS cant stat operational, I will be going bsck to the RMR or irons! I went enclosee because of rain and snow, was at a class and saw the front lens of an ACRO pop out. Steiner makes really good optics and their warranty and service is impeccable.

    New sub, missed training at imapct shooting this year, hopefully can catch you next year. Have question about your set up, the Leopold LCO seems to be a cowitness RDS, I am running a holosun 512 and looking at going to a ftc magnifier, and curious of your thoughts today on a 3x or 5x in this application

    1) do you find that the long stroke system that’s become popular is too slow with heavier bullets? 2) do you find that - with the LS system - when reloading a topped off mag in a hot chamber (in the middle of a stage) that it can cause weird issues?

    Thank you for the ideas. Can you do one for those stuck at an indoor range with limited ability to transition or move? I try to use multiple small targets to "transition" to on my piece of cardboard but I know I am barely moving the gun. I also sometimes aim at a neighbors target and then transition to mine for the shot. Hopefully I will never screw that up and hit their target lol. Just trying to do the best I can with my situation.

    You have the old version of the MPS which had a horrible battery cap. They’ve since redesigned the battery cap, which can be identified by having a slightly domed shape on top unlike your flat one. Steiner has an excellent warranty department- I’ve sent 4 MPS back to them for non catastrophic failures and they always sent me a brand new replacement. I’ve since replaced all my MPS with the Lead & Steel PB-3. It combines the best of the Acro and MPS with some additional improvements. It’s built like a tank. So far so good

    My agency has issued roughly around 150 P2s, plus many dozens of individual purchases and we’ve had very few issues or failures across a fairly large sample size. The MPS on the other hand has been pitifully bad with a ton of failures. They fail so often Steiner eventually sent us a small reserve supply of replacement optics to help keep officers up and running during warranty claims. Which was nice of them, but just speaks to how unreliable this optic is. As much as I’d love to run an SRO at work I’ve had issues with mine in the rain during matches. Enclosed emitter is still the way to go for certain uses and unfortunately the P2, 509T, and maybe RCR are the only viable options we have to choose from.

    Jesus. That ACRO battery tray looks even WORSE than it looked on Instagram. In the enclosed segment: I’d say the 509T and the RCR are the only ones I haven’t really seen or heard wild issues with. Honorable mention the EPS but to me it’s a 509T variant. So I group them similarly. I wish we could get a bigger window 509T. Like an enclosed 507Comp. I’ve got 2 507Comps and I love them. I just dislike cleaning them daily. Yes. It’s a laziness thing, but I don’t care 😂

    This is why Holosun gets my money. Maybe they aren't the absolute best out there (although some could argue that), but the failure rate of pistol dots seems to be relatively high regardless of the manufacturer. Keeping that in mind, why would you ever pay $500+ for a pistol dot...

  • @autonomousdefense
    @autonomousdefenseАй бұрын

    I disagree with most of this. I agree it’s big and prints but that is it. If you dryfire and shoot heavily and to have solid grip and use your eyes properly reddots regardless of window size only act as a confirmation of what your eyes are looking at. If you direct mill the Acro to a Glock it’s very flat, the recoil impulse is pretty nice, Now if you throw the Acro on a plate on something like a PDP or a Sig it’s gonna move more because both those handguns cause it to sit higher and have more whippy recoil impulses the window size really is a none issue. If we’re talking reliability all these optics mentioned fail, I’ve seen plenty of 509s die from humidity getting inside the housing because of its battery tray design one student had it happen with 3 of them. The 507 has a pretty solid track record but it dies too. I’ve not seen many Acros die simply because most people don’t buy them, previously it was due to how few aimpoint produced and other dots were available on the market my competition Glock 17 which is factory outside of a minus connector in it has had an Acro p2 on it for 10k rounds so far and it’s been great, I like it a lot. I also like the SRO a lot but it doesn’t really matter to me which one I’m using because again, it just confirms what my eyes are doing. Also the battery cap thing just isn’t an issue, it’s not even worth mentioning. If you’re using a really sharp flat head made of tool steel you’ll damage it, if it isn’t so damaged you can’t unscrew it it doesn’t matter and I think it’s fair to say anyone who actually breaks guns keep tools on them, tools in kit, tools in the truck, tools in the range bag. In normal day to day life having a verity of simple tools helps with life in general so an optic I change the zero on almost never doesn’t really matter either.

  • @VeloxTrainingGroup
    @VeloxTrainingGroupАй бұрын

    I’m glad you like it. Doesn’t change the fact that it’s by far the most broken optic I’ve seen in classes over the years. Sure everything breaks, but it’s not just a coincidence. If you think the window size is a nonissue, you probably need to shoot more to understand 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • @autonomousdefense
    @autonomousdefenseАй бұрын

    @@VeloxTrainingGroup I think window size doesn’t mean everything. Sure question my shooting, whatever, I could question why you run PDP and especially own Sigs if we’re gonna talk about historical reliability problems. Us arguing for hours in a KZread chat isn’t gonna accomplish anything. I’ve seen all of these things fail plenty and I’m not a grand master uspsa shooter but I’m willing to bet a grand master running a Glock and an Acro wouldn’t care terribly much about it. I think they’d be far more interested in the actual shooting and training consistency that gives the results.

  • @VeloxTrainingGroup
    @VeloxTrainingGroupАй бұрын

    @@autonomousdefense sure if you practice with it you could run it. That’s not what I’m arguing. What I’m saying is that dude you’re talking about, the acro would be last on his list. And for a good reason.

  • @VeloxTrainingGroup

    @@autonomousdefense I’m classified at 94.6% in Carry Optics uspsa. I can run it. I choose not to because it sucks to use.

  • @autonomousdefense
    @autonomousdefenseАй бұрын

    @@VeloxTrainingGroup I hear you. Just giving feedback on what I’ve seen, maybe later down the line I’ll also come to the conclusion the window size is a big enough problem in competition and switch. All the other issues mentioned are still on the table though, all these other optics fail plenty and if I had to pick another it would be the SRO, handguns that sit the optic higher do whip more under recoil so maybe that’s why I don’t notice it very much. I have tools on me wherever I go for both my guns and students guns if anything fails or needs to be worked on while at the range. there really isn’t enough reasons for me to stop using the Acro If I suck with it that sounds like my personal skill issue so I buy ammo and train. I also really like Glock and want to shoot them to a high level like Brantley over at trex. Doesn’t matter to me personally if it sucks im just gonna hammer that nail till I reach my goals in competition.

  • @DaBigBR
    @DaBigBRАй бұрын

    Top mount emitter on the MPS seems to significantly reduce false dots with the sun in the background, but makes for a lot of optic body in your field of view and a really cluttered window with tall irons. Using either no irons or a taller "normal" set works much better. Battery cap might be worse than the Acro - impossibly shallow and easily damaged with their tool. Battery life is not that good compared to much of what is out there. Also not a very bright dot unless you enable auto-shutoff (with auto-shutoff turned on you get access to max brightness, it is locked out of auto-shutoff is disabled. Glass clarity is great (probably why battery life sucks), buttons have good feel, the dot is the most astigmatism friendly one I've seen, and the design is eye catching, though.

    The battery cap being messed up is your doing. Don’t try to use a rock to change the battery 😆 I have 1 on a Staccato Heritage 4.15” that had been perfect. The window size is irrelevant if your draw is good. I have video of my draws using the P2. Sub 1 second from safariland.. I am a huge fan of the 509T. I think it’s the best enclosed optic available currently. I run 1 on a 4.25” Prodigy

  • @VeloxTrainingGroup
    @VeloxTrainingGroupАй бұрын

    Glad you like it! Window size has nothing to do with draw imo. And yes, the battery cap is messed up do to me using a flat head screw driver. For $600 I should be able to unscrew it with a 9mm case and it not get messed up. There’s some way nicer options, therefore, I don’t get the hype.

    I've been liking my 508t since it replaced my RMR that I carried with for 5 years. Only thing I haven't liked are the brightness buttons. With the RMR buttons, it was very easy to quickly and discreetly change the brightness. The 508t buttons are quite tiny and take a little longer to find through clothing. I've also found that since both buttons are on the same side of the optic, I have to take another bit of extra time to check if I'm on the top or bottom button before pressing in adjustments while digging in a less discreet manner through my shirt.
