DIY TECH BROS

DIY TECH BROS

Hi!
This channel is hosted by Chris and Mike - The DIY Tech Bros!
We are two brothers who like build stuff with Arduino (micro controllers), Raspberry Pi (micro prosessors), ESP8266, ESP32. It can be online (IoT) services, LoRa, HC-12 / 433 Mhz that are useful. But it can also by not-so-useful, but fun, builds as well. That's why we love thinkering.

We are building stuff like baby monitors with cameras, home security cameras, mailbox notification systems, door and windows IoT sensors and much much more. We also build apps when needed, but in most cases IFTTT and Blynk does the trick.

Join us in thinkering and building!

What version of FlatCam did you guys use? It seems to be quite different now and I can't follow this as easily.

Probably the 5W also has shorter focal point. So it gets wider faster. I have a 5.5 W and it can cut 3 passes 250 mm/min 3 mm but 6 mm takes almost 20 passes.

Just keep in mind that lowering the clock speed means your sample rating is also affected. You could run into the situation where your sample times are actually longer at lower clock speed therefore running longer than had you left the clock speed alone and for just a shorter period.

Hi, I tried this skecth with Arduino UNO (not Arduino NANO). The results are quiet diffenrent. The consumption in sleep mode is just 15% less than running at full speed (16MHz). I think this should also work in UNO? Or am I wrong? (I do not have a NANO to try it

Great video! Now in June 2024 my Arduino IDE is version 2.3.2. For the board I use the ATTiny25/45/85 in the ATTinyCore submenu. Programmer: Arduino as ISP. To avoid getting "A programmer is required..." error message I have to use Sketch -> Upload Using Programmer menu item instead of Sketch - > Upload. Then everything works for me.

The regulator ITSELF uses a few milliamps without any current being output from it. That's why.

I don't see the benefit, compared with just cutting the power supply... this result in absolutely ZERO power consumption. There are simple boards with a relay for ESP8266-S01, just feed the power through the relay and the button bypass the relay, that's it. No removal of resistors, no soldering, no additional parts (expect the relay board... and the battery will last for ever in power off :-)

The option for Arduino as ISP (ATTinyCore) did not appear for me. I set my programmer setting to Arduino as ISP and would get an error saying I am missing a programmer. All I had to do was instead of clicking upload, I had to click on the sketch tab and select upload using programmer. It worked perfectly after that.

The ESP-01 can be also used as wireless connection module and can cooperate with any other MCU board. The benefits of this is that it simplifies the program for the main controller and you can put all the network and security stuff inside the ESP-01. I also made an instant serial connection between two ESP-01s via websockets, it acts like a virtual wire between two devices. By doing it this way, the code for the main controller is very simple and all complicated connection and security stuff is done by the ESP-01. The main program handles only two states, connected or disconnected, that's all. A very clean solution.
