was up there last week from NoCo. there was moose everywhere. Great area.
Absolutely my favorite trip. Mountain lakes are awesome and the chain of lakes in that area awesome to explore.
Love your set up. That looks like you can really get off the pavement. Nice video work
It has slowly evolved and slowly allowed me to get out further.
Yep coffee out in the open with that kind of morning is 🤩
My favorite time of the day
did u make it back home in the Jeep? 93 YJ with a 4.0 I know you did!
No problem AO!
Beautiful morning. Good trip to share with your son.
Thanks, Ralph. We had a good time.
What a gorgeous morning in the fog. However, with the heat, I would have split to. There is always next time.
So true!
I must say a very talented young man you have there! Our instincts are here for a reason. Always listen! A bit tough weather wise but you shared a trip. On another note, was wondering if you are going to Big Brutus event? Thought I might go up for a Saturday day trip, and hopefully meet you and some other likeminded folks. Won’t bring my rig, still cleaning out and prepping for solo travel sadly after my loss👼. We’ve got to get through some nasty heat here, but our weather is just around the bend🤞.
I have some friends going to Big Brutus. They said the music is good. I will keep watching for it and see how my schedule works out for that. We have some transitions happening.
good luck my friend
WoW! That’s Lovely! Cheers for more exciting and breathtaking adventures!🥂🤩❤️✨
Thanks Juan!
looks like it was worth the drive
Great time with my son and the morning mist was awesome.
Looks like a beautiful spring drive.
It got hot in the Jeep …barely tolerable. But… the scenery was nice. 👍
Looks like a nice camping adventure
It was!
Have fun!
Than Jon!
Awesome the Jeep did that well.
It really did do well.
what wheel set up are you running? did i miss it? or are you running stock wheel and tires?
Stock rims and stock tire size. With larger tires, you lose torque against the ground. Pilots do not have a low range to compensate for this.
@@ericscamping thinking about getting a 2nd gen facelift. I do like wider tires they don’t need to be huge though I just like a slight poke but seems like it wouldn’t work well for pilot…. 😢. Could I get your opinion? I like your set up though
The Faulken Wildpeaks that I have on my vehicle do have a little wider stance compared to other tires. But they are expensive. I would be very cautious of using wheel spacers to achieve a wider stance. The leverage against the wheel bearings is a hub bearing killer.
@@ericscamping ahhh okay cool cool. I will have to think about it. Not planning to do full off reading and trails but I do go fishing and camping. Currently have a taco lifted on 35’s and now that I think about it. It is kind of overkill lol
Beautiful country to ride in. Enjoyed 😊!
Thanks Jon!
I bet that area is much hotter now than in May. Great day hike!
I think so. Wind is rough as well as the days warm from the cooler nights.
@@ericscampingWhere are you going next?
The Badlands. Released tomorrow.
❤
Looks like a fun hike!
It was a little warm near the end but it was a great workout and great views.
Is that an Iguana?
Kind of looks that way, but I am not exactly certain.
Yes.
Who’s going to hate you …. Enjoy driving it
The Rustoleum 50 dollar paint job generates some feelings, but it is good enough for me. 😂
how many miles on your pilot
185211
Very well done Im gonna bring my bucket of soapy water and give that engine bay a bath 🤣
Don’t wet you electronics.
It has been a sport for quite some time for people to buy police look alike vehicles and attempt to get a reaction out of people on the road. One time I was traveling to a clients home and a Ford Explorer got right in behind me and began to tailgate me very closely, then over the knoll appeared Oklahoma State Highway patrol. The individual in the vehicle, who was actually with his young family, hardly maintained control of his vehicle he braked so hard to get away from my car. These folks have been out there for a long time doing this, many people blame the police. This is an impersonator with a lot of issues. The truth is that the police need to do more about these types to improve their own reputation.
Looked like a great time, also wonderful meal for recovery 😋
It was a great workout.
Not sure the gate and sign is actually accurate. Lots of people near pubic land are throwing these up!
That is happening but I trust OnX.
Beautiful ride. Did it get hot?
Towards the end it did get hot.
Which camping site for tent and fishing 🎣 number spot
Just depends on how far you want to walk to the water I guess. I am not tuned into the good fishing spots there.
Definitely another bucket list trail for me! Thanks! It’s going to be one heck of a road trip for me. Carson NF to San Juan NF to Moab/ Arches NP to Wasatch NF to Grand Teton and Yellowstone to LivingstonMT to Blackhills SD. A good five weeks- your content inspires me and provides good information. Thank you
That sounds like a really good loop. If you can stay at Horse Thief Lake in the Black Hills. We visited it long before, as a family. I started making videos, but it is an absolute winner. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Almost got T-boned running. Can’t be up to any good lurking and running!
Agreed!
People have gone crazy. Used camping equipment sells for like ….nothing.
😂
Hi Eric! Great video… I’ll be out on Carson NF next month- driving my new Subaru Outback Wilderness from South Carolina… can’t wait to hit some beginner- intermediate off road trails for driving and hiking. I wonder if my car could handle these conditions. It has 9.5 ground clearance and I got modded skid plates to protect the organs! 😂Any suggestions/ other recommendations are welcome 🙏
If you head up to the Cimarron Campground the way I did you will have plenty of clearance. There’s nothing like an obstacle on any of those National Forest roads. :-) At least when I went up lol.
Oklahoma sure looks different to the west than your videos in the south east.
You are right. There are a lot of different “biomes” in Oklahoma.
Max looks like a lot of fun!
He is a teaser and extremely playful.
❤. Great drone shots.
Skimming the grass was my favorite.
Looks a lot like a 3.5L 2013 Ford Explorer. If I squint carefully, I think the VIN ends in GA12316. If I had to guess, it's changed owners a few times, probably in 2019, 2020 and last in 2023, and if that license plate holder is any indication, sold by Hiawatha Ford for about $13K in Hiawatha, Kansas. While it was driven like it was stolen, it doesn't appear to actually be stolen.
I wonder if they stole much from all the sites that morning ?
Thieves more than likely. Did they take anything??
Probably was a thief. What of real value is at a camp site? Idiot of a thief. I keep the Crown Jewels right by the campsite post.
@@ericscamping This reads like you're calling the commenter an idiot.
@@socoguy719 they are. what are you stupid?
@@socoguy719 thanks. I clarified.
I think I’m just looking for something practical off-road worthy and affordable.
The 4WD version of the Pilot is worthy for moderate to easy offroading. It will never be a crawler.
Gracias
I do not know the answer to your question..
I changed and cleaned up erg. Put 3 cat deletes on and im gonna take it on some long drives before I put new cats on
I would like to know how that turns out. Are you trying to clean it out?
Are you trying to clean it out before you put on the new cats?
Looks like you’ll be ready when our temps become more tolerable for us cool season camping enthusiasts….i know I’m ready!!!!
This was a hot weekend.
This was a hot weekend.
Nice work. That’s a good mod for the activities you do. Good choice and good work.
I have seen a lot of folks with the tire swing out on the vehicle and it is a really nice add on.
The tail gate with the spare tire mounted on it are aproblem for everyone.
I figured!
Looks good. Broken off bolts are no fun.
Tried a couple way to fix it before I got lucky.
Rusty bolts are a pain.
That one was especially.
As always nicely done brother. One of these days I will build my trailer up for more storage. When you still tent camp seems like you never have enough space for everything.
Yep. Wranglers are small and you always need another spot.
Good stuff thanks
You bet!
The front end looks awesome!
Thanks AO!
Nice change in appearance. I like how you take your time and think it through.
Thanks Jon! I try to do things in a reasonable sequence.
That gooks great. I think it looks good enough to do the rest of the Jeep.
I may do that. Some of it comes down to having the time.
Looks much better than when you got it!
Thanks Ralph! It is a work in progress.
