Heard thro a review that Sound signature of H95 and H190 are similar..with more body and rounded AS COMPARED wirh H120...thats a bit bright or revealing at 1 khz and above...pls clarify

I would say the description is familiar, but it needs to be said that those differences in signature is very subtle and not at all dramatic. All three will match the Dynaudio speakers really well.

@@HegelMusicSystem Dear Anders, Thanks for the swift reply; the reason behind my enq. is i am a bit too sensitive to the sharp trebles...in the Cassette tape era, i used to manage this with GRAPHIC EQUIVALIZER, that facility is not there in Purist Integrated 2 channel amps....but I understand the technical reason behind that. Why didn't Hegel produce a SACD player at least?... Because listening of a CD its so old- fashioned and make no sense to buy some.. When I want listening from a digital optical disc data storage, high classy sound, its SACD..and of course not a CD..unbelievable ..Because the dynamic range of a SACD are much higher than a CD. Dynamic range: 115 dB; frequency range: 20 Hz- 50 kHz. CD Dynamic range: 90 dB.. So I'm waiting for a good excuse.. By the way I'm a Swiss Hegel Fan....and my budget are free for the new Hegel H600 Integrated Amplifier.. what a hammer of Amplifier ..before I used a McIntosh machine..

I’m looking for an amplifier to replace my Cambridge audio cxa61. To my ear the treble sounds tilted up on the cambridge amp which can sound harsh. My speaker is the Kef R3 Meta. Is it true that theres good synergy between kef and hegel? I was planning to buy the Hegel H120 and a dealer told me that you’ll be releasing a replacement to the Hegel H120 this year. Is that true and when I expect to see the successor to the H120 on the market?

Thank you for the interest. There is absolutely a great symmetry with Hegel and KEF. We have a tight partnership for that reason. With Hegel you get all the details in the KEF but at the same time a smooth and natural high frequencies due to the very low distortion in the Hegel. The H120 would be a great match with the H3 Meta and there are no replacements planned for the H120 at this time. So definitively not this year.

It's a decent enough CD player but ridiculously expensive for a slot loading player with AKM DAC chip thats made in China. I like Hegel kit but man, expensive.

Sorry to see you feel that way. A subjective opinion is just that and we totally respect it. I do think it is a bit strange to judge it as ridiculous because it uses one of the best DAC chips in the world (if not the best for 16/44.1) and a slot in drive that quantifiably outperforms most drawer based ones in terms of precision. If you personally don't like the sound or the price point, that is another thing.

@@HegelMusicSystem There's no doubting the Viking is a decent sounding CD player. Obviously cost is relative to the purchasers budget but considering the AKM4493SEQ is a $9 (US) part I'm not sure $5000 represents good value. Just my thoughts and IMO, YMMV and all that.

No, unfortunately it would not, as the H160 does not have a similar computer inside. This works on H95, H120, H190, H190v, H390, H590 and H600 currently.

I think Andreas' story regarding active loudspeakers is spot on. After enjoying the simplicity of Sonos speakers for a while I wanted a little better sound quality. So I upgraded to a stereo pair of higher end Devialet Phantoms. And a few years after that I choose a H390 (with Bowers and Wilkins 702 signatures). For me, this was another great step towards audio nirvana. Now there is always room for improvement, but the H390/B&W702 combo is more than I imagined I could ever afford regarding sound quality. BTW, I never imagined Airplay could really sound this good!

Great amplifiers, started with h190 and love it, upgraded to h390 last year, my only gripe with it its that is not avaiable in white, but everything else is fantastic about it, my b&w 702 s2 never sounded as good, my endgame amp maybe🔥

I’ve owned the V10 for 9 months. Yes it sounds wonderful but the V10 is a royal pain in the butt,if you have multiple carts. The dip switches are terrible. Yes, if you shut the device off and then remove it from the shelf, it’s easy to change. But honestly, who does that? Again, if you have one cart and set and forget, then you’d avoid the aforementioned. As for the impedance setting inside: what a waste. Seriously, I ordered online so who’s gonna make those changes? And why would you have them if the only people who can change the settings are Hegel dealers? I love the idea and I paid for it but the feature is useless to me. Recap: The sound of the V10 is amazing and works well with my Hegel Pre20 but…

Please explain why the volume range sounds different now. I used to listen at 45, now it requires 55 to sound the same. H190 2021 firmware before roon ready update. I keep notes and this is one thing I noticed. I would like to rollback to previous firmware.

The reason is cost. To make a really good internal phono stage it would need to be well shielded also. So it boils down to cost.

Have H190. Yes, pulling the power cord, waiting ++30 secs, reinserting and waiting for hours. Last tried again overnight, with same 'black' result. Still see lights blinking on the Ethernet port, though. No response/display light with the remote or flipping the power button. Now rather helpless...

Sorry to hear it. What you are experiencing is the safety feature of the amp. If an update fails and you rebooth like you do, it will lock you out while searching for the final part of the update. In your case it seems it doesn't succeed. There have been a couple of cases. The most likely fix is: 1. Make certain the amp is connected directly to the router (not via a switch) and reboot again. If this was always the case then you can skip this step. 2. If that doesn't help by itself, you should go to the amplifiers website. Simply type the IP address in your browser and you will get there. Otherwise you can find it in the list of network devices on your PC or router. Not Mac. 3. Select update via the web interface. 4. If it still doesn't solve it, please reach out to us on [email protected]

@@HegelMusicSystem The H190 local web page says the current firmware version is p5123.32.0 and that no update is needed. I then use the Hegel remote app to try to turn it on, and the relays momentarily engage before turning off again. The amp is behind two switches, so it will take some time to rewire to connect directly to the router. No other way?

H190 owner. Ran update before attempting new remote functionality. Crashed mid update with message “looking for network”. After waiting & waiting unplugged from wall for 30+ seconds. Plugged back in. Now nothing. Completely blank screen. Will not activate w remote or manually. What now?

In some cases, when the update freezes and you unplug and reinsert the power cable, the display will not turn back on until the update is finished. You can however still see there is activity on the network cable input.

Would be extra useful if all the inputs could be selected, and not just the digital ones. I’d like to be able to pick XLR so pressing the TV volume would go into HT mode. My AVR comes on anyway with eARC. That way TV would trigger both to turn on.

What a screw that ground is, an amazing design! And the custom design shitter power supply, allowing for an easy V2 price warp. Two little boards that are “almost fully discrete”. Sure it must sound incredible.

Great amplifiers, started with h190 and love it, upgraded to h390 last year, my only gripe with it its that is not avaiable in white, but everything else is fantastic about it, my b&w 702 s2 never sounded as good, my endgame amp maybe🔥

Love my H390 ❤ this setting change is great. So if i lock the volume level to maybe 75 and turn on USB volume control; would i be safe from exceeding the limiter set on the console while changing volume on the usb device? Thank you again 😊

I think that is subjective, and you must judge for yourself, but we believe so since we can fully control the entire datastream in the Viking.

Oh, that is almost impossible since the choice of speaker and taste is so personal. But the H95 is powerful enough to work with a very wide range of floor standing speakers

No, but you need to update the firmware in your amplifier to get this feature. It can be done via the menu.

You can simply run a firmware update on your existing H390 and get all the new functionality for free.

I’ve owned the V10 for 9 months. Yes it sounds wonderful but the V10 is a royal pain in the butt,if you have multiple carts. The dip switches are terrible. Yes, if you shut the device off and then remove it from the shelf, it’s easy to change. But honestly, who does that? Again, if you have one cart and set and forget, then you’d avoid the aforementioned. As for the impedance setting inside: what a waste. Seriously, I ordered online so who’s gonna make those changes? And why would you have them if the only people who can change the settings are Hegel dealers? I love the idea and I paid for it but the feature is useless to me. Recap: The sound of the V10 is amazing and works well with my Hegel Pre20 but…
Thank you for posting and we totally relate to the hassle if you have more than one cartridge. The reasons things are like they are is for the purpose of very short signal paths and at a reasonable price.

Please explain why the volume range sounds different now. I used to listen at 45, now it requires 55 to sound the same. H190 2021 firmware before roon ready update. I keep notes and this is one thing I noticed. I would like to rollback to previous firmware.
Why is there no phono input?
The reason is cost. To make a really good internal phono stage it would need to be well shielded also. So it boils down to cost.

This is really useful, especially the automated channel switching. I currently use an AppleTV remote to control my H95 volume up/down and on/off using the mute button.

Does it power on automatically in Home Theater mode?
No, unfortunately it does not. The only automatic power on is over the ethernet port by using Airplay, Spotify or something like that
It has now been 4 hours after forced restart, with network port lights still blinking. No light or response from pushing power button or the remote. What to do now?
By forced restart, you mean pulling the power chord for at least 30 seconds and then re-entering? Which model do you have?
Have H190. Yes, pulling the power cord, waiting ++30 secs, reinserting and waiting for hours. Last tried again overnight, with same 'black' result. Still see lights blinking on the Ethernet port, though. No response/display light with the remote or flipping the power button. Now rather helpless...
Sorry to hear it. What you are experiencing is the safety feature of the amp. If an update fails and you rebooth like you do, it will lock you out while searching for the final part of the update. In your case it seems it doesn't succeed. There have been a couple of cases. The most likely fix is: 1. Make certain the amp is connected directly to the router (not via a switch) and reboot again. If this was always the case then you can skip this step. 2. If that doesn't help by itself, you should go to the amplifiers website. Simply type the IP address in your browser and you will get there. Otherwise you can find it in the list of network devices on your PC or router. Not Mac. 3. Select update via the web interface. 4. If it still doesn't solve it, please reach out to us on [email protected]

@@HegelMusicSystem The H190 local web page says the current firmware version is p5123.32.0 and that no update is needed. I then use the Hegel remote app to try to turn it on, and the relays momentarily engage before turning off again. The amp is behind two switches, so it will take some time to rewire to connect directly to the router. No other way?

When using Roon to stream the tv remote automatically switched back to Optical and away from network.

H190 owner. Ran update before attempting new remote functionality. Crashed mid update with message “looking for network”. After waiting & waiting unplugged from wall for 30+ seconds. Plugged back in. Now nothing. Completely blank screen. Will not activate w remote or manually. What now?
Disregard. After ~10 minutes the amp automatically came back on.
@@butchwillard55 That is great to hear! We have had some reports of this happening. In some cases, when the update freezes and you unplug and reinsert the power cable, the display will not turn back on until the update is finished. You can however still see there is activity on the network cable input.
Would be extra useful if all the inputs could be selected, and not just the digital ones. I’d like to be able to pick XLR so pressing the TV volume would go into HT mode. My AVR comes on anyway with eARC. That way TV would trigger both to turn on.
