Peter Viet

Hey everyone! I'm just a guy from Europe, Poland to be more precise, who loves speaking Vietnamese. I spent a few years living in Hanoi, Vietnam, and during that time, I fell in love with the language and the culture. I think there's something truly special about learning languages and being able to communicate with people in their native tongue. So, alongside my regular job, I started recording these videos for you all just for fun. I hope you enjoy them! 🇻🇳\u003c3

One of my friends is like fifth generation Mexican, and nobody from their grandparents down speaks Spanish, but they definitely look Mexican ancestry, they get other Latinos trying to speak Spanish at them on a regular basis but don't understand a thing, it usually really agitates the other person :-P

I have met many Japanese Americans that dont even speak Japanese. The sad thing is that many also have zero ethics and humility. The opposite of real Japanese.

Honestly...its kinda relatable. My parents speak lao, but they never really taught me except for basics. But I can't really speak it nor do I have anyone to converse in lao with. Everyone I grew up (school and work) with either spoke english or spanish. Lol

If I go into a Vietnamese restaurant or run into Vietnamese person I switch to speaking Vietnamese bc it’s respectful and good etiquette. He’s not shaming her nor being malicious. It’s a friendly encounter. It’s consider rude if I were to speak English instead when I know how to speak Vietnamese. If I face a Vietnamese person I speak Vietnamese. If that makes any sense lol. So he’s not being rude. Rude would be not acknowledging or purposely ignoring that the person is not Vietnamese. It looks like he’s in a Vietnamese restaurant too if I can make out the menu has noodles and something else but there’s a few more girls behind the counter in the kitchen so it’s possible it’s serving Vietnamese cuisine I’m not sure lol. These days a lot of younger generations also refer to as “lost roots” so not all can speak nor understand mother tongue ..nor comprehend the different regions accents/dialects. Some regions sounds completely different and one from another may not understand them. It can be quite difficult to master all. It can sound that different and similar depending. His is very thick for some of us to understand also but perfect for most. This accent is more common and abundant in population. Without language limits you from good foodies to cultural historic understandings. Parents just want their children to know their roots and not forget. When I met my grandma I was able to communicate so that was priceless to learn a language I thought was dead bc no one around me barely spoke it in the 80’s and 90’s. Many younger generations do not speak the language grows in numbers as the years go by. It’s rarely come across as shaming. Vietnamese are generally very cute. You will often see girls in Vietnam walking and holding hands like sisters or ban together to cross the busy streets lol.
