    Nicely done Wayne! I just did a similar swap except I went from a blown 4.0L V6 to a 4.6L 3v. I ended up adding ALL of the Foose Stallion parts to it. Switching out the incandescent bulbs to LEDs will keep the BCM\Sequential unit happy. Odds are you will not need the relays at all. Bad news is quality LED bulbs are around $20 a piece and you need 8 of them. (6 Red and 2 White for the reverse.)

  • @waynejanzen9346
    @waynejanzen93462 ай бұрын

    Thanks for letting me know the wiring manual doesn't have a schematic for the tail lights. I did a lot of searching and couldn't find a schematic so I suspected it didn't exist. Yes, cost was the main reason I went with relays first. There are cheap Chinese LEDs out there, but I haven't had much luck with them in the past. If the noise of the relays drives me crazy, I still might go with some quality LEDs! Thanks so much for the feedback. I really appreciate it.

    Hi, I have a ‘67 F100 swapped onto a ‘06 Mercury Grand Marquis. It sits a little too low. Did the strut spacers provide any body lift? (Where did you source them). I like you’re ride height.. or maybe a touch higher. I’d like to use a period looking rim. The white painted P71 wheels look go also.

  • @waynejanzen9346

    Hi Howard! Yes, I'm going to try getting some lumber out of it. It's a hemlock that was close enough to our house to do some damage and was starting to die. The entire center of the tree was rotten at the base, so I'm really glad I cut it down. I'll have to see how far up the tree the rot goes to determine how much wood I can salvage. I cut down about a half dozen other trees at the same time that look more solid, so I think my lumber needs for this year are taken care of. However, as I'm sure you already know, there is a lot of work required between "timber" and boards!

    Wayne any chance you could talk about your steering? Did you need to modify it?

  • @waynejanzen9346
    @waynejanzen93463 ай бұрын

    Hi Sean, I talk a bit about the steering column in one of my videos. Ill provide the link. Basically what I did was strip the crown Vic mounting brackets off the column and get it down to just a tube. Then I welded two pieces of angle to the tube. One mounted the column under the dash, and the other ran perpendicular to the dash and mounted on the f100 original brake pedal bracket. The column is made to collapse on impact and has an inner tube that the outer tube can slide on. I shortened the column slightly by collapsing the column, sliding the outer tube over the inner tube. Unfortunately I lost this safety feature after the brackets were welded on. There is a plastic bushing that allows the two tubes to slide over each other. I was worried it would melt when I welded on the brackets, so I disassembled the column before I welded it. I'm going from memory, so I hope I got all this right. kzread.info/dash/bejne/apl5y5eRfs2XYKQ.htmlsi=UGH8Kp6doYqK7pCu

    @waynejanzen9346 great information thank you. We kept the firewall and floor of the crown vic, then added in filler sheet metal between the existing firewalls. So things are just a little different than yours, I kinda wish we had approached this the way you did, by keeping the factory truck firewall and floor. Oh well. We cut the dash out to do this, and will be welding it back in this week. Hope to tackle steering soon, trying to gather as much information as possible so we get it right. Thanks for the comment and the great content. Cheers from Oceanside High School, NY.

    The doors will be much harder than you think. A few things have changed in the doors. Prepare to swap out the entire harness and the window motors. Use the foam / rubber seal for the 2014 mirrors to mark your template for the holes in the door. The entire process is doable but it will take more time than expected.

    Thanks for the tips and warning about the doors Pat. I appreciate it. It does sound like more work than I had hoped, but I'm not too surprised. It seems there are very few components that are interchangeable between the two cars. About the only thing I've used from the 09 is the body shell. I'm just glad it is possible to make the doors work with the '14 wiring harness. I'm thinking I might have to pull the front fenders off to get enough access to connect the wiring harness in the door jamb? Do you know if it's possible to do this without removing the fenders or doors?

    Thank Howard! I was worried about the wiring too, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. Since I kept the gauges, wiper motor, and steering column from the car, it was really just a matter of labeling everything really well when I took the body off the car and hooking everything back up when I put the truck body on. Getting rid of the wires I didn't need (like power window, door locks and air bag circuits) was probably the most time consuming part. I had to open up the wiring harnesses, trace the wires back to the fuses boxes, and then regularly test start the car to make sure I hadn't cut the wrong wires by mistake. Again, not really that hard to do, just had to be methodical.
