Really good episode, just got into the industry and want to end up here some day!
❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing! I have had a very similar career progression within the investment firm I'm with in 5.5 years, and I'm always excited to watch these interviews and learn from others. This one hit close to home as I can see my own career progression in her story. I also enjoyed hearing more of her admin/paraplanner role. So many podcasts highlight the financial advisors, and though extremely valuable, it's so valuable to promote and highlight those who are in supporting roles as well. There are also not enough books in the financial services support or leadership roles. It takes everyone in every role working in alignment to see results.
Thank you ❤
Loved the podcast🎉
What a great episode. Useful information 🎉
Lovely stuff thanks for feedback
Which one is best course for insurance industry
Brilliant episode! It's great how it's just a natural conversation rather than a boring question and answer session. I also agree that admin to para planning to advising isn't always the best option. Great Paraplanners are like gold dust and a lot of employers will be hesitant to let them move up to advice- giving them the hassle of trying to replace the PP.
Glad you enjoyed it, I’m fan of a good old chat! 💪
Great podcast! Completely resonate with what Richard has to say about money habits. Its our duty to share as much knowledge as possible about making better decisions
I follow both of you on LinkedIn, and the exposure I get from both of you is amazing! You both provide great support to the financial planning industry.
Many thanks!!🙏
Thank you for sharing. Financial education is crucial today to show incredible resilience and discipline in the volatile market, masterfully balancing strategy and insight for success. This dedication to continuous learning is inspiring...managed to grow a nest egg of around 100k to a decent 432k in the space of a few months... I'm especially grateful to Natalie Strayer, whose deep expertise and traditional trading acumen have been invaluable in this challenging, ever-evolving financial landscape.
I'm surprised that you just mentioned Natalie Strayer here also Didn’t know she has been good to so many people too this is wonderful, i'm in my fifth trade with her and it has been super.
Natalie Strayer has really set the standard for others to follow, we love her here in Canada 🇨🇦 as she has been really helpful and changed lots of life's
I'm a long term investor, I withdrew my profits of over £61,000 during the covid-19 pandemic.
This sounds so good and I would like to be a party to it, is there any way I can speak with her?
Her good reputation already speaks for her .I’m also one of the beneficiary of Natalie Strayer. So happy I gave it a trial after being skeptic of the process.
Extremely insightful. Interested!
Great episode! I am someone you described who is a second careerist currently working at an investment platform but looking to become a Financial Planner and one day a Chartered IFA. It’s strange to me how to big players are not already considering creating more employed positions. Nonetheless, thanks for the insight and I won’t give up!
Get your qualifications and it opens lots of doors. It’s neither easy nor hard, the industry is competitive but very rewarding. It’s an industry where your level of work will control your destiny. It’s not 9 to 5 but that’s what makes it’s so interesting. I have been in the industry over 15 years also for a bit of background. Good luck
The jobs will come, trying filling my how to get a job in Finacial planning video
You both are so brilliant and passionate about the industry-kudos to you! However, my question is: if it's that difficult to get in, is it still a career worth considering? This conversation has given me a lot of insight, but it has also left me feeling a bit terrified.
To the point regarding retiring practices. 1) Why would Financial planners NOT train staff up to ensure a successful exit? 2) Surely if more leaving than replenishment, the price they ask to purchase said clients, will decrease drastically? (They are creating a problem which will hurt them)
Acquiring firms already have advisers in place to take on the clients
@@samtheoakes I should really find out who these acquiring firms are. How can their be a shortage of advisors if these firms are meeting the demand?
Love this podcast mate 👍👍

Pretty tasteless content. Should be subtitled ' Come and see me Sisters and we'll fleece him for as much as we can get' Male CEO's beware.
Because it women divorcing men?
Fantastic news, congratulations Sam! I can see in your eyes how excited you are for this opportunity and I am really intrigued to see some more content regarding you getting setup in Dubai! Also found it hilarious that when you were explaining that your wife has told you to slow down and literally 5 seconds later the Microsoft teams notification 'blings' to let you know someone has joined your meetings lobby!
Thank you 🙏 Haha! I know right?!

Following your journey into Dubai and the Academy intrigues me. One of my hesitations for joining this career was I live an international lifestyle and just staying in the UK was a killer for me. Ideally I want a firm that appreciates remote work is doable with clients, and encourages it. Would be good to see how Hoxton operates.
It’s certainly a big pull for me! International with a strong Uk footprint is powerfully
Good on you Sam and best of luck with the new adventure.
Thanks Davey!!
Thank you 💪🙏
Incredibly inspiring interview that describes my situation to a tee! Regarding the United States, do you have any academy resources suitable for the US citizen? Thank you so much for your valuable content!
Be very interesting to hear more about the academy they offer!
Will keep you updated via the podcast and LinkedIn.
Best of luck Sam!
many thanks!
Forward-thinking FP! Great podcast...
Great episode, so insightful and you definitely don’t get that any of the exams! More than interested in the program
I am more than interested in the program!
Good interview and Kris seems humble
Amazing episode Paul 🙌🏼
Glad you enjoyed it
Amazing episode
Pleased you found it valuable
Love it, thanks for the content I have an interview coming up.
good luck!!
Great
Yes, you might say that but More and more people might face a tough time in retirement. Low-paying jobs, inflation, and high rents make it hard to save. Now, middle-class Americans find it tough to own a home too, leaving them without a place to retire without any investment. Retirement becomes truly fulfilling when you possess two essential elements: financial resources and a meaningful purpose in life. Make prudent investment choices to secure good returns and ensure a comfortable retirement and that is where Cynthia Mcclure Alexander will be useful.
Very informative💚
Very interesting, great interview!
Glad you enjoyed the episode
Very well spoken Ryan 👏🏻 great interview
Top lad!
Ugh the hand gestures are so distracting.
Handsome guy though
Much needed info thanks you!
Wish there was more recent pods with black people on your pod
Loved the podcast amazing 🙌
Pleased you enjoyed it!!
Another great pod with Natasha. I have watched both episodes back to back and it is fantastic to see the progression from Year 1 to present day where she is investing in existing client banks. Very inspirational for people out there who are looking to take the same path. There is a wealth of information about both in person networking and digital networking which will definitely be helpful for me personally in the future. Saving this episode to watch to revisit at a later date because I need to up my LinkedIn networking game!
Fantastic!! Please you enjoyed the episode!
Great video for me to come across after discovering your page only today. I’m in the process of leaving my current finance related industry and moving into financial planning and have taken note of these steps to take and will be actioning them in the very near future. Thank you for this content
Love it! Let me know how you get on and be sure to check out financial planner life academy
I self-funded all of the R0 exams, which I completed between February 2023 and January 2024. This whole time I have been in contact with the SJP academy, and everyone I have been in contact with from the recruitment manager (Matin) to the partners have been brilliant. Unlike Natasha Percy Baxter I am opting for the employed route via the academy, but it's great to hear that the same type of things I find daunting and feel anxious about, Natasha and others did as well when they were starting out. As Natasha says, it's about being willing to push yourself in order to expand your comfort zone- I am willing to do that.
if you don't mind me asking, what starting salary have you been put on as someone who's starting out going via the employed route? I also self funded my exams and joined a network (not sjp) but via the self employed route under an existing firm within the network. Self employment offered me the flexibility and grace to give myself time to build up. However, I was just wondering what the employed route would be like. Many thanks!
@@RebeccawalkswithChrist12 hi, I’ve not actually joined the academy yet. I’m still in talks with potentially several different partner practices that are interested. I have a meeting with one on Tuesday. So it comes down to negotiation with each one- it may also depend on location. I would be looking for £35k minimum really.
@@joewarhurst5646 oh wow, good luck! I'm sure it will go well for you! Please do update us on how you get on. £35k seems very reasonable too. I'm interested in the employed Vs self employed route for people entering the industry. I think it's just personal preference. As you finished the r0s at which stage will you be joining the academy? Good luck again!
@@RebeccawalkswithChrist12yes I started with R01 at the end of February last year and then I completed the final exam in January this year. However, I’m completely new to the industry and have no experience in finance at all. Since leaving uni I’ve been working in supply chain roles in manufacturing. I’m now 29 years old and a couple of years ago I kind of thought to myself it’s now or never and I just decided to go for it. I think this is something that will suit me more and give me a lot more job satisfaction.
@@RebeccawalkswithChrist12so as for the academy I actually need to freshen up again on how it’s going to work. I’ve skipped the exam stage but I think there’s around 3 months of pure training before I actually start working properly for a partner practice.
Wonderful podcast, I can't really put into words how helpful and encouraging this is. There is so much to take away from this podcast and it has given me a new set of objectives to work on to make a success out of my own path to becoming an IFA/FA. On a side note something that hit me quite hard is when you were talking about recruiters having the mindset of "if you are not good enough for us we are not going to help you". I have experienced that in my earlier years and was literally told "Don't call us we will call you" in a sarcastic and patronising tone in an early interaction with recruitment agencies in the early 00's. Thankfully now I am established in my current career I have people jumping on trains and taking me out for coffees seeing if they can help recruit people into my team and even if I would be interested in moving on. However the work you are doing to bridge that gap and help people realise their own potential and also help recruiters realise that people are brilliant and with a bit of support and guidance they can achieve great things! You are really doing great things with the FP and Recruit UK brand!
Thank you so much for the positive feedback it means a lot! Where are you in your journey? Are you in Financial planning?
Also be sure to check out the latest episode, we welcome back Natasha to see how she is getting on!
@@thefinancialplannerlifepodcast You are very welcome Sam. I currently work in Higher education as an IT manager and I am right at the start of my journey. I am about 3 weeks into my study of R01 and just using my time to find great resources and sources of information and your podcast and the academy have really been massive in helping me to focus on the right areas.
❤
💯🔥
I love you energy
🔥💯
I am just like Natasha with the notebook full of questions, ideas and business plan before even actually starting anything. And the love for learning more about a topic you are passionate about.
You’ll be pleased to know a new episode with Natasha is out tomorrow!
This is the way forward for me. I have been looking at the academies that help you into the FA route and having your own practice. Whilst this is what my goal is I would like to do it my way offering products that I truly believe in and also build up experience first working in an independent practice. I also know I lack in networking experience and wish to build this first. I am just signing up to your academy to work alongside my R0 exams now.
Get stuck in!
Great podcast. Very educational and inspiring. Keep it up SO!
We are releasing a new episode with Natasha Thursday! Be sure to have a listen!
I watched all the way through and am SO glad I found this video! Thank you for the detailed info to yourself and Gee.
Awesome!!
