For all the challenges without the RB211 the UK would have not been able to compete with PW and GE of America on the international market. The RB211 engine literally saved UK Jet engine production!

It has long been, and I have to think will always be, my favorite Bowie album. For me, it's the best overall capturing of a sound, subgenre (they created?) and stylistic moment that he ever achieved; which is saying a great deal. It's the most consistent album of his, for me, with the one weak song being the one cover. I still don't get why he didn't use "Sweet Head" or at least "Velvet Goldmine" instead.

Finally, an intelligent discussion of WWII. Even though it had to include a typically delusional Marxist among the panel, to ensure all views are present. It’s funny how all Marxists trot out the same script, lamenting class, race, capitalism. If only the true socialist paradise was given a chance! Then, when given an opportunity to answer a question, they lurch into a firebrand, hyper dramatic, long winded speech. Pretty obnoxious. I had long assumed Britain made a terrible mistake, entering the war when it did. But after listening to these arguments, I’m inclined to accept that once Belgium was overrun, that was the best bad option remaining. Up to that point, however, had Sir Edward Grey made it loud and clear to Germany that Great Britain would absolutely go to war for Belgium, then almost certainly they would not have invaded. We saw a similar situation some generations later, with the first Iraq war. The Bush administration Department of State allowed Iraq to believe there would be little or no consequences for invading Kuwait. So they rolled the dice.

The archness and faux jocularity of the introduction to this nearly puts me off continuing. Hyde and Iannucci are guarantees that there will be a lot worth hearing. I can only hope that the presenter will keep his 'humour' to himself as we continue.

I first heard Wendy Carlos in music class...in elementary school at age 10...1968 ... I was overwhelmed by Switched On Bach. Afterwards I collected Beaver & Krause, Ruth White, Mort Garson, Terry Riley , Pauline Oliveros, Edgar Varese. My parents were musicians and as a child I was introduced to Electronic Music along with typical Rock bands of the times. Years later I discovered Daphne Oram and Delia Derbyshire. Their experimentation with sounds existed years prior to Bob Moog marketing the Moog Synthesizer. Wendy Carlos and Paul Beaver were my favorite pioneers of the Moog Synthesizer. I liked Delia Derbyshire & Barry Bermange THE DREAMS which consisted of people describing claustrophobic type dreams over an ambient soundscape...which that style surfaced again in the 70s with Brian Eno Daphne Oram recorded some very bizarre and enjoyable pieces as well. I have about 9 Wendy Carlos cds. She is a very important person in Electronic Music. She is an innovator. Sonic Seasonings was very influential to Electronic artists around the globe. She is a true genius

Dr Mumbauer (15.15) stated that Sir Edward Grey had no alternative to joining the war "because Britain was threatened by Russia", which was not the case. Nobody picked this up. Russia was not a trade competitor of Britain, as Germany was.

It's not Bob Moooog, like a cow. It's pronounced like Moge. I believe he said it was Dutch. You can't be an expert on the subject if you still don't know how to pronounce Moog more than 50 years after Switched On Bach introduced the synth to the world.

No offense, but in my humble opinion, as a sci-fi serie, the Netflix version is an interesting one, while it's a piece of trash as an adaption of the Three-Body Trilogy. I don't really think the Chinese TV version is a very great one. But at least we can obviously see how they try their best to be loyal to the original book and transform the words into images and actors' performance. Besides, even as an adaption, I didn't see much more remarkable or logical new creation in Netflix version, while I can only see many important and impressive personalities of the characters and ideas of the whole story be taken away regretfully.

what a complete liar. you can't trust putin??? from a brit? they negotiated a peace deal at minks one and two, putin negotiated in goodfaith and merkel, macron, and boris johnson and van de leyen all addmitted they were stalling to give time for the ukraine to rearm. the nato powers then one year into the war nixed to new agreement to endnthe war.. boris johnson flew to kiev to tell zelensky if he agreed to the peace dealanto would withdraw all support. this is amazing dishonesty, but then the brits went all around the world killing a hundred million people to make money, while lying to the world that they were spreading civilization while they stole everything of wealth. it's amazing the out oftouch awareness of these european militarists. the anto people have been shocked when inidia and africa aren't following their lead. they remember the brutal genocides of europeans. the oresident of south africe told blinken that the usa supported the apartheid regime, but russia helped the freedom movement. wake up!!

By far the best contemporary science-fiction writer, not only is he on par with the greats from the past, but him being contemporary makes his writing much more pertinent and interesting. I hope his well never dries.
