Lyrics:
Yeah
Clean shirt, new shoes
And I don't know where I am goin' to
Silk suit, black tie (Black tie)
I don't need a reason why
They come runnin' just as fast as they can
'Cause every girl crazy 'bout a sharp-dressed man
Gold watch, diamond ring
I ain't missin' not a single thing
Cufflinks, stick pin
When I step out, I'm gonna do you in
They come runnin' just as fast as they can
'Cause every girl crazy 'bout a sharp-dressed man
Uh-huh
Top coat, top hat
And I don't worry 'cause my wallet's fat
Black shades, white glove
Lookin' sharp, lookin' for love
They come runnin' just as fast as they can
'Cause every girl crazy 'bout a sharp-dressed man
Oh, you can't lose with the dress I use
That's right, real fine

One of my greatest memories. My Dad, brother, and I (all heavily bearded men), were all going to a blues concert in a Chrysler 300. R.I.P. Dusty they just played 12 ZZ TOP songs in a row here on 95KGGO in Des Moines, Iowa this evening in his honor … this song has always been my favorite though… When this comes on at 5pm after work is over it makes you wanna jump out the window and RUN home!

RIP Dusty Hill. A unique band with the same line.up in more than fifty years has now lost their bassplayer.

I'm fairly certain that was Kenny Loggins.
That bass line is just a killer. The most underrated part of the song.

yeah, lightyears ahead of its time. True masterpiece. Chef oevre. The Beethoven of complex sequencer programming.
Always had this on in my car to and from work, played it on my CB radio Long live Dusty 🤘🤘

What do you mean you played it on your CB radio? I'm not trying to start an argument, I'm genuinely interested.
Great song, liked it back in a day, but now even more so, even used it in the short, because it fits so well and so suiting.
Good Times !!!

Gotta love it. Mercy those were the days. The 80's music was still holding strong from the 60's and 70's. Though with some slight difference in the sound. But it was still 'Rock And Roll To Me.'

ZZ Top Timeless ✨
Man. These guys were the ultimate in coolness. Tough guitar riffs and bass lines, gorgeous girls without Botox or Brazilian butt lifts, cheap sunglasses, and that boss car. Real Texas legends who made music that stand the test of time. Lots of imitators, but they will always be the real deal. Long as this song is around, my childhood memories will always be filled with fondness ☺️ RIP Dusty.

The 80s was a great time to be a teenager. Great music, and you could get into the pubs if you were underage.
"Top coat, top hat, I dont worry cause my wallet's fat." Great lyric. That's real. I real man can lead with his wallet. I love being a person who grew up on MTV. ZZ was the truth.
Who else was watching and listening to this on MTV in 1983!

I was painfully shy & a total nerd back in the 80's. So I could've really used ZZ Top's fashion advice & their sweet SWEET ride to help me out with the ladies.

+Tobias Chance Given that I've detected a bit of a running theme in ZZ Top's videos (unpopular/nerdy loser type gets bullied for being unpopular/nerdy loser type, but then is transformed by a change of clothes and the power of rock into the person who gets ALL the girls/guys worth having and gets to rub it in their bullies' noses, and also get a ride in Eliminator with three smokin' chicks), I wonder if maybe the boys themselves were a bit of the shy, unpopular, nerdy types in high school...

rdfox76 That's true & a definite possibilty. But it's hard to imagine those guys as anything but cool. Maybe it was all those catchy songs, great guitar & awesome beards that ultimately transformed them into the badasses they are today. LoL

+KoolCat ! The vast majority of people who are considered "cool" in adulthood were nerdy and unpopular in their teens especially when it comes to rock and roll musicians. Most forms of rock music are made for outsiders, the ones who never fit in with any other crowd and were usually picked on by the self elected popular crowd.

+guitar19971 Very true. And that last part about R&R being made for all the outsiders is a great way of looking at it.
