The PDF says published in 1982. I have a machine language book for the ZX Spectrum, it could well be this one in fact. Bought in, probably 1983 when I got my Spectrum.

I have the newly printed version also.

I have an original copy, I’ve only recently started looking at it. There’s some typos in the basic early on in the book, but I managed to figure it out so far. How about a series based on the book, be good to have a video tutorial to go along with it, plus it could act as an errata for new comers.

ive got the 1982 version i quite like the start of the book but then ilost interested part way through as there was some boilerplate code you have to create which was a bit strange to a newbie with z80

I bought it a year or two ago, started to follow it but found the listings had enough errors in them that the code wouldn’t work. Been sat on the shelf ever since. I honestly felt nearly 40 years was long enough for proof reading and fixing typos but I guess not 😂

Yeah unfortunately seems to be a common issue with programming and technical books.
