Heands down, possibly the best vid on yt. Very deep level yet easy to follow for new folks. Take notes yall! This is gold! Love the pruning and symbiotic growing methods. "Smells" are higher level stuff, wonderful. Your "leveling of pruning" is perfect. I'll be sharing this with everyone. Well done! To add, herbs. A follow up would be great, maybe you already have one lol.

Wow, this is filled with useful information,. I just started a mini garden this year, my first. And have already harvested beans, cucumbers and have 1 crooked neck yellow squash. I've been finding squash bugs and eggs and hatched babies, which give me the creeps. And I've been killing the adults and cutting off the leaves and dropping them in soapy water. I did not know about mint oil though. It's not to late to correct my problems thankfully. Thanks for sharing.

Gary,... absolutely love your vids.... so much good info. You've got a wonderful teaching spirit. Just started gardening again after 10 years. I didn't have a computer then so lots of aggravation with no answers. After a lengthy stint in the hospital I was chomping at the bit to get back in the soil... also have had chickens for the last couple years so soil has improved. Anyway, this afternoon I was checking all my plants and saw some critter that I didn't know what it was and gave it to my chickens hoping I wasn't feeding them any beneficial insect. I asked the Lord if I made a mistake and ironically when I came in the house this vid was the first one I watched and learned almost immediately that I fed them my only lacewing!! ergh!! But now I know. Thank you for all the detail you show and the close-ups of good & bad insects

Oh you are the best. Another “expert” was telling people to just break off leaves (with fingers) that crossed over others and prevented air flow and bees from finding powers. He did not say about treating the “wound” which is logical unless you trim where the stem is NOT HOLLOW. All the other care tips are fantastic too.

Your video was very helpful! Thank you. I wondered if anyone has ever eaten fried squash blooms? They are sooooo good! You rinse/wash the picked bloom. Make a dipping mixture of egg and milk. After dipping in egg mixture, dredge them in flour and fry in oil. Delicious! It works with both the male and female blooms. Be sure you pick the good healthy blooms and watch out for bees! And don’t pick too many or you won’t have any squash!

I watched this video last year and that’s how I found out what squash bugs are and what they were doing to my squash plant. Unfortunately the problem got out of hand and just devastated my garden. I don’t have the courage to squish the squash bugs with my bare hands or fingers. However this year, since I knew what to look out for, the squash bugs did take one of my plants but I was able to destroy all the eggs on a second plant and was able to fight the few bugs that I found with some dust. Hopefully I will have butternut squash this year. I will definitely look into the peppermint spray and companion planting. Thank you for your help. I’ve learned so much from you.

After cutting off lower leaves and damaged leaves, Spray undersides of plants with water first, wash away insects and scare away good insects. Spray undersides of leaves lightly with peppermint oil. Shake container vigorously and spray next plant. PEPPERMINT OIL SPRAY: 1 drop + 2 oz water + 1-2 drops of liquid soap OR 1/2 - 3/4 tsp + 1 gallon water + tiny amount of liquid soap (start with 1/8-1/4 tsp).

Fantastic advice!... especially about unpollinated fruit. I was worried I was doing something wrong. A DIY spray that has proven itself time and again to me is 85% water ,15% rubbing alcohol and 1 tbsp of dish soap ( I use mellaluca brand) . Gifted a plant from a box store and brought home spider mites :( sprayed the poo outta it with this mix with no I'll effects to the daisy plant! It also worked fantastic with an aphid problem I developed. (I watch out for my good bugs though :)
