@optimum I think Zowie uses those thick bezels to passively cool their high hertz strobe backlight and prevent the heat from getting trapped inside the case causing the plastic to melt/warp. Since this monitor is strobing at 1100hz it probably gets a lot hotter and needs more ventilation. Also thicker plastic just makes it more resistant to breaking in general, and acts as a shock absorber which is pretty important considering that these monitors get transported pretty frequently at Esports events.

I'm on 240hz and i never get above 200fps in dota 2 regardless if it's lowest settings or max because cpu is bottlenecking and the game dips to below 100fps in really intensive fights. I wouldn't be surprised if they leave the thick bezels in on purpose. This monitor's target demographic are the competitive e-sports type and these displays may need to move around a lot to different events and LAN parties. Having thicker bezels makes it more durable during travel and easier to adjust when you set the monitor down.

4:57 really appreciate all your videos explaining this. Maybe one day people will catch up that if you play your games at a normal fps like 60, it's always gonna look very blurry no matter how fast your display is, unless it has a black frame insertion mode like this, that runs natively at 60hz or how many fps your game is running. And this is why any gaming monitors released without this feature.. actually are not worthy of being called a gaming monitor.

I think the difference between dyac+ and dyac 2 is the dual backlight to increase motion clarity even more but also to help with eye adaptation, i've heard dyac+ causes a lot of extra eye strain and these newer zowie monitors are just an update for that. if anyone has used a dyac+ and dyac 2 monitor let me know if youve noticed a difference! currently looking at the 360hz but also considering the dyac 2 240hz

Good to hear they are pretty much on par so I don't have early buyers remorse if the Zowie had somehow come out way ahead in some area. The ASUS 540hz has been simply amazing and even though the early adopter's tax was super high at launch time, it has been worth it so far.

depends what games you play. i was on the pg27aqn for close to a year and decided the size of the monitor was simply too large. “downgraded” in size to the pg248qp and my performance has improved with the smaller size of the monitor. if 25 inch mode worked on valorant i wouldn’t have bothered, but i think it’s definitely an advantage having a smaller screen for competitive fps titles (cs, ow2, val)

@@formidable2368 i compensated for the larger screen by pushing it back further, but with that there was more information to process because even with it pushed back im using my peripheral vision for the edges of the screen instead of clearly seeing edge to edge. for reference i have 20/15 vision (better than 20/20) so i dont think its a vision issue, its just a little bit too large for me at any distance. i like on 24/25 inch how i can see everything at once

1:1400 contrast is probably, what impressed me the most here. Those ports sticking to the back is a deal breaker to me, its asking for breaking it, by accidentally yanking cables. Thicker bezels are likely due to more backlight sources in this model for Dyac 2. Honestly, those monitors are getting obscure now. I doubt they are making any profit, given how small the target audience is and what alternatives there are now.

I really considered these 480 hz + monitors but I settled on 360hz 1440p OLED for this year. I think it’s a good choice as I think I’ll appreciate the clarity of 1440p(I know there will be a 480hz 1440p OLED coming later). And I have a 4070gpu so it makes a lot of sense. I am trying to talk myself into it so I don’t wish I had something better but I’m sure it’s going to be incredible. I figure it will be easier to run 500+ frames with 1440p or higher in future and then I can upgrade everything yet again.

I took the plunge also and my reasons were as follows: - QD OLED has better contrast and colours than WOLED which is one of the reasons you go for OLED. - QD OLED are glossy, the LG 480hz matte coated. - I don't play CS GO or valorant so even on my 4090 I just won't be hitting those refresh rates. But don't get me wrong I'm sure they'll be fricken awesome but it's what swayed me this time round.

@@themetamind9305 I love this monitor. Just got the Alienware 360 hz qd OLED today. I was worried at first that it wasn’t a significant upgrade over my 120hz OLED tv. But then I realized once I turned on gsync (compatible) in my nvidia control center and turned on vsync. Turned on reflex in game. This is literally pay to win. You don’t just automatically do amazing but it’s so much easier to do well and see things smooth. VRR is a game changer with a high polling modern mouse and a great monitor with a computer that can hit the required frames. This is what I’ve been waiting my whole gaming life for. It’s so smooth and fun.
