Zouma: A Rat with a Hamster attitude
Zouma is a very special rat. He likes stashing food away, everything will be carried to his larder under the chest of drawers. Not only food disappears but also other items. I once was frantically searching for my asthma inhaler. I found it in Zouma`s larder! Also mango stones, apple cores, bird food and lots more. He never really seems to eat anything, he just likes the stashing part.
Alfredo, Zouma`s late brother, liked the eating part and waited patiently until Zouma had finished stashing away the food before he went in and ate the lot!

He's beautiful I adore rats got two myself n love em to pieces.
No wonder that he looks a bit stout ...
My rat Snoopy will be two on July 26th this year. He doesn't perform many tricks anymore lately, but has gotten more cuddly. And besides two toes that get curled nails that I have to clip every now and then he doesn't have many old age issues. It looks like his hindlegs are a bit less powerful but otherwise he is healthy and active for his age. I hope that he doesn't get HLD and has a graceful old age. I don't let my rats walk on the floor because of their hoarding habits, but they have a large cage and large playarea. I have a few anecdotes of rats hoarding stuff or stealing from people's hands. Two questions: What is the spot on his side? Is it from surgery or from grooming himself? And something you probably know: apple seeds contain amygdalin which converts to poison in a rat's digestive system. So beware with apple cores. Take care and 🐀 hugs

Hope your rat will have a long good life still. Zouma seems to be fine with his hind legs as well, he can still run very quickly. I had a few rats who had problems and they needed a lot of care. They were also not able to clean themselves anymore. Before Zouma I never really had a rat with such a hoarding habit, the others were only hoarding stuff occasionally, but with Zouma it seems nearly compulsive. But it is fun watching and I only have to clean his larder out from time to time.

But someone is hurting him , he is being bullied you can see the injury on his flank. They need to be seperated!
