I watched this movie in 1979 when i was 8. He was my hero and inspired me to help those in need of a hero. I have goose bumps and fond memories watching this.

After a long time, the older version of Zorro. Alan Delon was superb in his role as Zorro. The final sword duel was very, very good. All the actors did their roles convincingly, including Sargent Garcia. Thanks for this gem of a film.

I have NEVER forgotten this theme song since seeing this version on TV as a kid in the 1970’s!

I like all the Zorro films but this is by far the most entertaining version - proceedings never let up from start to finish of the two hours. There are not many which can match this for keeping the audience glued. Alain Delon is total class in his 'duel' role. It is quite camp with Stanley Baker as the excellent foil in a straight role leading the hapless army (somebody having a big dig here for sure). Poor old Garcia, I almost feel sorry for him, humiliated yet spared only to be on the end of a seemingly perpetual cycle of rinse and repeat. The marketplace scene is incredibly well choreographed. Even the corny theme song had me tapping my feet by the end. A really appropriate feeling score in between. And don't forget the amazingly well trained dog; 10/10

Zorro is such a good character. I don't know why but Zorro movies makes me cry in happiness. I think Zorro is the first fictional hero that inspired the superhero genre, I could be wrong, free to correct me. I hope Zorro could come back someday to grace the silver screen. We need saving. 😢

Yes it's a wonderful version of Zorro! Superhero traditions date back to the Marvel comics of the forties as far as I know (perhaps slightly earlier?) But Zorro in this version is just magnificent: tackling slavery and inhumanity with wit, elan and slapstick humour- all combined to create a cinematic diamond!

Zorro is heavily inspired by The Scarlet Pimpernel, a novel by Baroness Orzcy. Orczy is credited with popularizing the use of a foppish secret identity to throw people off the scent of a heroic alter ego. Zorro is certainly an important part of that lineage, of course, bridging the gap between Pimpernel and modern day heroes like Batman.

It amazes me that a simple fantasy about early Californios has built such a mythic reputation. There were other imaginary heroes displaying different aspects that made the Zorro character. The specific character of Zorro has become a blank canvas for many tales to be told. It appears that each new generation has its own iconic Zorro. The extremely flexible character seems to have a long future for himself. A female Zorro like character had a successful run in The Queen of Swords. I am afraid that a modern woke female Zorro may spoil the soup.

THIS was a very good and FUNNY Zorro movie. I have never heard of this guy Alain Delon nor even seen this movie. * BUT... 1:57:59 as a movie buff & critic I feel... At the last scene where the people revolted and fought back, then Zorro came sliding down from the roof top and began to challenge Huerta with a sword fight... THEN Huerta told Zorro that he'll have his mask... THAT'S where Zorro SHOULD have decided to go ahead and take it off, along with his cape and hat and said... "Alright then a moment of truth... I'll show you just who's side the people are on"... by REVEALING the fact that HE was the NEW Governor replacement all along. 😁⚘🥰👍😊 THEN there would have been NO NEED for the 15 minute sword duel... just for Zorro to suddenly get on his horse and ride off into the sunset. BUT OF COURSE there had to be a sword fight to kill the villan Huerta who was oppressing the people. 😊

The image quality is astonishing.
