Tip to make this thing more enjoyable to work with: delete 90% of the effects because they all sound the same. Try to find and download the 'Zoom Effect Manager'. You can add or remove stuff. I removed almost everything and kept only one of each: - Flanger, Phaser & Chorus - Small stone phaser (J. M. Yes. I mentioned this in one of the 4 videos I made on the Zoom. None of the presets on the Zoom sound good for synths. Maybe better for guitar, I am guessing. I always program the Zoom from a blank program for the perfect sound effects design for the instrument and song I am creating.

@@funnzie With the 'Zoom Effect Manager' you cannot wipe the presets, but you can delete or add the virtual stomp boxes. When I want to make a new preset for my own I always get lost in the 120+ stomp boxes to choose from. Takes the fun away from experimenting. So I deleted most of 'm (can put 'm back if I want to of course).

I understand now. Many of those effects I will never use either.

So the Tails is for when you turn the effect OFF. Do you want the effect to just cut-off abruptly or do you want the effect to "tail off" while you continue playing dry? It's a common term among guitar players. I am not sure if you know this or not but if you turn the TIME setting all the way clockwise then you get BPM matched tempo delays! Very handy.

Thank you so much! I would have NEVER figured out that tail switch because I would have never disabled the effect in the middle of a performance. I will mention this in the next effect with a tail option.

@@pekkagronfors7304 hey, does the tail affect the delay when you change the settings while it's on. In other demos I heard that the delay stops completely for a moment, when when you change the delay time and restarts with the new setting which sounds kinda crappy. Does tail on fix that?

These pedals are just the best. I have three B1on pedals, two G1on pedals and one G1onX and yes --- I use TONS of delays.

@@HazeAnderson Yes, drum machines/samplers. I made sure the sampler I bought had at least 6 outputs for processing independently. Unfortunately all my drum machines are stereo out only...so now I layer drum machines, many of them, so I have multiple ways to add effects to each one, and each one does not have to do the whole job anymore. Looking at your gear, you are probably doing the same thing.

@@funnzie Yes I am doing the same thing. I am taking two stereo drum machines directly into stereo effects units and otherwise finding stereo tracks to fill up with my stereo outputting drum machines. I do have two drum machines with individual outs and the S2400 that is on the way has eight individual outs itself. The problem I now face is all my tracks are already taken up by other synths. I am currently more interested in getting each drum machine to sound like a complete drum set so I don't mind stereo outputs currently. Things change tho. :P

What's the lowest setting for delay time in milliseconds this pedal is capable of? I'm thinking of getting one

On my rig I have a 10 band graphic equalizer between the Roland Gaia and the mixer. In mixer terminology this would be called an "insert". Many mixers have insert points for adding compressors but you can add any processor in this insert. The insert is not parallel like the effects, the signals follows a path that begins at the insert where 100% of the signal is processed and then proceeds through the rest of the mixer; effects, EQ, panning, level/fader.

Using the pedal like this in a send configuration, unless one of the modules is set to 100% wet you are returning dry signal back into the effects return channels, which is not really a good idea.

Yes, you need 100% mix on the Zoom, and even then the analog signal of the synth is coming through on the mixer, meaning you're preserving an equal amount of analog as well as the digital effects. With a mixer in pre-fader auxiliary, as you turn down the fader and turn up the auxiliary you drench the synth in more effect than dry until it is all effect. Otherwise at unity gain on the mixer an equal amount of effects and analog signal is coming through to the final 2 channel stereo mix.

Yes, its advertised as a reverb-delay-chorus pedal (CDR), but Zoom included so much more.

Why are you stressing so much that it's a session for recording and NOT live jamming? What's that big difference, while using this pedal/setup?

I am stressing recording for synths. Settings for synth stage use and guitar would be very different. Live jamming in a studio would be about the same as recording, so you're good to go. Jamming with PA speakers, amps, monitors, monaural, stage hall acoustics....very different.

I was very confused before buying it, I researched it for years, but didn't find any good reviews about it when used for synth recording/jamming in studio. That was because they were using the presets from the factory on the pedal review, the presets on the pedal for synths all sound horrible. We synth/pedal users need to make our own patches from scratch for the pedal, and when we do we get decent sounding effects for synths.

@@funnzie FWIW, the presets are horrible for guitar, too. I play guitar and synth and what you are talking about here applies equally for guitar - start from scratch, experiment and build your own sounds.
