Thank you for this video! I was just speaking with a client who asked about breakout rooms - we were under the impression it was available only with the paid version - and then you crushed that thought by telling us the feature just needs to be enabled! Yaaaa! This changes the way my client conducts her presentations, and makes a world of difference - thank you!!

Steve, this is a super introduction to using Zoom, and since I regularly teach groups to use Zoom so we can work together, this 13-minute overview will become part of my pitch. I have a couple of observations that might be of use. 1) I never use Zoom's invitation system to send invitations. I send the invitation to myself (or copy/paste it) and use it to create my own invitation with my email program. This way I have a record of exactly what information each person receives, when it was sent, and who received it. Also, each can easily contact me if there are questions about participation in the Zoom event. 2) A useful feature for larger meeting is that participants can raise their hand to ask to speak. Curiously, a host or co-host does not have this ability. So, you ask, as host why would I want to raise my hand? Often I may host the meeting, but someone else is chairing the event. Usually, in larger meetings, there is also a 3rd co-host who's job is to monitor the chat field and participant list (like your colleague, April) and keep track of the list of people who wish to speak and issues arising in chat in order to advise the chair. So there are 3 of us co-chairs who cannot raise our hand.

Great job, Thank you Steve. I've been using Zoom for a while but decided to go back and look at basics again. This was so helpful. What has been your experience adding music to meetings. Need to go back to Zoom for several exercises classes, but when I started years ago, adding music to live was super clumsy and timing was erratic.

Steve, Thanks for the great video. One thing you missed that is important to my situation is that in the paid version you can give meeting participants the option of joining the meeting through their computer or smart device OR call into the meeting using a Zoom provided telephone number. I don’t believe the free version provides a call-in option. Tim

I meet your over 25 years ago when you had your office near the city hall. I moved to Victoria. I have been using Zoom for 4 years in June for one of my Toastmaster Clubs. With my influence and a few others we got Toastmasters International to pick it up and many of their district. I like the way Zoom adjusts to a person's connection to their devices and their internet service. If the signal is low it will shrink their picture to use lower bandwidth and even stop sharing the video and just use their audio. I am often in a meeting where the people in the meeting all over the world, where they do not have the luxury of the High-Speed bandwidth we have on the West Coast of Canada. Or you are using your cell phone to be in a meeting. I am impressed with the way Zoom responded to the criticism of their service. The media were still reporting the problems long after they fixed them. I have not seen many honest comparisons between the various option. I have been using online services for over 50 years now. We even had a guest join one of our meetings from 30,000 ft over the Atlantic Ocean.

Wow. A great channel. Thank you. I have recently started to use Zoom (free) to trial and compare with other offering. The only feature that I found difficult to locate, despite the Zoom help centre, is the 'polls' feature. On searching everywhere, and following the guidance, nothing worked, until: I looked at your video, then went to ask you the question...to my amazement, the comment from Carolyn Gallegro answered it for me. Brilliant ! Anyway, you have now received my second ever comment on KZread and I will subscribe (sounds like a track from Gloria Gaynor).

Excellently presented! Clear, concise and a friendly attitude as well. These are the reasons I subscribed and follow you. The green screen info you provided solved my virtual background erratic movements. I just used a green throw blanket on my recliner to make the virtual background smooth. I share your tips with others and recommend you. 🙏🏼

Steve, old pal, you're still the best. Nice to see your mug (and Barberless doo) still doing your thing and helping folks in isolation : )

Thanks!! Exactly what I needed to know. (Steve, you can actually invite with e-mails on the Basic Version as well. I've also noticed that I do have the interaction buttons, the yes, no, fast, etc. on my Free Zoom. Maybe because we're in june already, don't know... Anyway, I'll have to go to Pro version because of the time limit. Thank you so much! Just subscribed! )
