This young lady did really well during cross examination. Yes she broke down in tears quite a few times which is understandable because it is not easy having to relive a traumatic experience. But what I loved about her is that she stuck to her story. No matter how hard this laywer tried to confuse her by asking the same question so many times , she stuck to her story. When she was asked a question, she answered the question exactly. If she didn't remember something, she was not too scared to admit that she does not remember. I also loved that she did not get wound up and angry and lose it. She stayed calm. I admire her courage so much. This can't have been easy for her. She's been through hell and now she has to relive it. She is our voice for all women out there. Hopefull this will give other young women courage speak up against sexual assault

I felt this lawyer was badgering her and I was surprised her own lawyer didn't object.When someone has been abused over a long period of time their mental state is impacted and trying to process the whole situation is not exactly black and white.There is shame and self blame and sometimes wanting someone to admit they did u wrong might involve approaching them in an agreeable manner as opposed to hostile.This lady's lawyer didn't prepare her for cross examination and they should have let her speak in her native language and got an interpreter so she cud communicate more efficiently.Its so sad this whole thing.

I keep trying to understand this thing she calls closure from her context, why would she travel all the to the same monster who so wronged her for closure? Why could she not get closure on the phone or in a letter? Am really battling to understand her? My sister trauma is trauma be it hijacking or bulgarly trauma shakes the mind n body alike. I would not return to my hijacking spot to seek closure again never. Something is bound to crack we seeing the tip of an ice burg here. Her pre trial preps n rehearsals were good hence her ability to respond in such fashion too.

I'm not being xenophobic or something. But not even one Nigerian is against this pastor! Say a South african comes to Nigeria and opens up a church( I doubt that would be allowed) and does the same thing, would they support him? Obviously no, they'd want justice to be served. Which pastor stays with minors in his house? Is it normal? Considering he has a wife and children. There are pictures proving it. This case doesn't need to be prolonged, this man deserves to be behind bars. Cherly is not the only victim. No one in their right mind would make such accusations. In Durban you find 10 Nigerian churches in one street, really? 2am in the morning you hear noises. If he wins this case the South African justice would have let us down.

If they were decent people they would stand up and speak against this.They can't protect a paedophile just because he is one of their own.Last time in London those two Nigerian boys tried to behead a British soldier Lee Rigby as people watched in shock.The families stood up and got other Nigerians to stand with them and say that they were not in support of that.They can't all agree with this behavior if they want to live in other people's countries cos no one would do this in their own country.

My dear, please hear me, there are so many of us who are disheartened by this as nigerians, the thing about nigerians is that we say something is good or bad not based on the nationality of the person involved. I see her as a daughter, hence, the pain is real and it would be the same if the pastor was a south African or an American.

@@chiomajonathan2590 u have the privilege to not specify nationality cos no one is going to your country to commit crimes there.Its within reason to be shocked at the fact that someone can be brazen enough to go to a foreign country and commit such atrocities, lets not forget how Nigerians came to name a bag "Ghana must go".There are Nigerians in that court gesturing and mumbling to a point where a court official brings it to the court's attention. That's why we are gutted that they are defending this behavior and they are online saying all sorts of things to defend this man.

@@naletsanaele my dear incidents like this is very common in nigeria aswell, but I understand your frustration that it almost feels like nigerians are taking advantage of your system which many consider weak, but I can assure you that that is not the case with many other nigerians, who in fact appreciate south africa for the opportunity it presents to south Africans and non south Africans alike. The fight in this world is against good and evil and not one nation against the other. Let me also apologise on behalf of all well meaning nigerians to this beautiful young lady and south Africans at large.

Am Nigerian or sorry Biafran, the lawyer is trying to make this look like what happens in Nigeria. This case should be an international case.

The lawyer is doing what lawyers do, but as for this young lady, I salute her courage. I hope she's doing law related subjects so that she could one day become a lawyer. She belongs in court. She owns the place.

Rape happens in homes, schools, hospitals and there are predators in traditional churches too. i was in a traditional church where the worship leader was harassing the young women in the church. When a complaint was laid it was dismissed because the pastor was also messing with young girls. They are both still pastors

So intimidating questions. The young lady has been traumatised for years. Lord have mercy. She just wanted an apology to ease the pain she's been holding, like when the Great late Mandela wanted an apology from the Apathied regime after being innocently prisoned for 25 years.
