Some of these negative comments are ignorant. Nothing is infallible. His product is significantly better than many options out there. This product is also designed for home invasion and forcible confinement scenarios. Buying mere seconds can provide an indispensable lifeline for individuals under threat. Place a 911 call, alert neighbours, etc. At least he's out there inventing, innovating and trying. It's easy to be a cynic or critic and tougher to make solutions. I applaud this man but more importantly, his product. $20 for great peace of mind. Yes, please!

your question stick your hand in and remove the ring, first, with a lever door handle impossible you have to close the door to remove the ring, with a round door knob you have to close the door to the point that there is a two inch gap to take off the ring, you have to have the wrist of an 8 year old, finally I would love for someone with a tiny wrist in my door when I slam it shut. its a door chain you use it when you answer the door.

What people need to understand is that it's definitely not intruder proof, but it offers valuable time to run or prepare.

Some of these comments are just idiotic. "Just use a gun, throw a rock through the window, cut the chain, remove the screws, etc". Of course numnuts, if someone wanted into your house there's a million ways in. Hell, why not just drive a truck, car, or army tank through the front door or even your front wall if you want a guaranteed way in? Most forced entries like this are impulsive, impromptu, crimes of opportunity. The point of products like this are that they're better than nothing, & designed to slow down an intruder or cause them to just move onto an easier target. It's not supposed to turn your house into an impenetrable fortress.

We know of no door lock that protects windows, but we are in the process of working on a door lock that protects window glass. We are having problems with the force field it will not reach from the door to the window.

maybe you could invent a system of wires that you position infront of the glass that you plug into an outlet from the inside. and then wires constantly send arcs of blue electricity so its constantly buzzing and crackling and anyone who touches it will get zapped. then no one would even come near the house. or make it so that it can be activated to zap intruders away from your door area from eletricution. like you just flip a switch and they start getting fried. i mean if someone is that violently attacking your door imagine the feeling of flipping a switch or pressing a button and watching your shocking system pop out and shock them. or put a siren system outside near the top someplace so you can start blaring an alert siren and attract everyone's attention that an emergency is happening, that might stop some people

What stops you from just kicking a regular door chain and walking in? Regular door chains are found in every hardware store, Walmart, target and many others stores in the country. They can be bypassed with one kick. We are a huge improvement. What I am starting to see in many of the comments is the misinterpretation of this lock. Door chains are supposed to be used for answering the door. This ALSO has a flip-lock to secure the door when it is closed. For someone to come with a screwdriver seems somewhat far-fetched in the idea that you are standing at the door while they are trying to unscrew two screws. Even if this were the case, it would still give you time to A. Call 911 B. Grab a defensive weapon or C. go to a safer place. You also have the option of going to your local hardware store and “upgrading” the lock by adding security screws. The problem with existing door chains is that with one kick, the perpetrator would be inside your house in two seconds. Guys, great device. Warn the young man doing the kicking that he is destroying his meniscus cartilage in the his knee. I'm retired Law Enforcement and kicked many doors. It's cumulative damage. The reason why this particular lock doesnt fail, is very simple, its because the lock cradles the doorknob. It also helps distribute the force of impact of the kicks and the bag. Im also gonna assume that the chain is a very hefty chain and is made using high quality steal..

I just installed a steel plate in the jamb. Filled the door itself with structural foam, eliminated all slack in the locks/door. Tuning the locks and door will get a higher degree of safety, having a peep hole makes opening the door unnecessary. Keep in mind, someone kicks your door in, deadly force may be warranted, Be prepared to defend yourself.

If the door is open like that, while the hoop is still there... He can stick his hand in and remove the hoop from the door handle

How would you do that? The ring is held tight against the door around the knob when the door is in the open position. The door would have to be closed in order to get the slack to get the ring off. This actually looks like a good product.

ya gotta remember here. locks like this are to prevent force able entry. So, to use the common saying. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Meaning, if someone was trying to get in like in this video. A chain lock or this halo chain, is the least of your concern. You will need to arm and defend yourself. Or escape. That's if, you were inside. If not, well. Whoever is trying to get in when you're not home. WILL get in.

Actually having the door open outside would expose the hinge making access easy by simply removing the pin. Outside hinges would then need further protection.

Also...the guy keeps kicking at the worst place to kick. I'm a retired cop, we alwasy trained to kick the lower 1/3 of the door. Kicking at the center where the most enforcement is, doesn't take advantage of the weak points on doors. Now when using a breaching ram, you stike on the deadbolt...which would have taken this device out in a hot minute. We actually trained with a device just like this, only made better. It has a 4" heavy bolt that drills into the stud adjacent to door frame. That way too, once the deadpolt is defeated, you can't simply unscrew the plate from the inner door frame where this one attaches...also had a shorter chain, where this one can be easily cut with bolt cutters once locks are defeated.

I guess I'm lucky my door and frame are whats called a fire door I think in any case they are fairly thick metal doors along with metal door jam. I locked myself out once I finally managed to pick the lock after trying to get in with a crow bar and many other techniques then I realized I had my picks in my pocket thankfully and being my door I've used it as a practice lock.I'm not sure if this would work on my door but I'll have to look I've been wanting to put some other type of lock on my door but it being metal and in a rental I'm afraid of messing it up I would love to put one of those peep holes in but don't have the money to hire someone and I don't have the tools to attempt such a thing.This lock could be as effective as the peep hole though.

We have much easier solution here in Finland. Just install door so it opens outwards. then the whole frame is supporting the door. No need for all kind of different safety devices. Easy, simple, safe and cheap.

I have a ring video doorbell. I do not open the door at all. However that device costs $200.00. This is a low cost alternative that anyone can afford. Pretty neat device.

Some people are ridiculous. They dispute the obvious value of this product. Nothing is ever perfect. You could have a crocodile filled moat surrounding a castle with 100 foot walls of steel. But you could still get shot in the head from a sniper when you step outside. Hmmmmm... No, the idea is not to seek perfection, but to seek the best practical thing. And this one is affordable. I see you're getting a lot of hate from the comments section but I think people mis understood the direction in which you were taking this. Not once did you promise complete and absolute safety, you simply said it adds a layer of home security not originally offered by door companies. Although some see flaws in the product, I think altogether the purpose is not obsolete and I may consider purchasing one myself. The precious few seconds that this product could buy, between five or six kicks (before they give up that is) you could've gathered your family and called the police. Good idea having the mounting hardware so easily accessible. If they shim the lock all they need to do is unscrew the plate. Another way around it is the zip tie trick. Hell they could even pull the hinge pin and in they come. Now when it comes to the door knob, on the handle style all they have to do is reach in, unlock it, turn the handle and the ring falls off. For a standard knob they just need a heavy zip tie. Push the point against the chain nearest the ring and the ring will fall off.

you do understand this is a door chain, for when you answer the door, sorry no hinge pin to pull, one pinky on the door knob defeats your zip tie, your question stick your hand in and remove the ring, first, with a lever door handle impossible you have to close the door to remove the ring, with a round door knob you have to close the door to the point that there is a two inch gap to take off the ring,(if you want to make the gap even smaller with a round door knob, twist the chain once or twice before putting it on the round door knob, it will shorten it) at full length on a round door knob you have to have the wrist of an 8 year old, finally I would be very hesitant to stick my hand in the door when someone who was afraid and standing on the other side.

This is a great product, you should use this and then have another emergency locking system that strong that can be put in place because like said said before, the chain can be cut and screws can be removed. I might have to get this tho great product!

Normally I walk around with a bolt cutter to break into houses, thanks for the idea.

Though a step better than the flimsy stuff, a small bolt cutter can reach in and clip the chain easily. Reinforcing the door frame and handle area will be more effective. This only helps if you already opened the door.

an air dust cleaner can freeze the chain with it held upside down, instant freezes then you kick, bam it snaps..

If you make the chain a little more heavy duty to add onto the time it would take for an intruder to slice the chain.

One of the best things you can have is a Security Storm Door. Thick metal frame, bullet proof glass and heavy duty lock. You can open your inner door and still be secure behind the bullet proof storm door. Investing in security windows for at least your ground floor windows should be high on the list too.

ever since i been using the strike plate locks my kicks efficiency has gone up 200 percent. my kicks now go through my opponents like paper. thanks strike plate locks but seriously i want one .

My concern here is that this depends on other factors to be successful, for example the screws holding it to the frame, if you simply swap the strike plate lock onto the door frame with the existing cheap brass screws this will fail when they come out, probably on the first blunt force hit. Second, it also depends on the integrity of the door knob, if it comes apart, the door will open. I used to be paid to break into houses professionally and legally, and the only knob I could never easily break was a schlage.

what length screws have you used? 3-4 inch?

You should consider the fact that anyone this willing to get into your house should be smart enough to break a window instead

I think the guy kicking the door is wearing Wrangler anthracite camo shorts. I have a pair and they’re comfortable as heck.
