Hey Alex, Been going through and re-watching various youtube vids on Z:UoA. Just heard you saying about the #metaldice - I'm fairly sure I saw the new Marvel Zombies Zombicide come with a couple of these (along with Galactus) - wondering if you'd managed to "give them a roll" and what your thoughts were re: weight wise?

I like them but still don't feel they're practical compared to non metal.

I have the original Zombicide that I bought from a colleague. I have not played it even once, does it make sense to back this? Has the gameplay changed a lot since the original? I did download the iOS game to figure out the mechanics and try the game before opening up the box

Great job as always Alex and your highlighted picks for survivors and abominations are amongst the ones that personally pushed me over the edge into backing. I don't need another Zombicide. I have 2nd edition coming soon to upgrade moderncide and I have pretty much everything released for black plague, but the western/steam punk setting and these mini choices are must buys for me. I'm hoping I can sell some kickstarter exclusive figures from 2nd edition and the expansions to moderncide to make room for my inevitable all in on this one

Hi Alex, may I ask for your opinion? I consider getting the core pledge of Undead or Alive. However, I am not sure if it is the best option for me since I do not have anything from Zombicide so far. You frequently mention that Black Plague is you favourite version. I am now unsure whether to get the retail edition of Black Plague or the Core KS Pledge of Undead or Alive. What do you think is overall the better way? The price point would be around 95 $ and 150 $ (including shipping and VAT), respectively. Thanks!!

I haven’t done any research but is any of the content from this compatible with say, Black Plague? I love mixing in the abominations for new threats and scalability of difficulty so if I can get just the Deadstock expac, then I’m in.

I assume yes. All abominations generally: have 3 wounds, needing a 3 wound weapon (assuming you’re not using special firing rules from Invader), move 1, 0 range melee. An abomination may have a unique rule for that sculpt, but they’re not necessarily edition specific: 2 range, an extra attack, 3 move into melee, pull heroes within 3 to its space, etc... unless it’s special ability is edition specific (instead of attacking, can take control of a turret) I’d mix and match. I’d house rule the special ability to make it match theme, if not, just use it as a regular abomination...

Almost certainly you'd see a return, I'd guess 50% or more at least initially.

Alex, you mentioned you enjoy black plague the most. Do you consider Green Horde apart of that? I lucked into a copy of a really good lot of Black Plague and am wondering if I should pick up Green Horde as well.

No, specifically black plague. Green horder gives you more fun minis that can be integrated...but didn't like nearly as much.

I always refer to used as well, I recommend backing to play the games yourself, and am just interested in whether they will hold their value if/when you want to trade or sell it down the road.

For me it's always Black Plague

CMON nailed it with Sheriff Mittens, and not just because its hilarious. Even if I was unaware of who it was a reference to and what meme it was a reference to, he'd still more or less blend in with the rest of the cast. He fits the aesthetic and I imagine it'd be easy for anyone who doesn't know who he's supposed to be to think he's a generic "get off my lawn" old man sitting on his porch with a shotgun.

I‘m really on the fence ... thinking about UoA as my first CMON game, but the last updates and the lack of a second big addon with scenarios really made me hold back. I love the minis, but I fear that there might be too little gameplay included. Now I saw the MD2 late pledge is still open. I know totally different game, but I am torn. Which would you guys prefer especially for long term replayability?

Aside from the little backstory and aesthetic differences, do the survivors within each class have different abilities? For example, does every gunslinger operate the same way or can they each do something slightly different than the other gunslingers?

They all have different abilities as they level up.

I agree with the comments on how few zombie SG’s there are at the $100 plaedge. Played a non-KS moderncide with a friends copy, and found his lack of zombies, with the rule “if you spawn a zombie type that you’ve run out of minis of, that type gets an extra activation,” which can kill a game. The huge amounts of SG zombies received from earlier KS’s, fill the table making things more desperate and ominous. As fun as different survivors are, more zombies are more critical imo. Looking at the campaign page, Daily Duals are explicitly included on the Steampunk Pledge, but not necessarily on the Dead West Pledge. I’m assuming the extra Daily Dual zombies aren’t included on the $100 level... am I right about that Alex? It’s a bit ambiguous...

Deadeye walkers and wolves are a ton of fun. Those alone flesh out the experience a ton.

CMON, if you read this, make an all-in pledge with the horses included and you got a deal. Otherwise I don't see any gameplay value for me to get them and I'm fine with the tokens. ;). I'm also not getting the dice, because I'm fine with whatever dices is in the core box ;) I wish they would have more unique zombies in the core box without having to buy all these extra add-ons. Thanks for the update Alex!

I know adding more heroes can help expand replayability, but once you get over 30 heroes, will there be much of a difference between all the heroes to make them technically feel different, or will all the townspeople class feel the exact same, with just a different token? The same with the other class types that are in the game. If my count isn't wrong there is around 110+ heroes for this game if you add all the addon's and expansions together.

Do not know if it’s been said but I also see, Clint EastWood as The Nameless. Lee Van Cleef as Clint, two of the Three Amogos, Robert Redford as Benji ( I think), Yul Beynner as Kristoff from The Magnificent Seven, Christoph Waltz as Charles from Django ( I think), Madeleine Stowe from Bad Girls (I think) as Bloody Mary, I’m sure there are more and I’d love to hear them or if I made any mistakes let me know.

Good choice! Got S1 and S2 but have not started S2 yet although I do use some of the characters from it sometimes. I also have the two elder gods you can by retail, have not tried the goat but the other one is really nice. More combination is never a bad thing I feel!

My mate and I already decided we're house ruling Sheriff Mittens where he's completely immobile and another survivor has to enter his zone and use movement actions to push his chair around. Lmfao

I only started the hobby last year just before covid struck. I got Black Plaque at your recommendation and started trusting your taste in games since. As much as I am intrigued by the theme and would love to have some of the minis in this campaign, I can't help but feel that it's very bloated and the minis are samey and I can't really use most of them in DnD. I would love to try the game at some point but for now I rather save up for a better fit in the future. Thanks for the video!

Retail block plague versus Kickstarter this is a hard choice. given those options my recommendation would be Kickstarter this, because if you find that it doesn't do the genre justice, the Kickstarter version of this will sell for a lot more than retail black plague, and you can always change your mind and walk away with this money in your pocket.

Zombicide might not be the greatest thing in life, but I don’t think most people will be upset with a $100 box full of gnarly huge abomination sculpts and Bernie sanders. Even if bloodborne had terrible quality, 2nd edition unboxings are looking good. Remember you can tie your money up later in a late pledge without have to commit right away.

I like what they did with Zombicide 2nd edition more. Gave more zombies with personality like the nun or pizza delivery zombie. Also western isn’t a favorite genre. So Indecided to wait for Zombicide Middle Ages/Fantasy 2nd edition. Might be waiting for quite awhile.

I bounced off the Zombicide: Undead or Alive pretty hard, about a week into the campaign. I can't identify exactly what turned me off so much... But it did push me to track down a KS pledge copy of Western Legends. I guess I just don't care about 100's of characters. I would rather have 10-ish playable characters and a bucket full of things to kill.

Personally it is having already Death May Die as a dice chucker which is enough (not my favorite genre) plus all the add-ons making the price too high for my taste and finally I would have prefered a more 'serious' tone. Seeing Bernie and snoop etc... actually puts me off.

The Alpha Bane was the miniature that pulled me in, despite me seeing problems with the gameplay and the terrain tiles of Z:UoA. Also, the Bear Abomination is amazing. And of course, most of the Western-style Survivors miniatures are great. The expansions didn't grab me, which is good, saves money. But it's very sad to see the huge let-down on the Horse Expansion, no terrain and missions for it makes it useless in my opinion. It seems very lazy and underdeveloped. And charging 15$ extra for empty horses is ridiculous. This should have been 40$ and including terrain, missions and empty horses. And what's up with the lack of Fatty and Runner sculpts and special Fatties and Runners in this campaign?

Is the lack of # zombies going to be a problem? In the KS comments this is often mentioned. And you didn’t say anything about the 7-12 player expansion and I was hoping/waiting for your view on that. You mentioned somewhere previous about Zombicide, that you shouldn’t play with more than 3 people, since it’s no fun playing with only 1 character on the board. Does this expansion solve that problem? I can then play with 4-6 people? Or is the downtime to long then? I joined your channel about a month ago and already you’re my favourite reviewer. I love your honesty, humour and self-reflection. The part at 0:19:30 “Cmon you can hire me... what am I doing here?“, you had me laugh out loud. And I’m backing this zombicide because of you and your enthusiasm for the whole branch (my wallet curses you ;-). I stayed away from zombicide until now, but the western theme peeked my interest and you pushed me over the edge. Thanks!

I still think they missed a lot of chances with the faithful. Why only christian nuns and priests? Why no rabbi? Is the Frisco kid this unpopular nowadays? And why no kick-ass shaolin monk? The lack of asian survivors is a bit disturbing. But Sheriff Mittens might be able to convince me too back this, even if I'm still waiting for Zombicide 2nd Ed. Lets wait and see what the last days will get us.

I have already backed the game and dropped my pledge twice during this campaign. I made my final decision not to back it, as I am in the EU and I just don't think it would be that worth it after VAT and shipping get added to my pledge, but damn that video got me back on the fence... I just bought my very first Zombicide and it is the retail version of Black Plague. I'm enjoying it so much, but because of that I am so pissed that I can't get the Abominarat or Deadeye Walkers for a reasonable price. That keeps me wanting to back this campaign - to get the exclusives. I just don't feel there's enough uniqueness among the miniatures, I think at the 20-30th survivor SG mark I have already seen every sculpture having an almost exact copy, presented as different survivor. Also not fan of the western-themed-abominations being an extra cost, and the Daily ones are just so generic, that they would even have a better fit when played with BP/GH. That being said, do you think we could somehow make such a crossover possible? I would love to use the Daily abominations in my BP! That would actually make me reconsider backing this campaign :)

CMON not making it any easier right now... the croc and ape abominations make me wanna back the game, but the silly zombie wearing horse head... Man that's tough. The additional VAT does not help. Also I would rather see some alternate sculpts for the core box walkers and fatties than have some of the abominations from daily unlocks. Zombicide 2nd Edition had 4 models for each of the sculpts, here we have 8... that would be tidious to paint

Love the figures but way to many survivors compared to so little comparative variety in the zombies. Wish there were more and different zombies.

Mmm perhaps.

But there is a nun in base BP.

I don't get it. To me CMON is like the Michael Bay of the board game world. Flash and showy but ultimately vacuous. I'm happy for those of you out there who love these games but not for me.

Mostly agree, although having 1 or 2 of those in the collection can come in handy for a silly evening. More than that I do not see the point.

David, I totally agree. I am actually looking for that huge Michael Bay type super overblown zombie killing experience with this game. I don’t plan to back many games like this, but one that makes sense to have a ton of minis are zombies.

Fairly sure Sable is Beyonce, who is from Texas.

So besides laughing out loud at Sheriff Mittens, does anyone else find these minis completely boring and uninspiring?

Not me...not all are exciting, but a lot are. Much better than invader or season 2 for me

@@BoardGameCo maybe I'm just spoiled by Cthulhu DMD and others but they all just look the same in this. Maybe I'm expecting too much? I don't know, I don't have a zombicide to compare it to

I think this or BP is more for me, i have been playing 2nd Edition this week and i am already bored of it, it is just so bland

Unpopular opinion: Alex you need to join ZA (Zombicide Anonymous). No seriously. I think if you already own 2 Zombicide kickstarters and you need a third, then you have a problem!
