    Corrections: 1) "Bunny Boom and "Carrot" cards are the only placement effects that are applied in reverse. 2) You move to the card you just placed and then activate the effect. - Bunny Boom; add bunnies everywhere - Carrot attracts an opponent to your card and give him the carrot token (value 4 bunnies at the end of the game) 3) In phase 2, placing a card of a different suit results in a penalty. This penalty is equal to the value of the new card (indicated in the top right corner of the card), not the card already in place. 4) End scoring + Bunnies count + Carrot (4 bunnies) + Cards in hand values (right top corner) - You must end with 3 cards in hand

    Strippers should always be divisive. There's no tasteful way of turning lust and adultery into a board game. It is going to be gross. 7,300 people are being misled to think that lust is tasteful. There is nothing to celebrate here unless you are for supporting extremely low standards. It bothers me that this even made it to your list. But I guess kudos to you for allowing yourself to be desensitized and influenced enough to put it on your video, Alex. Hope you can turn things around before you get sucked in too much deeper.

    1) I have no interest in ever playing the game, it's not something that remotely appeals to me. 2) I recognize that my own tastes are my own tastes. 3) I recognize the lack of consistent values in that violence and language don't bother me at all, and I assume yourself as well, but sexuality is a line that cannot be crossed. Meaning I believe both yourself and myself have instinctive biases as to what we allow on our tables and what we don't. That bias DOES feed into the fact that I won't play the game (they asked me to cover it and I said no) but I'm also mindful enough to recognize it is indeed a bias and I won't blacklist it from covering it as an upcoming campaign.

    This is completely your own opinion. 7,300 people seem to show have interest in this game. We live in a free country so I don’t mind BGC covering this at all.

    @@BoardGameCo I have spoken out against games like 'Hate' for the violence displayed in them. There is a line in every category that should not be crossed and the line keeps getting pushed back little by little every time a person compromises their biases (or a better word; convictions). Or a youtuber that you have come to expect to be family friendly, to a certain degree, in what they showcase suddenly runs a segment on a game the definitely crosses one of these lines. You are better than this, Alex. This game shouldn't be anywhere near your channel.

    Is the board game crowdfunding market over saturated? Between rising KS campaign costs, inflated shipping costs, and bad publicity due to certain publishers, it seems like things may be about to break. I'm noticing more and more campaigns not getting the funding they may have once gotten. Thoughts?

  • @chriss1400
    @chriss14004 сағат бұрын

    It’s definitely over saturated at this point. Dozens of games every month, most will be ~$100+ shipped, even for a base pledge. Most people who follow crowdfunding can’t afford more than 3-4 of those types of purchases a year. I’ve definitely seen a lot of projects in the $150-400k raised range, that 3-4 years ago would’ve likely been in the $500-700k range. Just way too many options in a relatively niche market for anything but the biggest and best to stand out.

    I don't understand who would ever want to play nightshift. Games to me are a form of escapism like being a mighty warrior fighting a dragon. And I'm assuming this game is trying to glorify sex work instead of a commentary on why its bad. No father would ever want his daughter to be a stripper.

    We are enjoying Expressions but I also have the concern about replayability. So far though, we've played a few games with a different group at a time so it remains fresh. I do have a one game in/one game out policy so I expect one day to replace it with an all-in KS exclusive miniature game with multiple add-ons/expansions including playmat, dice trays, and stuffies tho 😂

    This review was really well done. I like your honesty regarding your disinterest for the game, while still conveying its merits in what experience it is trying to sell to its consumer. That being said, I am this game's target audience, so I'll probably get good mileage out of this one.

    I own and love five of your Top 10 (all 4 Clevers, Cartographers, Fleet, Three Sisters and Railroad Ink: Blue Edition), and have at least two others on my wish list (On Tour and Welcome to the Moon). I also have and really like Next Station: London. However, two of my favorite verb&verbs were not mentioned by you. One of them is Kokoro: Avenue of the Kodama, a very easy to learn but challenging game with lots of replayability due to several variant modules included in the box - if you know Avenue, Kokoro is practically the same game (slightly bigger board) plus these variants, and it comes with good quality eraseable boards and pens. The second game is Trails of Tucana, which has a mechanism for player asymmetry built into it and those fun cascade effects you get in some of the other games. There is a third game you didn’t mention and, although it is not one of my favorite games, I still like it: Silver and Gold. I finally have to mention a favorite game of mine that is not usually included in this genre, but which I consider being one: it’s the flip&place The Guild of Merchant Explorers. It seems a stretch, since that game is quite big for a v&v, and some people are turned off by placing pieces on the board instead of drawing being quite fiddly and unstable, but it is a lot of fun and pretty thematic, compared to other v&v’s.

    As much as I love AR games, this is a pass for me, mostly for two reasons: 1. The setting of the game isn't to my liking. 2. There is a new one coming later this year: "Lands of Evershade" which sparked my interest so much, that it might be an all-in for me. Given time and budget restrictions I need to pick the games I'm willing to back, and you (as always) help to make this decision with more clarity. Thank you for your reviews, unboxings and previews Alex (and prof. Meg as well)!

    Great review. I get why you would rate a 3.5, but this from what you showed deserves a 5/5 from me. SM Games totally listened to the community on a lot of these changes. Yes, it seems more of a upgrade pack, but that is a lot of what people wanted. Hell, the dual layer boards are worth it for me. I will instant buy for what this expansion does....adds more content, without complexity. I could care less about the corrupt mech, but I will for sure try it to see. Bravo to SMG.
