    I have watched so many of these set up vids trying to figure out what to do to set up and fly my first plane. This is the first vid that has left me with a sense of hope that I may be able to make more then a first and last flight all in the same moment. Everyone wish my dart sub250 good luck. Thank you Mr. Newton. 62 years old and ready for my new adventure.

    Fantastic video Andrew, best review I have seen on the Kopilot Lite, I am really impressed with how well it works in the Ranger G2 most of the videos I have watched featuring the Kopilot Lite the gains or throws have been too high and the plane or wing has had a fair amount of shake when stabilized. Really curious how it will perform in the lighter Dart 250 as I have one on the way, you may just save me some headaches. Thanks again always informative and a great source of inspiration, Cheers from the cold, rainy, snowing Midwest USA!

  • @jj604utube
    @jj604utube4 жыл бұрын

    Andrew, very nice review indeed. Couple of points that are worth noting. 1) As with most stabs of this kind you do not need to use a Y lead on the ailerons. You can use (say) channel 5 or 6 direct from the receiver for the second aileron. The KoPilot will only stabilise one aileron but this is perfectly adequate for most models. I have used it with other stabs which do not have internal mixing for dual ailerons. It also works with my Kopilot. 2) I'm sure the 70ft RTH height is not AGL but Above launch point height. There is no way the Kopilot can allow for changes in ground level without a radio altimeter or internal terrain map so you might run into trouble if you expect it to work in hilly terrain. John

    Dear Andrew, this FC Is cool. This little auto pilot seem a rebrand of the sn Sparrow with an external board for gain/rth/radius fence potentiometer. But 10€ more expensive. the funny thing is i fly it on my ranger G2. The only feature i nées to try to confirm the cloning is the autolaunch in RTH mode. I must warn you about the throttle handling on windy day. The auto pilot doesn't compute airspeed from gps speed ans throttle like ardupilot, i loose a lot of altitude in RTH on windy day. @@johnsheehy6172 I don't know but it's probable that the GPS unit will treat the point at which it acquires more than 6 satellites as the Home Point as long as it has Vcc and Ground continuously applied to it. The Kopilot unit will operate on that Home Point when it is receiving the information via the GPS Tx/Rx connections. So your set-up just might work by using ch6-AUX to operate an RC switch to connect or break the Tx? line. You would need to set the receiver to failsafe ch6 to re-connect when signal is lost.

The travel of Ail and Ele is much less in this mode, almost nothing. Why? Using a frsky taranis q7. 2. For the throttle to work on my controller I have to inverse it (weight -100 on Taranis). 3. I cannot calibrate the plane (sticks inside and down). The green leds won't flash after 5 seconds. Thanks.

    Thanks Martin. I have a video showing all the setup and problems coming soon. 1. That is the way Kopilot works and I agree there is not enough control in stabilise mode. Need to increase the throws mechanically by changing which hole the pushrods connect to, then reducing the weights just for manual mode switch position. 2. That is weird. Have you inverted Ch3 in the Outputs page? 3. To use the stick command method of level calibration you must have 100 weight on Ch1 Ail, Ch2 Ele, Ch3 Thr and Ch4 Rud and no throttle cut activated. Kopilot does the level cal automatically when you plug the battery in so maybe dont bother with the stick command method. Must be in Stabilise mode (not RTH)
